{Sorry for the delayed post. sweatdrop }
"Very well." Cossette promptly ventured towards her chambers, as she said she would. She got every bit of broodiness and fear she had out whenever she was alone, since there was never an appropriate time to show weakness to another. (Especially not her husband!) It was difficult, always playing herself out to be confident and in control of whatever she might face. In her eyes, though, she felt it for the best. She had no real friends, only enemies with friendly faces. Brooding about such facts never did any good, did it? Cossette pushed such things from her mind as soon as she could, now attempting to focus on who she might invite to the party. Perhaps she would invite some of the less talented members of the Order. Or maybe she could do some research and dig out a few vengeful ladies from Vladmir's past?

Vlad worked on his list, invitations and specifications for about an hour before handing them to the butler. Afterwards, he made his way into the vast library holding over three floors worth of books and a lavish atmosphere, complete with a large crystal chandelier, candelabras and couch sets of satin and intricate lace. Here, he would spend his night, reading unless disturbed with other matters.

{Yes, let's timeskip. Prefferably to the weekend. Shopping could be fun, but it's more fun to do the aftermath versus the money-spending itself.}

The grand hall of the Moldovan residence was readied for a masquerade ball. The heavy draperies were midnight blue with silvery white tassels. Large vases were all around, with white roses and several types of blue flowers accenting them. The moon was full and the evening breeze was cool. It was a perfect time for a party. Visitors were ushered in by the estate's servants. They were expected to come in 'creative tie' attires and masks instead of the usual black or white tie dress code, so innovative designs were welcome although some traditions on formal wear still applied. Of course, some unwanted faces were behind some of those masks but it was not like anyone should know - especially not Mrs. Moldovan. Vlad met his wife behind the curtains and out of sight, saying, "Wow. You look stunning." He fixed his white gloves. The mask he wore that covered the upper half of his face was white with a few silver patterns curling at either side with but a few black feathers at one side for decoration. It looked elegant and simple, as was its master's style. After all, the intention was not to attract the most attention but to charm more women and to feast the most.

{It clearly shows. :3 That's a habit I seriously need to develop. XD
Sorry for the delayed response, btw; I was having a little trouble coming up with exactly how I wanted her to look. I didn't want to cop out and just use photobucket pictures, so...yeah. sweatdrop }
Cossette, herself, wore something a little more elaborate. Her mask was golden with numerous intricate carvings, shaped to look like many intertwining rose vines. The 'rose petals' on the flower carvings were tiny, carefully shaped shards of rubies. As one can imagine, she would not dare wear such a thing without extreme consideration for the rest of her attire. Her gown was made from the finest red silks that money could buy, with black ruffles across the bottom of the skirt. Her low neckline and sleeves were deccorated in fanciful black lace. Intentionally, Cossette wore her hair up in a neat bun, held up by white roses and their carefully braided stems. (This, of course, had been done as a subtle attempt at teasing Vladmir, exposing her neck so and all.) Her intention in wearing such clothing, clearly, was to flaunt her physical charm, perhaps even impress any men that might be attending. After hearing her husband's words, she could not help but muster up a proud smirk from beneath her mask. "That's something I never expected to hear from you." she replied, the tone of her voice making it quite clear that she was pleased to hear such words, even if she somehow doubted the sincerity of them coming from Vlad's lips.

Vlad immediately answered, "With the price of that gown and all, you better look stunning" It was almost a condemning tune implying that if Cossette was going to spend so much money, she better put it to good use. A large grin appeared on the only half of Vlad's face that was visible. Expressions of the eyes and lips were his assets. He could easily get his message across and entice women into becoming willing victims with just either of those. It was his natural talent. He began to answer, that grin still plastered to his face, "Besides, you know that white roses are my signature. It is like announcing to everyone that you indeed belong to me. And no man shall touch you because they know whose house they are in. Very convenient"
((OOC: Alot of restrictions in dress but I'm a "Screw it. Go for the gold!" kind of person - which is apparently a no-no in true formal wear. Also, guys can wear hats at a public ball but NOT in a private one so Aww! I was already imagining the translucent black and white ribbons on his top hat with a lot of white roses on the side X3 Pictures? I use them for reference of things I wanna describe :3 And yeah, understandable. It's harder to dress a woman than a man~))

{True. XD I'm also sorry for the lack of quality in my posts, as of late.}
"If a man wants something badly enough, he'll take it." Cossette spoke with a simple shrug, no doubt speaking from past experiences. After all, it was highly unlikely that she had only been with unmarried men or those wedded to herself. It was even less likely that she had been faithful in most of her past 'relationships'. It was also highly unlikely that she had not been with her fair share of bold, greedy bastards. (After all, like attracts like.) Cossette was sure enough that she would garner at least enough attention to make her point, even if none of the men invited acted upon their desires - or their hatred.

