The dangers of thread were all around them and they were doing fairly well until a clump was whipped not downwards or sideways but upwards by the wind and tangled around Neirinth's tail. He made a loud noise and lept between to crack it off, his eyes rolling a light red from indignation.

Even though they were out of the highest altitude it didn't spare Neirinth's already worn out wings. He was trying to keep it laid back and take it easy of course but the winds were pressing at him. It took an effort, but he kept them level and in place.

Yes he was feeling worn out, both of them were certainly feeling worn out. But on top of the weariness there was suddenly a very strong feeling of... wrong. Neirinth left himself for the briefest of moments as he reached out and felt the unconscious mind of the larger yet younger brown that should have been there. F'nar flinched when the realization dawned on both of them.

There's nothing we can do right now, there's no way to avoid some pain, anyone can be taken down. Neirinth said calmly, wrapping F'nar in gentle calm feelings as the blond's heart started to hammer in panic. They didn't die... so they're with the healers and there's... hope. He'd hold onto that as best he could for now so he didn't scream.

You notice that one of your wingmates is in trouble. Look out! Your dragon screams warning, and you watch as they successfully dodge catastrophe. Quote a Wingmate who took damage to Nullify Damage for that post! The quoted wingmate can remove that damage, unless they have already returned to the Weyr for healing or are already playing out a KO'd scenario.

The hour crept on, slowly but surely. Although Bossuth had gone down, he'd been caught - and thus far no others in their wing had fallen from the skies. It was a small victory, but G'rey was willing to take it nonetheless. When they had already lost a pair, every moment spent without losing another was a moment worth appreciating. Not that they particularly had time to appreciate it the way it deserved when they were still in Threadfall, even if they were closer to the end of it than they were the beginning.

And perhaps it was that knowledge that had granted Karhath his second wind, just as much as their brief stint on the ground had. For now, he was sharp and alert. His eyes were the ones that spotted a great clump of Thread heading for one of their wingmates, and he bugled and shouted at their dragon to dodge now. G'rey could only watch in satisfaction as they blinked out of existence just a moment before it hit them, reappearing safely out of read of the Thread.

The greens, and blues don't seem to be having trouble sweeping up thread. Yeehaw! This isn't so bad! [+3 Agility] Browns and bronzes, you're struggling just a bit more getting around all the blowing clumps and individual strands. Still, it's good practice! [+1 Agility]

G'rey knew that Karhath was riding the high of successfully warning a wingmate of danger. He was as well - proud of his dragon's sharp eyes and quick thinking. He didn't think it was a bad thing to take pride in saving one of their own from disaster, especially not with how this Threadfall had been going thus far. But their focus couldn't remain split for very long.

As well as they were doing, the middling altitudes offered different challenges than the higher one they'd just been in. It wasn't difficult to clear spots where Thread was densest, and open space in the lower altitudes was normal. But here there was a much greater room for error - the thick sheets easily flamed down were the boon of the higher altitudes, leaving it more difficult to clear space while also leaving less room to maneuver. But Karhath was doing well dodging the blowing clumps to flame down what he could reach.

That had to be good enough.

Thread falls, and a sneaky strand winds up chewing on your wingsail. You pop Between to ease the pain, and come out flaming. It hurts, but it's small tubers compared to what it could have been! [+1 Pain Resilience]

The next clump of Thread that falls their direction is respectably sized. Small enough that they could tell the high altitude wing wasn't slacking, but large enough to be easy enough to flame down. Perhaps that was why they didn't notice the single strand that had separated from the clump - at least not until it had landed on Karhath's wingsail.

He let out a surprised yelp, popping between to kill the strand before returning to flame down the offending clump it had originated from. G'rey could tell from his irritated snort that the wound wasn't remotely serious. If anything, his dragon was annoyed that he hadn't spotted the tiny strand before it had managed to land on him.

They maneuver as they can, but still wind up scored. Minor Damage -2 HP

The wind seemed to be picking up yet again. That had been the ongoing trend for this Threadfall. Right when it seemed like the wind might begin to die down, it kicked up into great buffeting gusts once more, threatening to throw even the larger dragons out of formation if they weren't properly braced. And while thankfully the wind hadn't kicked up quite that badly, it was certainly strong enough to send the Thread flying much more dangerously than it had been previously.

And alert as G'rey and Karhath might have been, small as Karhath was for a brown, they couldn't quite dodge it all. It was a minor score that caught the forks of Karhath's tail, making him hiss briefly as he popped between to kill the Thread and send it falling to the lower wings.

As you're fighting Thread, you see your nearby wingmate in danger. You immediately blink between, falling out of formation, but hoping to save them! Roll a D4.

