Finnisa—High Reaches—She/Her Thankfully the dragonets at last moved, moved off Oreune and let her be carried swiftly to the healers. Finnisa tracked her for a moment... but only for a moment, before forcing her eyes away from the limp and battered form her almost-could-be-friend, and back to the dragonets. There was still a chance they'd kick off again, and she wanted to be able to dodge away if they did. Not to mention, it had been drilled into her to maintain her focus on being positive, open, and attentive. If one of them was meant for her, she needed to be ready. Not to mention... there was nothing she could do for Oreune. She was no healer, by any stretch. She knew ovines, and could deliver an ovling, sure, but... She just hoped that the damage wasn't as bad as it had looked.
Alone now, despite the crowd, Finnisa scanned the hatchlings quietly. Three greens, three blues... and a bronze, of course, but other than clocking where he was so she could step aside, he was above her notice, really. Even at Western, a bronze wouldn't pick a girl, after all. Her heart rate had begun to slow, and with the surge of adrenaline in the moment fading, her hand began to smart more, and she took a quick look to find a thin, still-gently weeping red line cut clean across the back of it. Still, it was only a scratch, and would keep until the hatching ended. She refisted it into the side of her robes, letting them serve as impromptu bandage, and refocused on the hatchlings. Thankfully things seemed mostly settled now. "Glad that's over..." she said to no one in particular.

Rian - she/her - HR
Everything had been fine one moment, and then the next there were babies fighting and candidates caught in the middle --- and in the most unfortunate case, under. Helping them seemed like a good idea, but getting involved in this would likely only make things worse, so as much as Rian wanted to head over that way, she held still until things were broken up and the most grievously-wounded candidate was carted to the healers' at a run. Oh, she hoped she'd be okay, that looked awful.
The dragonets, at least, seemed mostly alright, if upset and shaken.
And there'd been two impressions, one to the girl who'd been right next to her! She barely had time to realize that's what happened before the girl and her green were off at a run; no time to even give congratulations or anything! That was... maybe a little disappointing, that she couldn't, but it was okay! Both of them were just so energetic that they couldn't contain themselves, so the match made sense, and she wished them (and the little brown who had been caught up in the fight, who it seemed had also found His) all the best. This was their day, why shouldn't they celebrate it how they chose?
Besides, there was still so much going on!

Bukichi
The confrontation between the green and brown dragons had intensified, and Bukichi grimaced as a few Candidates got caught underneath. The bigger man looked bloodied and stunned, but had gotten back onto his feet. The girl... Things looked less optimal, and Bukichi turned away from the sight of the Healer working quickly on her wounds. There was nothing he could do.
He had noticed that the second brown that had emerged was gone once more, slunk back into the shadows. More and more were beginning to Impress--he noted one girl and a green racing across the sands, while the first brown limped desperately after another boy only to be embraced once they finally met.
Who would be next, he wondered? The green that had accidentally wounded some was stalking off, trailed by the Orange Leopard Spotted green that had been cuddling with her mother until now. Bukichi could sympathize. She'd wanted one thing, and it has escalated into a mess.
--
Serrekhar
"Good." He grunted, because... because that girl really looked like a mess... and she couldn't... she wasn't going to die, was she? He suddenly didn't feel good at all. He knew he'd need to get his cuts and scratches tended to eventually, but... It was one thing to hear about what could go wrong at a Hatching, and another to see it.

Zh'gan and Manahahtath
Zh'gan really hadn't been expecting to find his lifemate today. Hoping? Yes. Hoping hard? Yes! It was never entirely easy to leave the Sands after a Hatching having seen so many happy meetings occur without having had one himself. But he'd learned not to expect.
And so he'd been surprised. Caught off-guard. But only for a moment, because there was no second-guessing or being off-balance with Manahahtath at his side.
The bronze had been desperately hungry by the time they reached the tables and Zh'gan had felt no urge to do anything but cut meat and settle his dragon's churning stomach. Now that he'd had time to take care of that need, however, his attention had wandered a little, back to the sands and the troubles brewing there. To his friends and his family, for Faranth's sake. Dystzha was still out there!
You have not done anything wrong, Mine. You are where you are mean to be, here, beside me, now and always.
"Right. I know. I just--" Zh'gan answered aloud without thinking.
The little bronze rumbled lowly and paused in his chewing to butt his nose against Zh'gan's side, pulling his attention back to where it belonged. They are there. They will be there. We will be near them again soon and all will be well. Now. I would like more to eat. That piece looks good to me. He swung his nose back to point at a thick slab that nardly needed any cutting at all. Not for him.
Zh'gan, having given in with a laugh and a nod, was in the process of obliging when Nashwa and Ilaorunth came to the tables. Meat on his hands, Zh'gan looked for a place to wipe them and thought briefly of brushing them against his robe. It would be washed and reworn so it wouldn't matter much.
It matters, Manahahtath countered. Find something else to use. The dragon finished his mouthful, then swung his head again, this time to look toward his golden sister and her new partner. I would not have left you at all, Ilaorunth, if Mine had not been waiting, of course. Thank you for your understanding. Now that we've both found Ours, there's no need to be separated much at all.
For his part, Zh'gan gave Nashwa a broad smile and said, "Congratulations. She's beautiful," because of course she was. And then Fahn and Alenciath bounded up and his smile turned into another laugh. "Hey there," he answered. "They're quick when they're hungry, eh?"
It is meat, Kahveth, Manahahtath answered his brown brother with a note of indulgent amusement. It is all good to eat. But there, that piece by your nose. You should ask Yours to try that one first. It looks tasty.

