spaceLes watched with faint amusement as the child played with his trucks, somewhat thankful that the shoes he'd worn today were one of his older pairs when Chance rolled one of them over the top of one. But, he wasn't prepared for the toddler to answer his question by climbing up into his lap. His eyes went wide and he tensed up, feeling exceedingly awkward. Still, he managed a small chuckle and a nod when Chance answered his question with the most literal response imaginable. Of course, he shouldn't have expected any different; a two year old could hardly be expected to know what the question 'what's up' meant. He supposed it'd been rather dumb to ask, really. But it wasn't as though he had a clue what he was doing.

spaceChance's question had him blinking. Well, that... he wasn't sure how to answer that. It wasn't like the kid would understand the real reason, after all. Besides, he didn't really fancy informing the child that he had a girl's name, because wouldn't it be nice to have someone in his life grow up not thinking that? He pursed his lips, expression thoughtful, a finger tapping his chin. "Well, does your dad spend a lot of time telling you to eat your vegetables? Because I'd listen to him," he said, ruffling the kid's hair a bit. "I didn't listen to my mum when she told me. And now I'm bald." There, that was a good response, right? He was pretty sure that parents used the 'eat your vegetables' answer for all manner of questions that children asked... it was certainly prevalent enough in pop culture. He suppressed a wince; sitcoms were probably not the best medium to learn how to raise a kid from. But, he wasn't raising one... he was just watching him. For a few minutes. Yeah, this would be fine... right?

spaceHe shifted a bit, trying to get more comfortable with the child in his lap, and cleared his throat. "So, uh... do you like living with your dad?" he asked, thinking that he did not know how to talk to such a young child. He was pretty sure that was a question for someone who was old enough to form proper sentences. Then again, it could be interpreted as a simple yes or no question, which was only one word. Then again, he might've just upset the kid by bringing up the fact that he no longer lived with his mum... s**t. He swore, if Chance started crying... ugh, Chalmes was going to kill him.

He didn't know that/ He clapped his hands to his hair in shock, his mouth hanging open. No! He liked his hair. It was fuzzy and warm. He then glared as much as he could at Les, his mouth settling into a pout. Les should have listened to his mum then. "Lissen to mummy." Chance scolded the older man, wagging his finger at Les before settling back down. His face then looked thoughtful, his eyebrows scrunching up as he tried to figure out what Les meant. His eyebrows then shot up as he realized what he meant. "Da nice. Udder da nice too. Kiss has babies. Da makes pizza to eat." Chance sat up proudly as he figured he had answered Les's question right. He was smart. His mummy said he wasn't sometimes, but he was! Deciding he liked it in Les's lap, he started playing with the guy's watch, interested to see what it did.

spaceLes could not believe he was actually being scolded by a toddler. It as actually kind of adorable, although being told he should listen to his mum made his heart pang. If only, he thought sadly. He'd much prefer having her to listen to than his father. But, now wasn't the time to start brooding about his dead mother... there was a distinct lack of alcohol in his presence, and a surplus of children.

spaceHe was almost embarrassed by how long it took him to figure out what Chance was talking about when he answered his question. A long moment passed, while he let Chance fiddle with his watch (how much damage could a two year old do?) as he tried to sort it out. Once he got it, he wanted to slap himself. Other dad. Chris and Chalmes were identical (or so they claimed). Of course a kid Chance's age would have trouble differentiating between dad and uncle when they looked almost exactly the same. "Hm, do you get to spend much time with Chris and the babies?" he asked, curious. From what he could tell, Chris didn't see much of anyone. He kept weird hours that seemed specifically designed to mean he never had time for a social life. Ada had said that it was so that one of them was always awake with the kids, with the exception of the time she was at work, when they had a babysitter, usually one of her parents. He wondered if perhaps Chalmes was also on the roster for babysitting, but given how much trouble the guy had with his own kid, Les had a hard time seeing him taking care of a toddler and two infants all at once.

