((I'd think dumbfounded confusion would be in there somewhere, but shock and horror work too. XD ))
"OH GODS DAMMIT!!" Van cursed when he finally figured out what the problem was.
"Great, more magical issues to deal with." Kai said rolling his eyes with a sigh as he got up and brushed himself off while glancing at his dad flailing in frustration and annoyance on the ground. "Look, your machines are a pile of scrap and my dad's a sex change away from turning random adventurers to stone in a cave somewhere. Are we done here?"

Mala gently handed Anise to the ever so silent Larai before rushing over to help Van up. "Honey, are you okay? Aside from the snake tail thing, I mean?" she asked worriedly.

"Yeah, though I'm not sure I can speak for my pride at the moment...." Van grumbled as he slowly raised himself up, wobbling a bit as he tried to adjust to the new sense of balance he found himself needing.

Mala kept her arm around his shoulder, trying her best to help him find balance. "Don't worry, okay? I'll take plenty of opprotunities to help you fill it back up later, I promise."

"I feel ridiculous..." Van whined as he halfway buried his head in her shoulder as he managed to slither along beside her before sighing. "On the plus side, a massive wave of magic shooting across the sky all over the world should convince a good chunk of the population that the gods are still real. That, and Atius shouldn't be waking up any time soon by the looks of it."

"I know, it's just weeeeeeird!" Van said, like a child complaining about how boring school is, before sighing. "At least my top half's still in tact. Means I can still do this at least." he said before giving her a kiss on the cheek.
((I have the sudden hilarious mental image of snaketail!Van scooting around a room while giving a young Anise a ride while they both go "WHEEE! 8D" XD ))

((I'm pondering making an attempt, but I need to go to bed in an hour if I want any semblance of sleep, and I need to run around buying food for my batshit english professor tomorrow. rolleyes ))

(( Sweet doughy dumplings of a sort. :3)) "Well, I can safely say people are begging for forgiveness for abandoning their gods, so I should be back up to godhood in a day at most." Van said rubbing his chin in thought. "For now though, let's just go with that fourth wall thing of yours. The sooner we get back, the sooner I can curl up and mope." he said half jokingly.
