Yeah, I suppose. But balancing is all about building the deck, molding it to exactly what you need.
Magic just made the original concept and continuously gave it spins.
That was one problem with yu-Gi-Oh, it was just too simple for me. There were normal monsters, effect monsters, traps, continuous traps, counter traps, magic, continuous magic, quick play magic, equip magic, ritual magic. But it's all broken down into 3 basic types. with monsters each having one of 6 attributes and one of 20 types. (with the addition of secondary bonuses such as Gemini, Toon, and Spirit as examples.)
Always felt, too limiting, the cards didn't really leave room for much development on brand new elements.
magic has creatures from...I think the current creature-type count is in the 400s now. with only 5 attributes/colors.
Creatures, artifacts, enchantments, instants, sorceries, legendary, Tribal, and planeswalker now. but legendary, tribal, and even some artifacts and enchantments can be just subtypes. (there are artifact creatures, enchantment creatures, and pretty much legendary permanent)
The game just felt like even as structured as it was, they were setting it up to allow for more development.
Yu-gi -oh has already started reprinting cards with different names, attributes, and types but the same ability.

disliker of the mary sue well some pokemon like arcus or shymin or darkrai or mew or jirachi you get the picture need a action replay to get. I knowthere are 493 pokemon, I excluded Arceus, Darkrai, and Shaymin. I suppose I probably should have excluded celebi as well sicne I don't believe there's any way of obtaining her at all for Generation 4. As for the rest of the 489 pokemon, those are all obtainable. I don't have the means to get them all, but they are all obtainable without using an AR.

You sure? i've got a legitimate Moltres, Zapdos, Articuno, Mewtwo, Mew, groudon, Kyogre, Rayquaza, Regice, Registeel, Regirock, Latias, and Latios that I know are legitimate. again, I don't have the means to getting them myself, but I know how to obtain them legally.