Chance nodded, his eyes meeting Les's. Kiss was pretty cool, to be honest. Even if he did take longer naps than he did. He was pretty sure the last time Ada watched him, she had been slightly amused by his attempts to wake up his other da. She had finally given in and took Chance out, but he could have sworn something wasn't right when Kiss didn't even move, or even breathe. He was also cold, but Chance figured that he needed more blankets and piled them on top of the older male. When Kiss did finally wake up, Chance had proudly listened as Kiss told Ada he didn't remember going to sleep with that many blankets on top of him. Chance thought it was funny. "Kiss take long naps. Not like me. He also cold. Drinks funny red stuff too. Babies are wrinkly." Chance wrinkled his own face, pretty sure that he had never been that wrinkly. Then again, they weren't so wrinkly now. He bounced a bit, thinking that Les was at least interesting to talk to. Seemed nice enough, anyway.

spaceLes watched the child's expression curiously. It wasn't often he spent time with people he could read so easily, after all. Most the people he dealt with on a day to day basis made it their business to ensure no one knew what they were thinking. Even Chalmes and Chris tended to make an effort to keep their thoughts hidden. Hell, Ada did, too, although she was absolute rubbish at it. Being around someone who wasn't going to lie to him or be evasive was actually sort of nice, even if it was a toddler. Still, he was caught off-guard by the child's description of his uncle. When he mentioned his being cold and drinking 'red stuff', it finally clicked into place. Well, that was a fairly large puzzle piece, after all. Red stuff indeed, he thought, suppressing a snort, eyes going wide, jaw tightening. The weird hours. The evasiveness. The reason he seemed to barely pick at his plate whenever they went out to eat (indeed, Ada always seemed to eat half of whatever he ordered)... Chris was a damned vampire! There was no question in the Slytherin's mind. It explained everything. All the weird comments about a biting phase that Chalmes had made concerning the twins made perfect sense now... of course he'd worry about them biting him, they were half-vampire! They would probably grow little baby fangs or something! Because there was absolutely no doubt that Chris was their biological father; Ada might've hovered the whole time, but she'd finally started letting him hold the twins... both of them looked just like Chris. The only alternative would've been Chalmes being the father, which was laughable. And no bloody wonder Chalmes looked five or so years older, because Chris wasn't bloody aging!

spaceThe amount of clarity he had suddenly concerning all his interactions with Chris was honestly mind-boggling. Still, he realized he'd been sitting there completely silent while he processed all of this, which wasn't particularly good, since he still had Chance in his lap, and was either boring him with his silence or freaking him out with the no doubt thoroughly shocked expression on his face. He offered the kid a smile, shrugging. "I'm sure the twins will be more fun when they're old enough to actually play with," he said, figuring that the fact that Chance had nothing to say other than that they were 'wrinkly' was probably because, quite frankly, babies weren't all that interesting if you weren't at an age to think they were adorable just because they were babies. Although, the face he'd made to illustrate had been pretty damn adorable, too.

spaceNormally, Les didn't Apparate directly into his friend's flat; it was rude even under normal circumstances, and Chalmes' dislike of magic only made it more so. So, most of the time when he went to visit the squib, he apparated into a nearby alley (he had yet to be seen, thankfully), walked the rest of the way, and knocked on the door, like a normal human being. Or, a normal muggle. Today, though, was not a typical day, and Les did not have the patience to deal with it if on his way up, the elderly woman down the hall wanted to try and have a chat (and she absolutely always wanted to have a chat). He didn't know what it was with that woman, if she was just lonely or what, but he didn't particularly feel like talking to her today. Maybe in a week, once he'd calmed down somewhat over the absolute ******** he'd found himself in, he might be willing to answer her 'how're things?' with a grimace and a 'You don't want to know'. But today, if she asked... well, he might just tell her.

spacePiss-poor mood that he was in, he wasn't quite thinking straight, and broke the social taboo by apparating directly into Chalmes' living room. As soon as he appeared, he realized that might've been a dumb move; the guy might have company of the non-magical variety, after all. Les could take care of that if it happened, but he had a feeling Chalmes wouldn't appreciate it. Might actually be furious with him, in fact, and at present he sort of needed some sympathy, so it would probably be best not to piss the guy off. It was relatively early in the evening, but not so early that he'd been worried about Chance still being up... Though, the noise might've woken the kid up. s**t. He hoped not. He didn't want to screw that up and have Chalmes have to go through the hassle of getting the kid back to bed. More to the point, it wasn't as though he could discuss what was wrong with Chance up; it was definitely not a conversation for young ears. Especially not when young ears were attached to a young mouth that could repeat things that were heard and not understood.

