Farewell my dear, I leave you here For the waves, they have been calling I promise now I will return Before the leaves have fallen I will come back to you a man Having sailed the wide world over I'll bring you tales of far off lands When I see you in the summer
Oh make way while the wind is high For the sea calls me on Oh make way while the wind is high For the sea calls me on
Oh sister dear, be glad for me My actions brave have pleased the captain If I remain two turns at sea Then I may hope to make my living Forgive me sister this delay Not often has my word been broken Write to me of your naming day And say for me the words unspoken
Oh make way while the wind is high For the sea calls me on Oh make way while the wind is high For the sea calls me on
Sister I've been called to war For there's danger in our waters I hope to be with you once more And to see your lovely daughters
Oh make way while the wind is high For the sea calls me on Oh make way while the wind is high For the sea calls me on
I promised to return Before the leaves had fallen But seven turns now I've been gone And still the waves are calling Sister, guard your girls for me And should they ever start to roam Be wary if they go to sea For they never will come home

Neri's Song (Love and a Lady)
I fell in love with a girl by the sea When she smiled her sweet smile and flicked her blonde hair at me Turns we spent, alone in the sand And went through the good and the bad, hand in hand
But there was another world out there for her That promised her freedom and spoke of adventure And my memory, and the smell of the sea Weren't enough to keep her with me For nothing could keep her with me
Because I fell in love with a girl by the sea Until a search rider came and stole her away from me Turns from them, while we were apart I found a lovely green lady had captured her heart
Now my rival in love was a tough one to fight And she fell in love with my love at first sight From the smile she wears to the looks that they share I knew that I'd never compare For nothing could ever compare
Because I fell in love with a girl by the sea Until a green dragon came and stole her away from me Turns went by, that I had been gone To find out that she had completely moved on
There's nothing left now but to wish them the best And hope that their love can stand up to the test I hope that she's brave and can keep my love safe From the dangers they both soon shall face The dangers that all dragons face
Because I fell in love with a girl by the sea But the time that we shared is now only a memory Turns from then, I'll look to the sky And perhaps see my love and her lady go by
Talkin' Bout a Revolution Don't you know, they're talking about a revolution It sounds like a whisper Don't you know, they're talking about a revolution It sounds like a whisper
When they're standing on the hatching sands Staying in their place for the promise of salvation Wasting time in these forsaken lands Or sitting around waiting for a promotion Don't you know, they're talking about a revolution It sounds like a whisper
Green dragons gonna rise up and get their share Blue dragons gonna rise up and take what's theirs

The Old Harper's Song (pending better title) Once I had a young man's face It's hard to see, I know And I have been to every place That you would think to go
I sang for lords and ladies In Holds all through the West And of all the songs they heard me play They'd say that I had done it best
Yes once I was a Harper With tenure wide and long But now I'll play for half a mark As all I know are sad songs
Yes I'm old and grey, but still I play Though all I know are sad songs
Once I had a lady love A sweet but fickle thing I met her in the summer And we married in the spring
She'd weave a flower in her hair And I'd buy her rings of gold But it wasn't enough to keep her love In this tough life on the road
Yes once I had a sweetheart Her hair was fair and long But now my love has gone away And all I play are sad songs
Once I had a daughter With eyes so very blue You'd swear you heard the ocean waves When ere she looked at you
She'd run behind our caravan Her steps were sure and bold But there was nothing that could save her When fever swept the Hold
Yes once I had a daughter Whose heart had known no wrong But sickness took her in the night Now all I write are sad songs
Once I had a dragon With hide like the mountain trees She glowed just like the morning sun And floated on a breeze
She'd turn a corkscrew in the air With the fastest wings around But they weren't enough to save her life When the thread came falling down
Yes once I had a dragon Her back was proud and strong But now my green has gone between And all I know are sad songs
Yes I'm old and bent and my youth is spent And all I know are sad songs

Neri's Songs
Wave Over Wave
I am a Seacraftman, a fisher by trade And I sail on a cutter, the best ever made I've been the world over; north, south, east, and west And the middle of nowhere's where I likes it best
Where its wave over wave, sea over bow I'm as happy a man as the sea will allow There's no other life for a sailor like me And to sail the salt sea boys, to sail the sea There's no other life but to sail the salt sea
The work it is weary, the hours are long But my spirit is willing, my back it is strong And when the works over the wine skins will pour We'll dance at the gather, when we get to shore
Where its wave over wave, sea over bow I'm as happy a man as the sea will allow There's no other life for a sailor like me And to sail the salt sea boys, to sail the sea There's no other life but to sail the salt sea
I've sailed all Pern over, for ten turns or more And often times I wonder what I do it for I don't know the answer, there's pleasure and pain But with life to live over I'd do it again
Where its wave over wave, sea over bow I'm as happy a man as the sea will allow There's no other life for a sailor like me And to sail the salt sea boys, to sail the sea There's no other life but to sail the salt sea