The fight continued. Their alertness continued. G'rey and Karhath were doing well. What Thread reached them was flamed down to the best of their ability, and they continued to dodge what couldn't be flamed down. The injuries Karhath had received the last hour were minor at best, hardly noticed as more than just the tiniest sting if he pulled his hide just a bit too far near them.

It all could have continued to go well if Karhath hadn't spotted another of their wingmates in danger. And riding high on their previous successful save, rather than shouting a warning they instead hopped between to flame down the Thread that threatened them. It would have been fine had they not overshot the jump - and their appearance proved to be a distraction to their wingmate. The Thread they had intended to save them from made contact, and they vanished between before reappearing further away.

G'rey could feel the wallowing pit of guilt that yawned open in Karhath's chest. They had been trying to help and had only made things worse.

It'll be alright. We'll apologize to them later, when everyone's back at the Weyr and patched up.

You overshoot, and listen to your wingmates scream in pain as they're caught by thread, distracted from their fight by your sudden presence. Oh no! [Take 3 turns of Guilt! +5 Extra XP Points You did great! We're not sure what you did, but you did great. Fill in post being successful or doing something like not-dying, and you can give yourself 5 extra XP points! You may put them all in one stat (at the game's end) or break them apart.

While the guilt still weighed on them, that did not give them a pass to stop their fight to wallow in it. So G'rey nudged Karhath forward again, sending him a wave of reassurance even though he felt equally as terrible about the injuries they'd just caused. And not even for the first time this fall - although he dared not mention it to his already aggrieved dragon.

For now, however, they needed to return to their position in the wing. The fight continued, and although Karhath still felt terrible, he continued to flame as was his duty.

1. A larger clump of Thread falls down hard and fast. Thankfully, your dragon is on top of it, and manages to hit the target with a large belch of flame just as it passes. [+1 Target Accuracy]

No sooner had they returned to formation than Thread seemed to rain down harder on them than before. Simariath was in good spirits though and flamed down a clump as it sailed by, turning it to harmless ash.

Harbingers Wing
Wingsecond Ash'il of Bronze Iptoneth
HP: 18/42
Status Effect:
XP:
Target Accuracy: 6 (+1 to be added after Threadfall)
Flame Length: 7 (+2 to be added after Threadfall)
General Stamina: 9 (+9 to be added after Threadfall)
General Agility: 8
Between Accuracy: 6 (+2 to be added after Threadfall)
Pain Resilience: 8 (+2 to be added after Threadfall)
Instinct: 6 (+1 to be added after Threadfall)
Luck: 7 (+1 to be added after Threadfall)

Ash'il knew the Thread wouldn't let up, it would keep them busy. It seemed somehow he missed a strand that managed to sneak past. However, a roar of pain from under him made him look down and see it chewing on Iptoneth's wingsail. He had him jump Between to help with the pain and make sure the Thread was dead. When they came back, he wasn't surprised as Iptoneth began flaming once more.

That hurt a bit, but we have dealt with worse,Iptoneth thought.

First Wave Rolls

Hour 1, Round 1 (Low Alt)
1. 13) Trying valiantly to catch some thread, your dragon flames a bit sooner than you would have preferred. Surprisingly enough, the flame is long, hot, and sustained longer than usual. Your dragon manages to flame the clump and return to their position in their wing. [+1 Flame Length]
2. 5) A small clump of Thread has fallen through! You successfully flame it down. [+1 Target Accuracy]
3. 11) You check in on your dragon to ensure they're doing all right. Thankfully, your dragon responds that they're feeling fine. All that training and practicing is coming full circle, as your dragon isn't feeling particularly fatigued. If they are suffering from a Fatigue Effect, they get a burst of renewed energy and the status is removed. [+1 Stamina] If your dragon isn't suffering, you are allowed to quote a fellow wingmate (must be in your same wing) who is suffering the effect! Your dragon trumpets at them encouragingly, making them feel better, and giving them a renewed burst of energy and effort. Remove Fatigue Effect from one wingmate!
4. 7) Oh no, look out! A small clump of thread broke through the ranks, and has managed to hit your and your dragon. It is an ugly tangle, and though you blink between, it's going to hurt! [Moderate Damage -5 HP. You are now flying with a Painful status effect. This will negate your next immediate rolls XP and double damage if the roll includes set damage (or has you roll for damage).
5. 20) Something doesn't feel right. You wind up glancing over your shoulder just in time to see a small, silver strand drifting dangerously close to your dragon. Thankfully, your dragon shares your thoughts, and is able to blink Between and higher above their position, missing the strand, and saving yourself from a score. [+1 Instinct] (Negated by painful effect)

Hour 1, Round 2 (Low Alt)
(Since there was a -1, +5, -3 from WL/WS rolls, added one back to HP after all of it lol)
1. 12) By Faranth! You and your dragon pull off a pretty awesome move to catch some Thread that's fallen through. You're able to save one of your Wingmates! Quote one of your Wingmates who took damage this Round! This will remove damage and any possible negative effect from that roll!