spaceFuuuuuuuck, he was so ********, he thought, pinching the bridge of his nose and squeezing his eyes shut. He could feel a migraine setting in. "Chalmes, if you will forgive me the breach in etiquette, I'd be very grateful," he said. Honestly, if his friend were inclined to overlook the behavior out of pity for the predicament Les had landed himself in, the formal way he'd spoken should be more than enough to let Chalmes know just how bad it was. He hadn't wasted any time after leaving from his 'meeting,' had come straight here. His brain hadn't quite switched to '******** it' mode just yet. Though, the moment the switch happened, the floodgates would open, and he'd have to magically muffle the living room just to keep from waking up Chance or disturbing the neighbors. He didn't even make a move to sit, just stood, shoulder stiff, jaw clenched, teeth grinding. ********, he needed something to drink. Maybe he should've gone to Tassy's... except that Tassy would probably find this completely and utterly hilarious. Chalmes, at least, would probably sympathize. He had been in a similar situation, not so long ago. Yeah, Chalmes was probably a better person to talk to right now. Maybe the younger man would have some actually helpful advice. God knows he didn't have anyone else to ask, he thought bitterly.

However, his peace was soon disrupted when he heard a loud crack. He started, not used to having people apparating around him after years of being away from the rest of his magical family. Sloshing beer on himself, he swore heavily and looked up. Then blinked. What the hell? Normally Les just walked up. Why the heck did his best mate have to apparate in? He stood, glancing back toward Chance's room before turning toward Les. "Breach in etiquette. Right. Sure. Not like I can stop people from appartating into my apartment, after all." He walked over to his kitchen to grab a towel to dry himself off with and then turned toward Les, the towel in hand as he looked Les over. Okay, he looked ruffled, seemed to be pinching his nose in what he called Chris's warning signs he was getting a headache, and the guy wasn't even sitting.

Sighing, he gestured to the couch, his own blue eyes narrowing. "Okay, sit. Now. And explain why the heck you bloody had to appartate into my apartment to begin with. Cause seriously? You look like you need a bloody drink. And no, not the same kind of bloody drink that Chris needs. I have beer, scotch, and whiskey here. Take your pick." Chalmes didn't even give Les a chance to respond as he grabbed out a glass along with the two liquors he knew Les might actually drink. No, he didn't keep burbon or anything like that at home, but he usually avoided heavy drinking at home if he could help it. Right now, however, Les looked like he needed it.

spaceLes scowled at Chalmes' comment, not bothering to adjust his position or look at the younger man. "You could always as me to ward it," he reminded the squib, though at the moment, he was rather glad it didn't have any anti-apparition wards up. It would've been doubly frustrating to smack into a brick wall, so to speak, when trying to enter the flat. He was pretty sure that, had that happened, he'd be attempting to put his fist through a wall right now. Actually, it was pretty surprising he wasn't doing that anyway. He heard Chalmes moving, and opened his eyes, dropping his hand to watch his friend walk towards the kitchen. The muggleborn swore under his breath when he realized that Chalmes was wet... presumably because he'd spilled his drink because Les had shocked the hell out of him by suddenly appearing in his living room. <********, mate, sorry," he said, hand going to his forehead this time and sliding back over his head.

spaceNumbly, he followed Chalmes' directive to sit down, elbows resting on his knees and head in his hands. "'Need a drink' is an understatement, Chalmes," he said bitterly, looking up at the dark-haired male. "... Scotch, please," he responded finally, leaning back on the couch and letting his head fall back, staring up at the ceiling. "I am so, so ********, Chalmes... seems like you're not the only one who unexpectedly became a father."

spaceLes swallowed, growing paler. Some of his rage was fading now, and instead his aggravation and fear was settling in. "She set me up. She had to've. The whole thing is way to convenient, it stinks of a set-up. I don't know how she did it, but she did. Asked me to come over after I got out of the office because she needed to talk to me... Tells me she's pregnant. And then oh, so sweetly adds that she'd like for the wedding to happen before she starts to show, if that's okay with me, she's already got some of it planned. She's... she has to've just now been able to confirm. No ******** way has she had time to do any of that shite. Besides, it was... practiced. And she was just so damn pleased with herself." The more Les thought about it, the less he liked this entire scenario. Francesca had spoken to him like she was reciting lines, and she had been so happy... Everyone knew the woman had been desperately trying to find a husband the last five or so years. She'd set him up, he was sure of it. Of course, even if she'd planned this, it wasn't entirely her fault... he'd been stupid enough to sleep with her.

