Amaya smiled, happy to hear that one of her ideas was what Gale was looking for. She helped him with the magic, still feeling exhausted from their journey and the energy she had to use to use her magic, but she followed her master obediently. "Did the college give us a place to meet Lady Twilight and Rona besides just the village? Or are we searching for them once we get in?" She asked, staying close behind Gale.

Gale stretched his arms out above his head, looking around the town as they circled it to find a path. "Well, we would search for them if we couldn't guess where they'd be. With the heat of the day, and our own exhaustion as a factor, I'd suggest we start and end our search at the Tavern." He focused on the building he'd mentioned, seeing a few villagers milling around out front of it bantering and the cool shade of the porch railings. He wasn't as tired as Amaya, journeying had always been his specialty, but he knew when and how to end his walks. A cool drink was the prescription, and Twilight was bound to be there. If history repeated itself.
Entering the tavern with Amaya short behind him, he knew his ideas were right on the mark. Not only was it cooler inside but now there were two pairs of magic more in the building, making a set of four. "Twilight Abyss! Rona! Somehow I knew I'd find you in here. Probably already hot on the case and leaving little old us in the dust." Gale swept his arms out to the side in greeting as he neared their table, smiling at the sight. "We didn't cause you impatience, did we?" Somehow, it didn't seem like he would mind causing anyone any such thing.

Smiling as she saw Gale walk in and greet her and Rona, Twilight rose from her seat and grabbed her staff, walking over to Gale and giving him a brief hug. The gem in her staff flashed, though she smiled and shook her head and motioned for him and Amaya to sit. "Not at all. We just finished our investigation with what the villagers gave us and were waiting for you. You're more than welcome to review our findings." She told him. "I'm glad the college sent you and not some other sorcerer. I was beginning to worry I might be left doing all the work." She said with a light smile as she took her seat once more.
Amaya smiled and waved to Rona, happy to see her fellow apprentice. While she enjoyed Gale's company, she also enjoyed being with other apprentices. It was nice to see her friends from the college and nice to hear about their journeys. Once Twilight motioned for them to sit, Amaya gladly did so, sighing slightly out of exhaustion as she finally relaxed. She was used to traveling with Gale, but he was older and had much more stamina at this point than she did. It was something that every sorcerer needed to work towards in order to become a powerful sorcerer, and she knew she still had a while to go before she was even close to Gale's strength.

"Long trip?" Rona asked Amaya with a smile as she watched her colleague sit down beside her. As she did, she moved her own plain wooden staff that had been resting against the wall behind her as someone came out with a small cup of tea that she'd asked for earlier. "I was hoping you and Master Gale would be the ones to come." she said sweetly, glad to see her favorite study buddy again.

Gale, as he sat down, motioned for some drinks. While he payed, he spoke. "Your sentiment is lovely, Twilight. It matches my own." As the drinks were delivered, the only man at the table took a moment to become comfortable as he apprentice had, shuffling around some and placing his mace onto the floor, where he leaned it against his leg. His final gesture was to lean forward onto the table, one arm free to hold his cup or make gestures and the other used to hold up his face.
"Do let us know what you've found out already and then we'll do some catching up. There's no fun in working through the hottest part of the day; we'll exhaust ourselves." He gave a wink.

"Extremely long." Amaya sighed with a tired smile. She wanted to talk to Rona, but it would have to wait until the two masters had discussed the matter at hand, then there would be time for catching up.
"Gladly." Twilight said before taking a sip from her drink. She set it down and leaned back in her chair now, looking to Gale. "In the last month, eleven villagers have been brutally murdered. How the bodies were found, there's little description, where they were found, all I've been giving is general areas of the village, and only some names of victims." She sighed.
Leaning forward now, she lowered her voice a bit to keep eavesdroppers from hearing. "Honestly I think these people are hiding something. I don't like how vague the information about this entire matter has been, and the air over this place is think. We should be wary until we can figure out what we're dealing with here."

Gale nodded at Twilight's warnings and then took a drink from his cup. The whole thing was suspicious then, and without much information they'd have to snoop quite a bit. Right up his alley, as long as it didn't take too long.
He winked at Amaya as he pulled the list of names and vague locations that they had closer to him, giving her permission to go on and talk to Rona about the trip and what they'd been doing. The young girls were probably brimming with stories, and Twilight could recount her half as well now that business was out of the way, but he always had to put his word in where he could. "Ran into Falcon Ike on the way here, you remember him Twilight? That batty old man who lives with all those predatory birds that gave the college a scare that time they were possessed? He's as batty as ever, tried to feed us mice as we were leaving." He let his eyes scan over the locations on the paper, the corner of his mouth turning into a frown when he realized just how vague she'd meant. "More sane than these answers though..."