2. 9) Your dragon notices a sudden writhing stream of silver thread out of the corner of his or her eye. If a white, green, or blue, with surprising grace, they turn on a wingtip and manage to flame it to ash. You successfully flame it down. [+2 Target Accuracy] If a brown or bronze, you find yourself unable to dodge, and take a hit! [Minor Damage if Bronze - 1 HP // Moderate Damage if Brown - 3 HP]
3. 8 ) Your dragon dives for a strand of thread that has fallen through the upper wings. Right before they belch forth their flame, they suddenly jerk hard to the right, almost in a roll, and quite unexpectedly. Sure enough, a gust of wind would have whipped the thread back in their face! Instead, the strand whips by, and your dragon is able to successfully flame it. [+1 Instinct]
4. 6) A strong gust of wind suddenly pushes you off course and right into a sliver of Thread! If you're a bronze or brown, you or your dragon take a scathing hit, unable to get out of the way. [Minor Damage -3 HP] If you're a blue or green, you wind up twisting easily out of the way, flaming it down successfully! [+1 Stamina]

5. 12) By Faranth! You and your dragon pull off a pretty awesome move to catch some Thread that's fallen through. You're able to save one of your Wingmates! Quote one of your Wingmates who took damage this Round! This will remove damage and any possible negative effect from that roll!

Hour 2, Round 1 (High Alt)
(Added +5HP from Weyrleader at changeup. Also have one status save)
1. 14) The thread is thick and coming down fast. Unlike the lower wings, you don't have to chase this Thread around -- it's just about everywhere you turn! This is what your dragon was made for, this is what you, as a rider, were meant to do. Burn down those Threads so they are no longer a threat to your wingmates and the people of Pern! Your dragon flames a patch ahead of them, clearing some airspace for your wingmates below. +1 Flame Length

2. 16) The wind picks up, and you fight to keep in formation. Your wings strain, but you're able to keep your place! Though your muscles ache, you're not going to give up so easily. Pern depends on you! +2 Stamina
3. 18 ) Are you feeling lucky? Well you should! Free reply! Respond to this post with any action pertaining to Threadfall, and gain a little luck. [+1 Luck]
4. 1) Blasted all! As you jump Between to avoid a clump of Thread, the winds change, and when you appear from the icey depths, it's right into a major sheet of Thread! Heavy Damage: -8 HP! They also now suffer a Painful status for the next 3 turns. This will negate any XP gained, and cause double damage if the prompt includes damage (or has you roll for damage).
5. 6) As you're flying, the wind picks up again, trying to knock you out of formation!
- If 36'-46', you're able to fight the wind with relative ease. Unfortunately, the nearby Threadfall gets blown into your side and haunches -- and you were too big to move out of the way. Ouch! Moderate Damage -8 HP (x2)

Hour 2, Round 2 (High Alt)
(no rolls done for this day, since I was off computer)

Second Wave Rolls

Hour 3, Round 1 (Mid Alt)
(Painful removed from weyrleader boon and +5HP added)
1. 4) You're so focused on flaming Thread that you miss a clump of thread blows up on the wind -- beneath you! If a greeen, or blue, you manage to jump Between ahead of it. Thankfully, your smaller size means you're able to avoid getting harmed! [+1 Between Accuracy] If a brown or bronze, your heavier size does cause your tail to get caught! [+1 Between Accuracy & Minor Damage - 2 HP!]
2. 18 ) Thread falls, and a sneaky strand winds up chewing on your wingsail. You pop Between to ease the pain, and come out flaming. It hurts, but it's small tubers compared to what it could have been! +1 Pain Resilience]
3. 2) As you're flaming down some Thread, a gust of wind suddenly pushes the remaining cloud back at you and your dragon. You've no choice but to blink Between to avoid it, and appear higher up, missing the clump. The rest of the thread falls down towards the lower altitude. [+1 Between Accuracy]
4. 16) The wind is fierce and fighting you. Greens, and blues will struggle against it, trying valiantly to keep in formation! [+1 Stamina] Browns and Bronzes can feel the strain, but it's nothing they can't seem to handle. [+3 Stamina]
5. 16) The wind is fierce and fighting you. Greens, and blues will struggle against it, trying valiantly to keep in formation! [+1 Stamina] Browns and Bronzes can feel the strain, but it's nothing they can't seem to handle. [+3 Stamina]

Hour 3, Round 2 (Mid Alt)
1. 18 ) Thread falls, and a sneaky strand winds up chewing on your wingsail. You pop Between to ease the pain, and come out flaming. It hurts, but it's small tubers compared to what it could have been! +1 Pain Resilience]