Chalmes poured a glass of scotch before he walked over with both bottles and another glass of his own. His liver would forgive him, right? It wasn't like he drank as heavily as he used to. Handing the glass of scotch to Les, he poured himself a measure of whiskey and set both bottles down, figuring if Les needed it, he could get some more. He then settled back and listened to Les's account. It started off confusing to him, but as his friend talked, he couldn't help but blink, and then take a drink of his whiskey. Les wasn't suggesting what he thought he was, was he? "Wait a minute. Do you mean to tell me that some woman is chasing you down for a marriage? And you... You got her pregnant? What, did she poke holes in your rubbers or something? Bloody hell, I mean, what the hell kind of person does that kind of thing?" He'd heard of that, of course. He was the son of a pureblood wizard, and Gearvin had warned him about that sort of thing when he was younger and Gearvin hadn't given up on trying to get some witch for him to marry. Mostly because of the possibility of the girl's family going after the estate with any child of his. He supposed Chance had a chance to inherit, but that was a far-off possibility.

He took a stronger pull at his drink and winced. Yeah, Les definitely needed to vent. "So muggles have that sort of thing happen too. I thought it was only pureblood wizarding families that worried about muggleborns and halfbloods that might 'taint the bloodline' or ambitious witches that tried to get a family's estate. Nice to see that isn't any different." Chalmes made a face at the idea. This is why he didn't even try looking at witches when he was younger. He didn't want to be pulled into messes like this. No matter how remote the possibility, even though his father and him had been disinherited, there was still the chance that had he gotten with a pureblood witch that just so happened to like to work things, she could have made stealing the family fortune a possibility.

spaceLes almost laughed at Chalmes' reaction, mostly because it so perfectly encapsulated exactly how he felt at this moment. How he'd felt for the last couple of hours, if he were perfectly honest, but of course he'd not been able to act on it until now. Had to keep up that cool exterior, couldn't let the woman see his weakness, the panic just beneath the surface. "S'basically it. S'not uncommon, really. Not in the circles like my dad's. Pretty girls, born into rich families, think they deserve to marry a man richer than their daddies and never have to life a finger. But this one, Francesca, no takers. Her mother, she's a horrid old t**t if I ever saw one, she chased most of the men off when she was younger. Said they weren't good enough or some bollocks. And the ones who were, they didn't want anything to do with the b***h, because she's almost as much of a t**t as her mum." The Slytherin took the drink Chalmes had offered, and downed it, not even bothering to try and pace himself. He winced lightly at the burn, leaning forward and pinching his brow again. "Apparently, she's gotten desperate. She's gotta be... she's younger than I am, but not by much. Told me that she knew I was respectable, I'd 'do the right thing by her.' Thought I'd traveled back in time to the damned Victorian era or something. And she was sooooo damned sweet about it, acted like she was going to cry for a second there when she told me. 'I know you didn't expect this, I don't know how it happened.'" He snorted leaning back and rolling his eyes. "My arse, she doesn't know. She has to. Said she was on the pill, and you know damn well I didn't go at it without a rubber. Wouldn't have slept with the b***h at all if I'd recognized her, but I was just drunk enough, and she shouldn't have been there. Never see that crowd in that part of town, they'd never lower themselves to it, s'why I like the pub in the first place. And I haven't seen her in ages, pretty sure she's had a nose job." 'Pretty sure' was him being generous; he was sure of it. The woman he recalled from previous functions, she'd been pretty enough... except her nose, which had been rather unfortunately hooked, and a bit too large for the rest of her face. The woman he'd slept with a month ago, the woman he'd met with tonight, her nose had been petite, pert. Cute, even. And definitely fake.

