[OOC]I still think that we need an OOC thread for rolling. It'd make this thread so much cleaner/more fluid.[/OOC]

((I agree, but only if we are going to have a bunch more people rolling for character making.))

Daya looks up at the bumbling wizard, curious as to why his eyes seemed to watch her so closely. Perhaps he has been touched by my work? Doubtful, the only ones who have ever seen me are the blood whores that threw me into this mess. There is no way he could recognize me from anywhere. she thinks to herself, trying to convince herself of that fact.
Glancing back at the cleric she scoffed.

Not all of us thought war would be some glorious adventure. I am here to survive so that I can continue my life without farther interruption; that is all.

Turning her back to Nolan she crosses her arms.

Besides, have you ever looked into the eyes of someone you have slain? Have you ever watched their soul melt away from their body, doubtful...because if you had there is no way you could have slept so soundly.

Amari looked at Daya nervously.

"Hey... we are supposed to be working together here, let him go. Not everyone is accustomed to killing. And magic has more uses than simply causing pain."

Amari turned to the man with the wings.

"Right?"

The area around is tense, but quiet, people rushing around in the dark using only the moon and the occasional lantern to see their paths. A thin man hurrying past a group of dwarves, who had been given the steryotypical order to "build something that could help." Their creation was a hastily slapped togeather ballista.

Some odd yelling came from the officers meeting room. somone stepped into the building(whatever building you're all in), and addressed the privates who were reading gear and their minds for what was coming. He spoke calmly and regularly. "The officers are relaying four minutes to the attack, be in ranks infront of the door in three, in order of bunker." He stepped out.

It looks like our time and chance for argueing is over. We will have to assume that there are no arguements against the Monk as Sergent and myself as Corperal.
If they want us by the door we are thought to be fodder. If we hold or run through enemy fire, they expect our bodies will be a bridge for them to safely cross on. Don't give them that pleasure men.
Any last thoughts from you Sergent?

She could only imagine what stupid idea those officers had come up with. If they really were surrounded fighting to hold could prove to be the worst move, they could easily be starved out. Running without a treaty means making a pile of bodies to use as a wall so that the officers can get out unscathed. She refused to die for them, if it was the last thing she would do is die. They sent her here because they didn't expect her to live through it, she would be damned if she would let them win. She would get through this and go back and kill the bastards for this, if it was the last thing she ever did.

[OOC]Blah, you must have posted that right when I started writing. xd [/OOC]

"Sir!" Jance rose to attention and gave a crisp salute. After the officer had left, he folded his arms, again. He looked between the cleric, the mage, and the halfling.

He first addressed the mage: "I would have thought it obvious from my choices that I am not looking for a strong arm as my corporal, but a tactician. Both of you must rely on tactics at some level to survive and that is what I am looking for, not combat prowless."

He turned and focused his attention on the halfling, "It is exactly that personality that I am relying on, that you will avoid battles where possible because of your will to live, but will not hesitate when difficult orders come -- you realize that death is unfortunate but integral. That is why you are under consideration."

He turned again and spoke to the cleric: "It seems you have grasped my thoughts well -- we must all continue to increase our skill or we will not last. We must fulfill our potential or we will be lost."

Finally, Jance spoke to them all; "We must, as the soldier said, work as a team. Brute force only works against weaklings -- we must use our strengths together if we are to complete our mission. We must grow as a team just as we grow as an individual.

If that is the decision, let us move out. You heard the officer -- the time is almost upon us.
"

Kavrus nodded, solemn, as Jance gave his orders. "I understand. My magic, for today, can be used to relay orders or target enemies. If you have orders to align with my abilities I suggest we get them specified before we're in battle." Turning to Nolan he nodded recognition of the cleric's profession. "If you don't mind, healer, could I ask for blessings this night?"

((Kavrus spoke with Nolan and Jance in the mess hall earlier but I don't think they were properly introduced. Plus all three came in the same group.))

{Edit:} ((I have to go. no net at home but I have to do my shift-end stuff at work now. Be back tomorrow morning, but maybe not online.))

Of course. May the divine light of Pelor shine on you and illumine your path.
His blessing given to the mage, Nolan turned towards the monk whom they had all appointed.
Anything else for us to do, Seargent? We await your orders.

"As it stands, here is what we have. We have been ordered to the front gate, presumably but not ultimately to stand with a hundred other men against an enemy numbering in the thousands. As I see it, our best chance is to take out their chain of command -- a precise strike to render them confused and chaotic. Jance spoke. "We must identify and put pressure on them. The ballista can be our ally and our enemy. When we identify the command and strike, be wary of ballista strikes.

We're moving to the gate now. As we move, provide me with your name and what you can do. I don't care if your skills encompass swinging a sword really hard or the sun comes out of your a** -- if you can do it I want to know it. Also, if you have any suggestions, this would be the best time to speak up.

So you know, I am Jance Virrent. As of this point you can call me Sergeant, Virrent, or Sergeant Virrent.
"

Jance about faced, exited the bunker, and began toward the gate.

Falling in behind Sergeant Virrent, Nolan provided his information.
Nolan Greythorne, Cleric of Pelor. Capable of healing, support, and damage

After checking over his equipment one last time, Amari approached the newly appointed sergent.

"My name is Amari Lariel. I uhhh... I mostly just fight. I have a pretty big sword..."

Amari laughed at how incredibly unintelligent that sounded.

"I wish I were a little more useful to you, but Ive never had any use for any of the things some of our companions are capable of, until now I guess. Not that I would have been very good with any magic or anything like that anyway..."

His voice trailed off as realized he had been talking too much.
