Fidelius walked back the the tent he called home as the other elves' shadows flittered through the trees as they took up sanctuary positions around their home. Fid grumbled as his path was blocked by an elf. "Sir, how was the first watch?" The half-elf shook his head and pushed the elf aside. He was too tired. "Sir, I need to tell the council something!"
"Tell them that it was all clear." A lie, but no one would question him otherwise as he was in this mood. He just didn't want to give the female away. there was something about her. She seemed compassionate until the end when she said the females used the men. He knew that. What was with her? She sent the worst mixed signals he had ever seen. At least when someone didn't like him, he knew it.

Maya returned the next night, staying at the very edge of the village. Her cowl was pulled over head, though she seemed very reserved. She was using infrared vision to see, though she was mainly just observing again. Whether she was spotted or not, she didn't care. All she cared about right now was observing.

Fidelius was at his old perch by now. Hiding in the canopy one more time, he knew he wasn't really hidden well. The elven magic to cool his outer temperature wasn't working and he could still feel warmth around him if he waved his hand through the air. Shaking his head, he knew they thought of him as a tool.
His mind drifting back to the drow that he had met earlier, a good days sleep previously left him with a mood where he was kind of excited meeting her again. As the owl hooted warning, he dropped to the ground, knowing that the female knew e was out somewhere. He moved towards her, light and nimble, for a human-elf hybrid.

Her sensitive ears picked up the faint sound of footsteps quickly approaching, her eyes catching a cooler body headed for her. Maya could tell it was an Elf, though if it was same one as the night before or just a different one, she didn't know.
The Drow kept her scimitars sheathed and took a seat on a nearby boulder, her boots not making a single sound as she moved. They had been enchanted that way, so an enemy would be unable to hear her approach. That level of stealth had saved her several times before.
She waited calmly, her arms crossed over her chest as she stared out into the forest, now changing her eyes back to the normal spectrum.

Fidelius, listening for breathing, a heartbeat, anything, stopped near her. for a moment, it looked as if he did not know where she was, but he sniffed the air and turned towards her. "Hello dark elf." His eyes adjusted and could see her hair clearly in the moonlight.
Shaking his head once more that night, he pointed at his nose. "When you hang around with animals, you pick up a few tricks." He remembered her smell from yesterday. Even though he wouldn't admit it, it excited him a bit. Breathing slowly, he kept his heartbeat low.

"Is there something you need, Elf?" Maya asked as she slowly turned her head to him, lowering the cowl of her cloak. She had a bruise on her cheek, though it was hard to see, mainly just being a darker spot of skin. Though she didn't knoe Fidelius's intentions, Maya's posture was relaxed as she sat there, her arms resting easily on her knees as she leaned forward.

Fidelius didn' notice the bruise. If he did, he would worry, no matter the race. She was a she after all. He shrugged at her. "Just here to make sure you don't cause any trouble for the elves. Ya know, it is my job. Actually, I'm supposed to report trespassers and then kill them, but.." He shrugged again, not really knowing why he didn't kill her. She wasn't the first female he fought.

"So are you going to report me?" She asked with a slight grin, seeming amused by the idea. "Better yet, why didn't you report me last night? If you had, you would be trying to kill me now." She observed, cocking her head as her white hair spilled over her shoulders, gleaming in the moonlight.

Fid smiled, showing the drow a near normal set of teeth. They were white and he had all of them, normal enough. The only thing that set him apart were the long canines he had. He moved slowly, circling her and her bolder, studying her. "Well, you intrigue me, to put it bluntly. Your not as violent as the other drow. That confuses me. "

Maya sat where she was, her head only following him when he was in front of her. "Because I do not follow Lolth's cruel practices. Though I was raised to worship her and become a priestess in the family, I do not believe her teachings. I do however, take great joy in slaying my own kind if that comforts you any." The Drow female told him. "That is the only reason I stay in her favor at the moment. That, and the fact that she cannot see what I do on the surface. Here, I am out of her sight." She said with grin.

Fid scowled. "It doesn't." He scowled and stopped in front of her, leaning in close, looking into her eyes. He knew she was telling the truth. Her heartbeat was normal, and she was looking him in the eye. But anyone could be fooled by that. Still, he felt she was honest. Sighing, he backed away. "So why do you return? To the underworld, i mean."

"Because if I don't, the sun will weaken me, and my mother would gladly send my siblings to either retrieve me or kill me, given the situation." She told him simply. Cocking her head once more, she looked at him and smiled a little.
"Why wouldn't it comfort you to know that I am thinning my own people's ranks for you? Most would be happy to hear their enemies are turning on each other." She pointed out.

Scott nodded at the fact. He understood how she felt. Fighting a family of drow without any support is near forfeit. He shook his head at her question though. "The thought of having pleasure for killing anything shows a lack of compassion. It is despicable, even if your killing something that needs to taste steel. Well, anything sentient...Goblins and Orcs don't count."

A laugh escaped Maya's lips as she looked at him. "After what my kin has done to your kind, can you honestly say that we deserve compassion? We gain the favor of Lolth through murder and deceit. If you think I just run around stabbing Drow though, you'd be wrong. I wait to kill until someone is trying to kill me, or my family declares war against another family. I at least haven't killed any of my siblings, though most deserve it. Hell, the last sibling that was born was only conceived as a sacrifice. And the moment after it was born, my mother and sister gladly ended its life. Drow do not show compassion. Not even for infants." She said with a grim smile as she thought on it now.