spaceThe Slytherin frowned. Frustrated as he was, his brain was moving slower than usual, but it was still moving, fitting pieces together. She had to've lied about being on the pill. Had to've sabotaged the condom somehow. Everything about this was too perfect. He had no idea how she'd gotten lucky enough that it'd bloody worked, but it had to've been planned out. "I wasn't thinking straight, of course. Was barely managing to keep my cool over the bloody thing. So I just flat out told her no, I wasn't going to ruddy marry her. Said that I'd do what I could to help her raise the kid, financially or whatever, but that I wasn't about to end up in some forced marriage because of a damned accident. She got pissed; whole demeanor changed, starts screaming like a damned harpy about how clearly this baby was 'fate' because of the circumstances and it was bullshite that I wouldn't stand by her. Tried to keep my cool, but she was pushing it, you know? And I told her she was lucky I was offering to help at all, since it wasn't like she needed the money, and the kid'd be better off without me for a dad, anyway. She just kept railing at me about how she was going to make me do the right thing, she'd make me do it. I swear I almost pulled my wand and hexed her mouth shut. But, couldn't do that, obviously, damned muggle, I'd have been in so much damned trouble. So I flipped her off and told her to call my lawyer... which was the dumbest ******** thing I've ever ******** said." He stopped then, huffing indignantly. "Mate, I am so royally ********. I don't even know what the hell I'm supposed to do now. Already put in a call to my lawyer about the whole mess, he's supposed to mediate a paternity test. Oh, and I don't even want to think of what hell I'm going to catch from my father over this. His mouth, I might actually hex shut. Maybe permanently. It'd certainly make my life easier," he finished, burying his face in his hands. He didn't think he had ever said so much in one sitting, not even with Chalmes, and certainly not sober. He was going to need more scotch... a lot more scotch. Enough that he might have to crash on the guy's couch, because he'd probably be in no shape to apparate home. Or he'd have to call someone who could get him home, since it'd be pretty shitty of him to wake up hungover on Chalmes' couch with Chance in the flat. Who the ******** could even take him home? All his friends were squibs, he thought, barely containing a bitter chuckle. Hm, he supposed he and Adalaide hadn't had a decent argument in a while, maybe they were due. At least she could be trusted to take some sympathy on his drunken, miserable state and get him home safe.

Chalmes winced as he heard the description. Yep, he'd heard of the same kind of girls. He was glad that most women tended to hear the word squib in the wizarding community and run in the other direction. He took another swig of whiskey, listening as Les described the girl in question. Oh, that sounded like a piece of work. And apparently loved being manipulative. "Should introduce her to Tria then. I have a feeling my sister would love to take someone like that down a dozen pegs just for laughs." He didn't doubt that Eretria would do that either. Recalling she stripped the hide off of a grown man at eleven, he shuddered to think how much worse his sister's tongue got over the years. He doubted it softened, in any case.

Chalmes however listened to the rest of Les's tale, snorting as the guy apparently had been told he was supposed to marry the girl. That right there was what made him at once glad that Chance's mum hadn't stuck around to collect for the two years she had him, and didn't even have a clue he was part of a much bigger community than he let on. He was sure that she would have pressed for child support and then Chance would be in a much worse position than the kid was currently. Listening to the last part of the story, Chalmes sighed. "And those are the kind of girls that are exactly the reason why the ******** guys like us either prefer to be single, or decide to go outside of their own social circles to look for love. I swear, every bloody one if them is always after some bloody fool that they can twist around to make work for them, and all of them make the rest of the women in that group look just as bad." Chalmes tossed back the rest of the whiskey and sighed deeply. "I don't know if you're ******** yet mate, but if I were you, I would definitely think about taking the equation of the kid out of the picture. Like, if it's yours, sue for custody. I've seen you around Chance, and you're not terrible. Hell, bet you'd be better than whatever the ******** her name is."

spaceLes narrowed his eyes at Chalmes, frowning. Seriously? "It'd be the only time Tria ever did anything to my benefit... and she'd probably demand something ridiculous in return." The muggleborn managed just enough humor to add, "Exactly how traditional of a witch is she, then? We talking fairy tales? Think she'd ask for my firstborn? That'd solve my present dilemma nicely." He took a moment to pour himself another glass of the scotch, glaring at it a second before taking a drink. How messed up was it that he was pretty sure Eretria would be a better parent to a kid than he would? The woman was certifiable. Or, that was his theory. One of them, anyway. He had a few. He might not be particularly involved in the seedy underground of the wizarding world and it's upperclass (he got quite enough of that in the muggle world, thanks), but he knew things. Enough to know that she wasn't someone he wanted for an enemy. Which meant it was a very good thing she wasn't here, because he didn't think she liked him very much, and the last thing he needed was to give her a reason to outright hate him. Besides, her brothers were his best friends, so that'd be awkward.

