A faint smile lingered on Smoke's face, watching Lonomia's attempts to smoke the cigarette. It reminded him of his own first try--neglecting the embers, however--at a bar just after he'd been informed that his contract would not be renewed. A woman had offered him a drag, if he remembered correctly. "It takes a few tries," he murmured thoughtfully, repeating the very words she had given him. She had laughed when she'd said it, too.
He didn't know if it was a particularly good idea to give a cigarette to a Chimera. Lonomia could develop an addiction to the nicotine and become physically dependent on more, depending on his bio-structure, or one of the animal traits within him could react badly. The majority of the DNA of all the Chimerae was human though, which led him to reason that it should be all right for just one cigarette. He sat down and took out another cigarette and a lighter, hiding the flame behind his palm. Save fire for some other time.
Panther crept forward cautiously, noting the goings-on with childish simplicity. Even living in the slaughterhouse for years hadn't totally smashed out her naivete, though she knew well enough to remain quiet.
John growled menacingly at Devon, but his eyes began to go hazy. Soon, he would be unconscious once again.
((Is it so necessary to post a one-liner for John for Devon to continue? His reactions should be totally predictable by now xD
Hurts a lot = John screams. Devon talks = John growls. lol))

Lonomia had no idea what the whitecoat had said. He thought maybe he wanted his stick back, but he'd already taken another one, so that couldn't be the case.
Lonomia studied Smoke. He again picked up the cigarette and again held it to his lips. He sucked in more slowly this time. The coughing wasn't as bad as the first (as he had pulled in the air with all that he had), and it didn't burn so much. He was able to hold on to the stick, at least.
The first time he hadn't noticed, but this time, a trail of grey smoke slithered out of his mouth when he exhaled. Just like the whitecoat!
Excitement decided that it was time for another experiment. This time, Lonomia drew in only a mouthful and held it there before swallowing. His face crinkled up; it wasn't as hot that way and it tasted awful. He clicked his tongue to help clear away the taste of stale smoke.
Inhale.
The warmth of the smoke in his body was nice, comforting. It was easy to see why Smoke always had one, but he wondered why none of the other whitecoats did.
Exhale.
He didn't realize that the other Chimerae were all staring at him; they never had before, so he didn't think to look.
Inhale.
His head was becoming light and airy.
Exhale.
A normal breath cleared that up. Lonomia loved the white stick; there was all kinds of fun you could have with it!
Inhale.
It wasn't so cold in his cell anymore.
Long exhale.
The cigarette was almost spent.
((I hope no one ever sees my search history; how am I supposed to explain searches for what your first smoke is like? Ha, ha!))

((I have a lot of weird searches on Google from my roleplays xD))
Smoke watched him in amusement for a moment, then eyed the gray tendrils from his own cigarette curl upwards and fade as it reached the ceiling. If the Chimera was so interested in something like smoke, imagine what would happen if he faced the rest of the world. Any of them who hadn't been on the outside would be terribly confused. It was like being a baby, he supposed, seeing everything so new and fascinating. Learning what to do, what not to do, what's fun, and what's painful.
Panther fidgeted in her cage, watching Trent as he sat down, leaning against the side of a desk to watch Lonomia play with the cigarette. The child in her didn't like being left out, but she didn't want to try the stuff either. John told her smoking was bad for you, but the scientist looked alright. A lot of other people looked fine too, out there. It was just the old ones that got all wrinkly and smelly when they smoked.
Something clicked inside her mind. If it only hurt you when you were old, and your first time, why would people keep breathing in the stuff? It didn't smell good. "Why do you smoke?" she blurted out.
Breaking his gaze off from the wispy clouds, Trent turned to look at her. "It's a way to relax. And I'm addicted."
Panther didn't respond, but she didn't know what "addicted" was. She thought it was another cuss word that men called each other, because it sounded similar. Now why would he call himself that?

"Smoke", "relax". Indeed. Lonomia stopped holding the cigarette with his hand, being like the whitecoat. Lonomia came to the understanding that "smoke" was the whitecoat, the stick, and the activity. The whitecoat is Smoke. The stick is a smoke. He is smoking.
It's a sad thing he didn't have the words for it. "Lonomia smoke," he mumbled to himself, confirming use of the new adjective. "Addicted," he mimicked the new word.

((sorry Autumn, you alredy know my excuses lol))
Iruka had been watching lomina and the white coat as if in a trance, he had no room for anything else inside his mind nothing but hate and suspicion towards the the man standing before Lomina's cage. Sko words reached him way after they were spoken, weather this was due to the current situation or an aftermath of his encounter with lomina, Iruka hurried up to answer Sko's question while still watching Lomina carefully "Nothing special hun, just your average Happy touch..."

Apsalar watched the goings-on with tired, distracted eyes. Her head was screaming, and every time someone spoke, it was on par with a shout directly in her ear. And the light hurt more than it ever had - especially considering that, well, it wasn't all that bright in here.
She noted Tobart's glance in her direction, and wondered what he was thinking about. Or if he was thinking of anything at all. Sometimes she did that - ended up staring absently at one of the other Chimera, not really thinking of anything in particular. It didn't matter, she decided at last.
If he wanted to say something to her, he would.
In the meantime, she half-closed her eyes against the light, tried to pretend that the pain in her head was easing, and decided that she should probably go to sleep. She was tired - probably delayed reaction to the operation. Or...
No, she was fine.
She crawled to the back corner of her cage - where she'd been storing her rat until recently - and curled up there. It was a little quieter, and a little darker. On a sigh, she shut her eyes.