Vlad nodded and replied to her, "True, true. But I'm sure they've heard the rumors... Of what happens to people who steal from me" The rumor that went around was that those who stole from the vampire baron are never heard of again. Of course, it only ever happened once but that kind of reputation was quite convenient, knowing Vlad disliked being bothered. That said, he turned away from his wife and said, "Have fun" and began walking away, where he was still shielded from view by the curtains.
((OOC: Tis fine. Saving it for the juicy parts? XD ))

{Sort of. XD I'm terribly sorry about my lack of posting, too. It must be driving you insane, and again, I'm sorry.}
Cossette raised an eyebrow at Vlad's words after he turned and walked off. Truly, she did not know how to take his words. Some sick, demented token of his affection? A cold delcaration of 'I never share my toys, no matter how much I hate them'? Not that she could claim any different, with how she behaved towards him in turn. Hell, once she would find out about who exactly her husband was so bold as to invite, she was certain to make her own attempts on his life several times over. (As was the norm in their household. Should children ever be born of their union, I cannot even begin to fathom how terrible their spawn would turn out to be!) Nevertheless, she had better things to do than let her mind linger on such an unpleasant man. Like taking her place and preparing her tactics for garnering positive attention, for example.

Vlad didn't bother to look back and watch how his wife would make her grand entrance. He, himself, felt busy with more important matters. Of course, tonight meant pleasure, and lots of it. However, there was the matter of disguising himself so people, especially not his wife, would recognize him despite the fact that he knew for certain how Cossette was dressed. As he turned the corner, still hidden from view, a servant approached him, offering a blond wig and a brightly-colored intricate mask decorated at the sides with extravagant blue feathers of an exotic breed. He wore them both, ensuring that he would be unrecognizable in the crowd of men, mostly wearing the same black formal garments as he. "The decoy. Is he ready?" He asked the servant who answered in the affirmative. Just to make sure, Vlad invited a stable boy who always talks of wooing noblewomen to the private ball. It was almost a perfect match. He had black hair and was just a little shorter than Vlad but that wasn't easy to notice. He was allowed to come to the ball for the chance to follow his dreams on the condition that he wear the same white mask Vlad had worn when he appeared in front of his wife. Unknown to the boy, he just traded for a few cuts and bruises. "Everything is according to plan" Vlad grinned before walking to the main hall from a side servant entrance that was generally unnoticeable. Now was the time to lure women to him and suck the most blood he can get... Maybe even seduce the lovely host of this masquerade ball only to reveal himself as none other than her own husband later on. That sounded devious and interesting for him so for the night, he adapted a bit of a French accent which was no trouble at all, having studied the language in his afterlife.
((OOC: That's alright. You post consistently. Some others I RP onexone with post once a week... or once a month XD))

{I've returned from my absense! I'm terribly sorry for taking so long, but I've only just now obtained access for this computer.}
Cossette entered subtly, deciding that it was more fun to see what amount of attention would be drawn due to her looks and charm versus any bold action or lengthy speach on her part. If none were brave enough to approach her, then perhaps a few assassinations were in order. Or perhaps she should simply wear something a little more revealing next time? Nevertheless, she was quick to begin mingeling with the guests, wanting to get a feel for those that currently surrounded her. Before too much time had passed, her heart began to beat faster as the sound of some familiar voices began dancing around her eardrums in a frenzy. Familiar anything was not a pleasant thought. Hadn't she come here to escape? For the moment being, she could not quite identify who exactly these voices belonged to or why. Perhaps, for now, this was for the best.
{Let me know if I should edit anything at all. I'm posting this late at night and I haven't posted in about a month so...yeah. >.<}

Vlad had already been dancing and talking with several women, as well as taking short meals. Now, he had a harem of beautifully-dressed young women, married or not, gathered around him in one corner of the ballroom where the ladies waiting to be asked for a dance also waited. Some occupied the seats beside him, one lucky blonde was sitting on his lap and the rest sat on the floor beside him while some were standing and listening to him from behind. He carefully attended to each with sweet words, occasional gentle touches and calling each by name. The masquerade had only begun but he had now gathered about a dozen willing victims. The other men were a little more subtle in their advances as the side lounges around the ballroom, separated only by arches covered by drapery weren't being used at the moment. "Sweet Dahlia. How is it that you have come to this ball without a chaperon? You must be lonely. Let me keep you company, in the company of fine young women" He glanced up to look at Cosette through the crowds in that elaborate outfit. She seemed to be garnering attentions herself.
((OOC:yayz!! She's back!! I'm so gonna glomp you!! ... HAARD!! >w> And yush, young single women are often accompanied by older women or chaperons when attending parties))

{OMG I missed Gaia soooo much! Real life is surprisingly fun free. crying }
Cossette was quite easilly able to spot the subtle advances of those that flirted with her. Some men were just too scared of outright ridicule, scandal, or even rejection to speak their interest outright. It was fun for Cossette to flirt with and tease those that approached her, sometimes even boldly so. She was certain she made no secret of how little she valued Vladmir's input in regards to her actions, and that she had little to no respect for his 'claim' on her. Just because they needed each other didn't mean that they had to always be civil towards one another, right?