spaceThe Slytherin managed a small murmur of agreement at Chalmes' statement that women like Francesca were why they preferred being single. Truth be told, she, and women like her, were literally the reason he did. He didn't want to tie himself down to a b***h like that, and what other prospects did he have? The only women who were ever interested in him were either like her, or they were like Tassy, and only interested in sex. Well, Tassy wasn't only interested in sex, they were friends when they weren't screwing. But she wasn't interested in him romantically. Nor was he interested in her, he thought, ignoring the little sense of something or another that came with it.

space"Women like this are also the reason I'm so over the top about trying to prevent this exact thing from happening," he added bitterly, narrowing his eyes. He recalled Tassy teasing him about how paranoid he was about getting a woman pregnant... hmph. Apparently, he'd not been paranoid enough. He felt a little guilty when the next thought to occur was, 'Why couldn't it have been her?' Not that he wanted to land the two of them in that position, not even remotely, but hell, if some woman was going to turn up pregnant with his kid, he'd like it to be one he trusted with the future of his offspring. Especially since he didn't think that he should ever, under any circumstances, be allowed to be a father. Which, he was ******** on that point, whether Chalmes thought so or not. If the kid was his, anyway. He still wasn't sure of that... his paranoia over safe sex should've kept it from happening. Unless she'd done something, which was part of why he was so sure he'd been set up.

spaceHe was in the middle of taking a drink when Chalmes' next words hit, prompting him to sputter and make a mess of the scotch all over his hand and sleeve. The muggleborn stared at his friend like he'd grown a second head, because surely to God the squib hadn't just said what he thought he'd just heard. "You insane, mate?" Les asked, setting the glass down and making a half-assed attempt at cleaning the drink off of his hand with the already-doused sleeve. "Babysitting your kid for an hour or so at a time is not the same thing as having to bloody raise one, Christ. Besides, Chance was already two when you got him. I don't know a thing about babies, the only babies I've ever even been around are Desi and Zach, and Ada barely lets me within five feet of them half the time."

spaceBut, as much as he protested the idea... the idea of Francesca raising a kid of his made his skin crawl. She was entitled, selfish, snotty, and honestly the biggest critique he had for his own theory that she'd planned this was that she wasn't exactly the brightest bulb in the lamp. Might not be smart enough to've pulled this off. She wasn't mother material, not by a long shot. And her parents couldn't be much better, since they'd raised her to begin with, he thought bitterly. <********, this kid is ******** either way," he muttered, groaning as he leaned back on the couch, a hand covering his eyes. "... God, I hope it's not mine. But if it's not, it's got to be someone's, and the poor b*****d'll probably never even know. And Francesca's going to ******** the kid over, she doesn't have a selfless bone in her body, no way she can be a decent mother. ********> How ******** up did a situation have to be for a kid that he was the better option for parenthood? Seriously. He should never be a father. To the point that, hell, he should've gotten fixed so it wasn't even an issue. Why the hell hadn't he done that, he thought with a frown. Would've saved him a hell of a lot of trouble.

Chalmes grunted as he put down the last box from his car. Straightening up, he stretched, feeling his muscles protest from the action. He'd forgotten how much moving sucked, and unlike Chris and his wife moving, Chalmes had insisted on moving the old-fashioned way. Besides, Chris and Ada were completely capable of moving all of their furniture on their own. Ruddy family of vampires. Chalmes loved his brother, and he was getting better about the whole vampire thing, but it still irked him that they weren't growing older together. Chris still looked as old as the day he'd vanished, while Chalmes just proceeded to age as normal. It sucked, especially since he'd spent the greater part of his life looking into a mirror when he looked at Chris and now it wasn't the case.

