Chakuri
Huh.... It seemed as though the dragons were making use out of the line, and Chakuri wondered briefly if she should have gone with Kahbrohm... Just as quickly, she stomped that thought out of her head, holding her head up high once more. Nope! No one had asked her to move, and she wasn't going to start now! She'd keep her feet firmly planted here... After all, those little greens were still moving, and maybe, perhaps, one of them wanted her? Or the blue still resting there...
The last egg began to finally rock, and her eyes lit up. You could do it, baby!
--
Oranie
"It seems like everyone's calmed down..." Oranie agreed, sounding faintly relieved. The dragons were taking their pick of the boys and a few girls, and despite everything, she was beginning to relax. Maybe the worst of it was over... that poor young girl, though. That could have been Elibrie-- and she shook her head to dispel the very thought.
"Oh--it's wobbling!" Everyone could see that, she realized, but... Well, hopefully they wouldn't think it was too silly of a comment. "And one, very kind young man," She pointed out, not about to let Juhvek be too humble about himself!

Liniyah
More and more dragons were finding Theirs, and Liniyah could only feel content that the Impressions all seemed to be going so smoothly. Even the frightened little blue had found His, which was a very big relief. The thought of a baby going Between on this day was too terrible to contemplate. Still on the outskirts, she watched both candidates and dragons, waiting.

Ryala
In a sudden flurry, it seemed that half of the newly hatched dragons had decided to Impress all at once. Almost before she realized it, there were only three greens, one blue, a bronze, and a single unhatched egg left on the Sands.
Well, the bronze wouldn't be interested in her, though she was sure that one of the guys would be thrilled to find himself Impressing that hatchling.
So, turning her attention to the blue and trio of greens, Ryala resumed her wait. Who knew? Perhaps another would choose to say hi. Even if the green who had briefly stopped to see her hadn't chosen to stay, she had still been delightful to see.
----------
Avali
The goop from the Coal egg was starting to dry now, she could feel it. Oh shells, she didn't even want to think about how impossible it was going to be to wash this stuff out of her hair! Well, she'd manage somehow! It wasn't like she was much to look at, anyways.
Some of the hatchlings were moving now, and one of them was... Oh! Was the green heading towards... her? But no, a moment later the green had gone right by, not even seeming to give her a glance. As quickly as her hopes had risen, they now dropped again.

C'ryn and Bronze Aresoth
More began to hatch and Aresoth watched as his and Zenobiath's children continued to hatch. It was going faster then he had expected at first and there was a bit of a pang, had his own father felt like this during his hatching? Ah, but seeing as they found theirs, it made his hearts swell with pride.
Two of his sons continued to fight but Aresoth made no move to stop them, especially since Zenobiath did not see it as important either. They would be fine, there were times a fight had to be used to deal with problems, after all. Argamath had a few scratches but it was Maestoth who seemed the most hurt. The young brown had been very brave, as well as stubborn, to stand up to his bronze brother and Aresoth sent pride to both of his young sons as he returned to watch the others.
As Cordeth cowered and seemed afraid to find or reach out for his, even with Zenobiath's urging, Aresoth sent a wave of love and then pride as he watched his blue son impress. You had nothing to fear, dear Cordeth. Yours will always be there for you now.
More and more were finding theirs and Aresoth settled a bit more beside Zenobiath, offering the gold a nuzzle of his head. They are beautiful.

Lusialu The girl was glad that the fighting and ravaging had stopped, though she felt awfully bad for Miela and the others who had been injured. She would make note to visit her--assuming she would want any after this debacle. It never made sense to her why some dragons could find Theirs without issue, while others left injury and death in their wake, but this was a risk they all understood well before stepping onto the sands. It didn't make the horror or sadness of it all any better, though, and she felt for the injured. Dragons of all colors had hatched, including the cowering and frightened little blue, much to her relief. One green continued to sit on the Sands, and one egg had yet to hatch--but for the most part, eggs had hatched, and picked out their matches.
She hoped Kinye would find hers today, and Dehka as well. A few faces she recognized, but didn't know overly well, had also found Theirs and Lusialu felt a mix of pride and envy. But envy wasn't a good feeling, and that part of her that she so hated to acknowledge, lurked beneath the surface.
Happy thoughts. Tender thoughts. Welcoming thoughts.
It wasn't over yet, after all.
When a little green bounded up to Kinye, Lusialu held her breath, hoping that maybe, just maybe, this would be---well. No, there the green went. At least she was drawing their kindness--that had to bode well for her, didn't it? "They sure like you," she laughed, feeling that pinch of envy, but doing her best to temper it. No dragon had come to her, even to investigate--was that a sign? She didn't think so... but in the heat of the moment, it was hard to know.