Giving Rona a nod that she could go on and talk to her friend, Twilight turned her attention back to Gale. "Why were you visiting? Was he causing trouble again?" She asked as she cocked her head, her raven hair spilling over her shoulder as she looked at him with an amused smile.
"At least he isn't smitten with you." She laughed, though she shook her head. "He believes that I'm the same age as him so he believes we are made for each other." The woman sighed. She was actually much older than Falcon Ike, and older than Gale at this point as well. She was one of the first graduating classes, so she knew at this point what she was doing, though there were jobs, like this one, that still required the assistance of another master sorcerer.
"So what kind of things have you and your master been up to?" Amaya asked Rona with a smile as she took a sip from her drink. "Fighting monsters? Dealing with crazy people? I haven't seen you in almost a year." She said as she got a little more comfortable now.

"Just passing by, we were around that area when we got called in." That would be no surprise. Gale was notorious for traveling far and wide. There was barely anywhere he hadn't been at least once.
He laughed at Twilight's tale, then leaned toward her like a conspirator, eyes on their apprentices. "So, how's she shaping up?" He felt his mace begin to fall away from his leg, and he caught it gently before it could crack the wood floor. "It's been a year or so since you started traveling with her." He moved his hand rhythmically and felt his mace shrink to a more comfortable size. He placed it on his lap, out of the way.

"Well a year of non-stop travel, yes. You forget the routine missions we were constantly thrown into with them as a teaching tool." Twilight sighed. "Rona has done well. Her skill has improved greatly over the last few months alone. She's got another year before she'll go off on her own, but I don't think I'll have to worry when she reaches the title of Master sorcerer. She's proven herself in many difficult situations." She said softly as she glanced to her apprentice.
"And what about your own apprentice? She seems quiet. Afraid to move or breathe unless you tell her she can." Twilight said, merely gathering what she had observed from their previous meetings.

Gale smiled, glancing at Amaya. "Nah, she's just getting over the road. We've been working on her stamina as of late, so I've been testing her every few hours. She's much more likely to think on her own than listen to me if I'm wrong now a days. It's a good quality. She only acts so good around other sorcerers." He had been glad when she got over listening to his every word. He couldn't stand hero worship, it kept you down. Now, with Amaya already seventeen and having watched her so closely as she grew, longer than most Masters did, he was worried he was the one getting attached.
"I'll have no worries when I let her go, besides my own heart breaking. As usual." Amaya wasn't his first apprentice, his third to be exact, but she was his favorite by far. He couldn't help it, she'd grown up with him by her side. Not constantly, but he was there.

"I can understand that. Historically we all know how well I dealt with the death of my master, and I was his second apprentice." Twilight muttered. The college thought Twilight was dead for a few years before she returned to get an apprentice. Everyone thought she went crazy and killed herself or something. She did go crazy, then came back to a semi-normal level of sanity and returned to the college with all her new red markings, which she still had not fully explained.
Thought Gale knew she wasn't saying that he or his apprentice would die, Twilight was merely drawing a connection that it was difficult to see people in your life that long just leave suddenly one day. She'd had one other apprentice at this point and it was a sad day when it was time for them to leave. She still hadn't seen her former apprentice since that day, and she hadn't heard a single thing about them. Twilight took an apprentice much later than most, especially later when compared to Gale, but it was a sore subject for her.
"She seems to adore you as much as I adored my own master though. And she didn't have parents when you found her. So maybe you'll see her again after it's time for her to leave." Twilight suggested, trying to ease Gale's troubles.

"I wish!" Rona said with a small laugh. "It's mostly been investigations like these, though nothing quite so drastic as the current one." she said before taking a sip from her cup. "Punctuated with my own studies and training of course. Although I certainly wouldn't mind a touch of adventure every now and again."

"So maybe you will get some excitement this time." Amaya said with a smile. "Certainly sounds like an interesting case anyway. Besides, we're not supposed to have crazy missions just yet. Not this last year anyway. Now that we're a year off, it's supposed to get harder. Gale and I have been working on my stamina lately, and that's been brutal in itself. What about you? You've got one of the oldest masters that's still taking apprentices, surely she's working you hard?" She asked as she took another sip.

"I suppose you could say that, yes." Rona closed her eyes as she held her cup in both hands. "Mistress Twilight's methods can be....rather odd at times, but I know she only has my best interests at heart. Sometimes she's like a second mother to me." she said before taking another sip. "Mind you, she's hardly soft when it comes to my studies and training."