He shook his head, deciding to banish such thoughts as he looked over to Elli. He'd asked her to move in a while ago, and they had finally gotten time to actually move everything. He was shaking his head ruefully though as he realized that Chance was going to share a room with Elli's son. Chance might not like the idea, but he'd get used to it. After all, it wasn't so bad having to share a room. However, he wondered if Elli needed help with lifting anything, since she was smaller than he was. He'd never accuse her of being weak, just that he knew that with his line of work, he was used to lifting heavy objects. "Need any help there, Ell? I can move some of the boxes into other rooms so we can start unpacking if you want to."

Elli had just plopped a lighter box down in the middle of the living room with the rest of the boxes. Kory was currently sitting on the edge of one box looking up at her. "Ma, why couldn't daddy and Chance move in with us instead? We've got more rooms!" Elli blinked and hid a smile at the idea of a boy living under her father's roof that she wasn't married to and whom Kory called daddy. She crouched down at Kory's eye level and grinned. "You remember how Grandpa Mikey reacted the last time Cam visited?" Upon the boy's tentative nod, she continued "Well, Grandpa Mikey would be like that all the time, and we don't want him to be unhappy." Kory paused for a few moments with a thoughtul look. "But won't Grandpa Mikey get lonely in that big house all by himself?" Elli shook her head. "Never! He's got all the paintings, and I made him promise to get a few new house elves as well. He'll be fine. Plus me and you and Aunt Ver will visit him ALL the time still." Kory grinned and looked up at Chalmes with a tiny giggle "Can Chance show me our room while you and mommy unpack?"

Elli smiled and ruffled her son's hair before standing up at her full height and raising an eyebrow at her boyfriend.
"You know, if you let me use magic, this would be 10 times easier." She teased, sticking her tongue out at him. She glanced down at the boxes though and bit her lip. Her first pregnancy hadn't been very easy on her body, she'd been young and unprepared (and determined to continue playing quidditch the entire pregnancy). She knew better this time though, she couldn't put strain on her body at all. As it was, she had a feeling this time it'd be harder. Her and Chalmes were both twins. The odds of them having twins were exponentially higher with that. She glanced up at him and picked back up the light box she'd been carrying. She knew for a fact it was filled with pillows. As she began carrying it towards the bedroom she glanced over her shoulder at Chalmes. "You should probably do all the heavy lifting though, I doubt lifting heavy things will be good for the pregnancy." With those words, she disappeared into the bedroom, dropping the box of pillows and then sitting on the edge of the bed nervously. Sure she'd just dropped a huge thing, but Chalmes could handle it... right?

Well it ωαṡ cool cool, it was just all ¢øøℓ.

Chalmes crossed his arms and had to hold in a snicker as Kory complained about moving in. His place wasn't the biggest, but it was decently-sized. Plus, he'd had Chris and his kids over all the time before, and the place never seemed crowded. Then again, they never stayed, either. He sighed, looking over at Chance as the younger boy had been poking into other boxes being brought in. Sighing, Chalmes shook his head at the young boy before he took one of Chance's hands and pulled him away from a box before Kory suggested that Chance show him their room. "Yeah, Daddy, can I? Please?" Chance's eyes had gotten big and round while he looked at Elli and him. Chalmes could have sworn that the two had them wrapped around their little fingers, and there wasn't much that Chalmes or Elli could do about it. Not without causing some kind of irreparable harm or something. No, he wasn't as strict as his own father had been, but he tried to be a good dad nevertheless. It still unnerved him a bit when he realized that Kory had taken to calling him daddy though, and Chance call Elli mummy. Technically they did have those respective parents, it just wasn't the couple together.

Chalmes couldn't help it and snickered out loud before nodding to the two boys, which caused Chance to let out a whoop and grab Kory's hand and racing out of the room. Chalmes found himself calling after the two to walk instead of run, before he looked over to Elli as she made a comment it would be easier with magic. He couldn't help the face he made, though. He'd managed just fine throughout his life without magic, and he could still do so now. "Nah, we're fine. Won't kill us to do things the muggle way, after all." He made to start moving boxes around, stacking up boxes for other rooms together before he frowned at her next comment. Wait, did she say...? It took him a moment to digest her words before his eyes widened and he glanced back to Elli. She was joking, right? He watched her disappear into the bedroom and he stood up, ignoring the boxes piled up and strode after her. "Wait, you're pregnant? When did you find out? How long? Bloody hell..."