Elibrie - she/her
Elibrie had been deeply relieved when little Rose green Impressed and was carried off the Sands by her chosen, and the rest of the babies continued to go about their business, whether that business was socializing or looking for Theirs, or just not being quite ready to come out yet. The young Queen found her rider, and Elibrie's heart sighed. She had rather hoped she might want her sister, but at the same time, a selfish little part of her was glad, because she had been and still was terribly worried about what would happen if Oranie were to Impress here at Western. Going back to High Reaches without her sister would be just...awful.
But there wasn't much time to get lost in such thoughts before chaos broke loose, and a brown and green started scrapping - doing no small amount of collateral damage. With a gasp, she pressed up against Oranie again, all too glad that Juhvek was there to guard them from harm.
Or at least, provide an illusion of safety. Elibrie knew there was only so much he could do if it came down to it, but it still meant something.

Fahn and Alenciath
Just now! Alenciath answered Kahveth brightly, half propped into Fahn's lap. Where the young woman's leg bounced restlessly, the green's tail whipped against the ground. Food was necessary, but holding still? That was hard. Fortunately, Alenciath had at least an ounce of patience in her to await her first bite of meat, and then the second, seemingly unbothered by the fact that their Manahahtath hadn't deemed her worthy to speak to. That was his loss!
Of course it's good! They'd never give us bad meat! there was no judgement to her brother's declaration, simply affirmation that really, no matter what piece he'd gotten or whatever bucket anybody ended up choosing and being fed from, everybody was going to get something wonderful! And tasty! And - More please! she peered up at Fahn entreatingly and was rewarded with another neatly cut piece.
"Not just cause she's hungry," Fahn corrected Zh'gan with a smile that shared the same lack of judgement that Alenciath seemed to possess in that moment. "Food is good, though. Anybody who wouldn't come running for a good meal isn't living their life right," was raw meat a good meal to Fahn? Not particularly. "We'll be first at the Feast if we have our way, on the note of runnin' for a good meal."
She leaned against the table, not bothering to offer one of her messy hands. "I'm Fahn, by the way. From High Reaches," well, she was from elsewhere, but she wasn't a Western Candidate by any stretch, "and this is my Alenciath."
Alenciath, for her part, was alternating between receiving food and peering off towards Triesteth as she was patched up with gentle blue eyes. What a good healer they have! she praised, content in knowing that her sister was going to be fine since she'd been rushed into the hands of someone who clearly knew what they were doing. You're going to be just fine! And then we'll all eat - do you want mine to bring the food to you? - and then we'll party! It's such a great day!
A great day to hatch and find theirs!

Lelte In normal instances, she would not have allowed herself to be pushed back. Lelte was strong enough to handle things on her own, thank you very much. And she knew beeter than to get in the midst of dragonets fighting, so Halvor's actions were unnecessary, but with the welt on her leg, and the muscles starting to lock, she couldn't move fast enough, so she allowed it.
It seemed he acted just in time as the fighting intensified. And more dragonets came over and got involved. This... this was more action than she wanted to be near, even if only on the fringes. A feeling that was reinforced when the candidate was taken off the sands in pretty bad shape. Yeah, no. Standing behind others was sounding better and better. Wouldn't Tandry be pleased.
She nodded at the other girl with a smile. It was the polite thing to do to acknowledge, but without being directly addressed, she felt it was better to keep her eyes on what was going on, and sending good vibes to the dragonets. Especially as the fighting seemed to start petering off.
Aww, poor baby Spotted Green. She looked so small now that she had curled back on the sands. She sent warm kind thoughts her way, hoping that it wouldn't be too forward, and that it helped. It really looked like she could use it after all, even if she wasn't hers.

Eliaza It was definitely a roller coaster sort of day. From being completely overwhelmed by everything going on, to being overwhelmed at being able to actually touch the little gold before she Impressed, to dragonets fighting each other and trampling Candidates -- "Whuff!" The word, or sound, or whatever it was, burst out of Eliaza, and she clapped a hand over her mouth a moment too late.
"Sorry," she murmured to Alisaide. "It's just ... so much and all at once. It's good! Mostly good, but it's so ... much!" After a moment, she added, "I think I'm going to sleep very well tonight." And a moment after that: "I hope we all come out of this all right. Whether we have dragons beside us or not."

Ollandin Ollandin had been very keyed into the fighting and posturing going on between the greens and browns, on top of the poor Candates to be close enough to suffer for their frustrations. He hadn't made a move closer, because that would have been reckless in the extreme, but he'd watched, brow furrowed, and a hand on Ollanmar's shoulder.
Now that it looked like it had settled down, a little at least, he blew out an audible breath and relaxed. Marginally. Glanced at his brother, then to the two blues still showing off, and cracked a tenative little smile. "Blue's a nice color..."