Rasthell Things had happened swiftly once the eggs had begun to hatch. Dragons of all colors had been on the move. He'd witnessed the blue attack the girl, and part of him wondered why it had been her--or any of them. It seemed a bit of a waste that someone so young could have done something to warrant that sort of response--but what did he know?
Not much.
He'd proven that a million times over much the past few Turns.
When the bronze dragon demanded the boys form a line, Rasthell watched as Lauthisen went, though he hesitated himself. He wasn't bronze material--he knew that well in his hearts. Not, of course, that he didn't think he couldn't Impress one, he just never really saw himself on such a color. Bronzes were meant for far greater men than he--and while it might risk the ire of the Christmas Tree bronze, Rasthell remained. He'd catch up with his friend afterwards. The little blue, the little greens, those were dragons he much rather thought more his style.
Of course, not long after Lauthisen had gotten in line, then the very blue that had savaged the girl had been after him! Except--it wasn't to savage, thank Faranth. Instead, it appeared as if his had Impressed. Lauthisen had finally found his! It was a glorious moment, and one that brought Rasthell close to tears.
Except, much to his shame, he knew those tears he kept back were less out of excitement and more out of a reminder that, should he also not Impress, he'd be going back to Western alone. Perhaps they hadn't been close friends, but he had enjoyed the others quiet company. Now... well...
It didn't matter.
Trying desperately to shove his mixed-feelings down, he kept his smile in place and gave an approving nod as they passed. He'd catch up to him later, congratulate him truly, after the Hatching, when he had better composure. Just a few more eggs...
Maybe his heart wasn't in it. Maybe that was the problem. He was too old for High Reaches standards, after all; if he'd been one of their Candidates, he would have been long sent back to Keroon. Just like he'd been blind to the reality of what had gone on with his ex, maybe he was deluding himself with all this. Something to think about later though. Not here. Not now.
Just happiness.
Happiness. Happiness. Why was it so hard to conjure?
Maybe it was hard because, at this point in his life, he wasn't really very happy at all.
Tsunake Just a minor mention. He is actually happy for him, I promse. LOL - - - - -
Chayrel He... he'd done it.
He'd Impressed.
While Chayrel had almost objected to being called princess by some Candidate, when he'd whirled around, it wasn't a Candidate at all but a brown dragon. The brown dragon who had come into the world with such flourish and now--now was taking Fehral into his wings, with eyes that whirled rainbow. His best-friend, his lover, his Fehral had done it!
He'd Impressed a dragon!
The joy he felt was genuine. Excitement welled up in him, and though he retreated a few steps to give them space, for a shining moment he was nothing but genuine joy. Not just any dragon either, but a handsome brown--a fine, strapping fellow at that! "You--You did it!" He stammered, his incredulousenss clear. The other dragons on the Sands were forgotten as he gazed at this moment between Fehral and his brown....
But too soon, too quickly, the reality began to dawn on him.
Fehral had Impressed, and he... He had not.
Just like Fehral had Impressed a flit first, the feeling of envy, followed by fear, gripped him. Soon, he knew, he would be taking him off to the others as a newly minted rider. Soon, he knew, he would be find himself alone on these Sands and a desperation gripped him. What would happen if he didn't Impress? Oh, he wasn't quite close to aging out, but these past few Turns he'd fallen into ... security with Fehral.
He wasn't just his lover, but his very best-frend. Practically his only friends--though even Kaiator had gone off and Impressed a bronze. And he'd only recently been Searched.
The feelings bubbled up so quickly he struggled to contain them--he didn't, and couldn't, think anything poorly of the brown or Fehral. This was their shining moment--and he would never, ever spoil it. But secret pains, secret fears, were hard to ignore in these moments of great feeling. They wouldn't blame him, would they? He ... He was trying so hard to be happy, but the devastation and fear that gripped his core was so very hard to hide.
He would be alone again.
Well. Surely, this wouldn't change them, would it? And yet--he knew well that riders loved Theirs more than anyone. He could be second, couldn't he? Of course he could--and he would--at least until he aged out. And then... Well. Surely, he could find a reason to stay, find a way to be useful. He was hardy. He was capable.
And he was... insignificant next to his new brownrider boyfriend.
Certainly.
His smile wavered, but in his strongest hour, he kept it on his face. It probably looked more feral than anything, but what could you expect from a half-illiterate mine kid from Nabol?
Mr Cheri He is genuinely happy for him! LOL Just mine kid anxiety.

The poised green looked out about the Candidates. Most of the boys were gathered around her brothers, which was just fine by her. Instead, she turned her eyes onto those who weren't in line.
Finally, she strode from her spot, moving first to look over some of the girls. Sweet child, you are beautiful inside and out--even when covered with egg. Stay strong and keep the faith. You will be the sun and moon and stars to Yours whenever you might find them. She gave Avali a gentle nuzzle, before carrying on her way.
Next she found her way over to sweet Chakuri. She remembered her. Sending the young woman a wave of happiness and sweet support, she also offered her a little boop. You're stronger than you know and don't need to be ordered into a line, nor to follow so blindly. Make your way way, no matter what comes. You're perfect just as you are. With one last gentle thrum, the little green continued on her way.