[[Gastronemius bump.]]
[[As for recap, John and Panther have been recaptured and John has been continually put through hell. Apsalar just attacked Yani, and was punished for it. Lonomia discovered that his venom did not effect Iruka and rejoiced. Sko is teaching him words, and Smoke is giving him cigarettes, which is probably a bad idea. Hmm... guys, did I miss anything?]]

Sko gazed back at Iruka. Transfixed. She didn't understand, so she shrugged and turned away.

((hey, I'm back))
Devon took a few other samples from John and then couldn't decide what else to do. Feeling he was finished, Devon had TAIS return John to his cage, then began cleaning up.
That finished, Devon took off his medical gloves again and rinsed off his hands. He dried them and then stuck a pair of medical gloves in his shirt pocket, underneath his labcoat. He took a stroll back down to the chimera cages. He never moved his mask from his face.

As soon as John was in his cage and Devon had left, Panther practically threw herself against the wall of her cage to look at him. "John, are you okay?" she whispered hoarsely. Seeing him all covered in scratches was a horrible sight, even his skin was red like he had been slightly burned. She was lucky not to have seen him earlier, as the other Chimerae had. Now, at least, he was a little more cleaned up.
"I'm alright, Panther," he managed, stiffly getting into a curled up, resting position in the small cage. He frowned at her through the bars. "Wait, why..."
There was a clang from where John's foot hit the cage bar as he sat up abruptly. His hands went to the bars that separated his cage from hers. "Why are you here?!" he yelled furiously. He kicked at the bars and shook the cage violently, making all the ones adjacent to him rattle as well. "Why?!"
Smoke stood up, hearing the commotion. Who wouldn't hear it though?
Stalking over to their cages, he noticed Devon enter the room as well, and he looked through the middle of the cages at John and Panther.
"Knock it off or I'll have you both placed in end cages. Understood?" End cages were simply that; cages at the end of the rows. In other words, they'd be far away and their familiar spots would no longer belong to them. It would be effective to stop them from fighting, but otherwise it wasn't too consequential.
Panther shied away from John, then from Smoke, huddling up in the farthest corner from the two. John had never yelled at her like that before. She waited until Smoke walked back down the row, satisfied that John was finished yelling, before she buried her head in her knees and cried again. Her eyes were going to get red and puffy again, like earlier.
John stared with murder in his eyes, at a camera, at Devon, at Smoke. This whole lab would go up in flames no matter what happened to him. He'd charge in there on fire himself if that's what it took.
His foot was sore from where he had kicked the bars, and the rest of him from the day's events.
And then he heard Panther's sobbing, and the hatred in his eyes turned to concern and regret. "Panther, I'm so sorry," he said quietly. "I didn't mean to yell at you..." I just never wanted you to get caught.

Apsalar, violently startled from her half-dozing state by the shaking and in pain from the shouting, flinched and growled despite herself. The hand closest to the floor curled up until her claws bit into the palm. Why couldn't everyone just be quiet?
She'd bloody well kill them all if that was what it took to get some silence.
It was that thought that made her realize just how out of it she was. Normally, such a consideration in regards to her fellow Chimerae would never even dare to think of crossing her mind. All right, so she was in trouble.
Whatever. It would heal. And she'd put up with any amount of pain before allowing any of those scientist butchers anywhere near her injured head.
So she crawled to the far side of the cage, as far away from the area where Panther and John's cages met as someone right on top of John's cage could get, and holed herself up there, tucking her head protectively under her half-unfolded wing so it couldn't get hurt anymore.
She shut her eyes and waited for the pain to go away.
It would eventually. It always did.

I tried to move with a cool hand... It didn't go as I planned.
I'm full of rookie maneuvers... and gestures meant to be grand.
"My daisy, you make me go crazy, forever amaze me. Now let's let the day go lazy." There was a giggle from above Panther's cage.
"Awe, poor baby."
Hiccadu lounged on top of Panther's prison, looking down with a very obvious, if not physical, grin on her features, her forepaws crossed over each other and her tail swaying side to side.
"You should be happy, little boy," she purred, slipping off from the top of Panther's cage to the floor like a snake to gaze at John in amusement. "We reunited you with your little girlfriend. That's no way to treat such a close acquaintance."
Turning to look at Panther, she lowered her head close to the ground- not threateningly, but in what seemed to be consolation, purring in a deep, reassuring tone.
"Poor girl. Look at that, you've made her sad." She shook her head, then looked back to John, and hissed, stepping slightly away from Panther's cage towards John's. "Little boys should be punished for such ill treatment of their little girls."
((Is there someone above Panther? If there is I'll have to find a way to edit. D: )) "My daisy, you know what I'm after- your musical laughter. A more beautiful disaster..."
I cant believe what you create... When you let your heart detonate.
You leave a path of delightful destruction. You're quite the bomb, my daisy... Daisy Cutter ~ 311
