Uhm I guess to each their own but I can't personally imagine why anyone would think to make such a game let alone play it. Certainly doesn't raise my opinion of humanity very much... (sarcasm right there)

Taking the example of what I like to play: Rune Factory, Harvest Moon, Tetris, Nintendogs, Lost in Blue. I don't like violent games but I have Genji, and the latest Soul Caliber :pretty mild games full of the classic/cliché good verses evil monsters bit.

As for wether or not is should be sold in the US, I don't know that is should have been made to start with but that aside if people want it badly enough they will go buy it where ever it is sold. And it will certainly cause a scene if it is released here.

Edit: on a lighter note... Isn't soup kitchens for kittens called the back porch of the weird cat lady who lives down the road?
No offense meant though, it's something I'd probably do XD

I personally can't stomach these types of things. I'm a bit of a sucker for happy endings, so any form of concentrated misery, real or not, doesn't sit well with me. I can't stand it when women cry.
Maybe I'm just old-fashioned, but men aren't supposed to make women cry intentionally. It's just not right.

I'm currently hosting a contest in the ATG clan...

I still absolutely LOATHE the idea of this game. Just because it is available for sale only to adults doesn't mean that kids won't play it. I personally am all for banning this game, it sends a horrible message out to people. Not to mention, some assholes will start being more stereotypical towards gamers, and I really don't want to have to deal with that...

Here's my problem with banning ANYTHING. Where does it stop? We ban these games, then they ban porn games, which might be fine but then they ban games with any forms of violence and then we're stuck with games that are meant for 5 year olds. I may not like these games, I may hate them with every fiber of my being but I will never ever be okay with banning anything particularly something that isn't doing any physical harm to anybody. Hell I honestly thinking making these games in the first place is a bad idea but like I said, completely against banning.

Same could probably be said for letting games like this be made. What's next, I wonder?

People will always be more than willing to trade just a little bit more of their liberty for the illusion of safety and normality.

I got that from a movie, I'm just not sure which one it was. (Any ideas?)

To me, it's not the game that's flawed, but the perception of it. I know what you might be thinking: "How else do you expect me to perceive it?!" Well, think of it as an outlet, as was said previously, to frustrations or twisted fantasies that might be carried on in full force were it not for the deterrence.

I'm not saying that playing a game featuring rape and murder is going to completely prevent rapists and murderers from raping and murdering. By the same token, however, I'm not saying that these games incense such actions by any means.

Honestly Waku, I'm more afraid of losing my liberties than anything else anyone else could come up with. I'd rather have people come up with the most sick and twisted material in all of existence than to give up my right to play a violent video game or anything of the like. I like my freedom of speech and expression thank you very much.

Good argument, and one I can't argue with at that. In my opinion, though, this is too much. The idea of this game just... huh. It seems that having to babysit siblings all the time has made me seem more... caring. sweatdrop Anyway, there should be rules against how bad a game can be with violence and such. I do understand that it may be an outlet, I often end up venting frustrations on SSBM or Soul Calibur II, but this is ridiculous. I think people shouldn't get angry enough to do this sort of stuff, but unfortunately we do not live in a dream world. Therefore, people will do as they please. I really have issues with this game though.

The fact that this game has been made means it has to be made for all that freedom whatnots. But it still seems to be a rather disgusting game that makes my inner feminist want to scream. It's just as stupid game, but it doesn't do anyone any favors.

Oh trust me Roland I understand, like I said I hate this game with every fiber of my being but that doesn't mean I think it should be banned if only because of the reasons I stated before. I grew up helping to take care of my little sister and the top thing I learned is that parents and older sibling should be there for kids (older sibling assistance optional) It's the responsibility of those older to teach them what is and isn't okay and to protect them from stuff they shouldn't see. For example, Watchmen is a strong movie and I still took my 12 year old sister to see it because I know she's mature enough to handle it and because I was there with her to make sure she COULD handle it.

For the people who can't understand why people would play this game, it's for people like me. People who enjoy seeing women in pain. I could watch a woman be raped all night long.

Am I sick? Probably but it doesn't stop the fact that I like it. I love when women have their hearts stomped on, excluding my friends and family of course there's an emotional connection there, or when something else hurts their feelings. I'm the type of person who when some random a** chick asks me "Am I a horrible person?" I have no response to it because the only thing I can think of saying is "Yes".

So now you know what type of person would play this game. And don't bother saying "you're a horrible person" because we all have something that can be considered as something "horrible".

Edit: Also, would you rather have the people who think about doing this actually go out and rape people, or would it better for them to rape a fictional character?

Ideally I'd want no one to want to rape anyone~

But I guess that's too much to ask from humanity, so I'll go for the game and hope that it's satisfactory enough to play out in the fictional sense.

I honestly don't think this game is gonna have much impact one way or the other in terms of actual rape crimes. But I'd be hypocritical to myself if I weren't at least somewhat against it in principle.

How is this game any worse than games where you can go around and run people over, or shoot innocent people? I have never played more than a few seconds of any of GTA game, so please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there a side-mission in GTA: San Andreas where you get to be a pimp...?

Sexual assault is horrible, but so is murder. : s Maybe my morals are just screwed up, but I don't see how one game is any worse than the other. It's not the rape game is even going to be available to kids, unlike other games which have adult content.

I remember when I was living with my last roommates, one of them had two kids (10 and 4) who lived with their mother. The kids came over one weekend with their new video game that their mom had bought them. Paul (their father) doesn't play video games, so he didn't really look twice at the game and told them to go plug it in, assuming that it was okay, since their mother had gotten it for them.
He and I got talking about something, but all of a sudden we hear all these gunshots, so we go into the living room where the 4 year-old was shooting up some cops and random civilians. Paul freaked out and shut off the game, which prompted the little kid to burst into tears. "But I wanna killlll the peeeople! I have to kill that ********!" @_@

It's not like that game should be banned just because their mother is irresponsible. If anything, banning it would make it that much more of a hot item. =/ Tell people they can't have something, and it suddenly becomes interesting.

Oh god, that's bad. That's why most of the games in my house are somewhat cartoony, with the exception of a few games like Resident Evil 2 and Soul Calibur II. Honestly, I think the worst games I've ever played was Fable and Tales of Symphonia. Shadow the Hedgehog is not to great on the violence either, some of the missions entail destroying all the militia in an area. However, like I said, it's... cartoony.

This is why I liked the Scarface video game XD like GTA but with a little more moral as in the only killable people were people that deserved it. (meaning they openly shot at you)

Ok we have addressed that people may not be induced to do bad things because of video games, but has anyone noticed that when a murderer blames a video game that all the attention gets dragged away from the murderer and suddenly its all the game industries fault? How do we know that rapists won't just use this game as a scape goat and get away with what they do and maybe even make thousands of dollars in suing the game industry for "corrupting their mind" like they have for who knows how many years with violant games. It sounds stupid but I guarentee it will happen. It won't cause the rape but it will aid in the criminals getting away with it.

And once more rapists here about their new scape goat then won't that provoke them to do it? If they can get away with the real thing then who needs a game?

And another thing, it can be used as an outlet sometimes but how do we know it will be effective? most rapists don't do it for the sex they do it for the power over another person and if thats what they want then how do we know they'll get this satisfaction? we don't. so its gambling with a touchy issue and gives rapists more ammo to get away with things.
