Will be flying in the first wave

Shyn'ar stood by Gwyllinth, hand resting one the blue flank as they waited. The straps had been checked and met with Gwyl approval. They had the first half of the fall to get through. He stretched slightly, checking the lay of his leathers.

Gwyllinth grumbled, eyes whirling as he looked up towards the skies, wings mantled.

"Mmhm, we'll get through it." Shyn'ar replied, glancing at his sibling and then up at the sky.

TRESSPASSERS WING

D'cimus and Amroth will be flying First wave

The large man stood silently watching everything that was going on. He had not seen K'ienn as they were moving to join the other wings, but he knew the man was there. The protectiveness for his friend made him worry some as he wanted to make sure he did the best he could to protect his wingmates, as well as his friend.

Amroth pressed his head against his rider, letting a wave of love and cheer into the man. It always seemed to startle him some, not prepared, even with how long he had been bonded with his rider. Everything will be alright D'cimusmine. We were made for this, we will do what we can to protect during our length of time.

A large hand moved to run over Amroth's headknobs, causing a happy thrum to issue from the blue. D'cimus was always grateful for the feelings of love from his dragon, always there to remind him that not everything was as bleak as it had been in Nabol Hold or the mines. They had a purpose now, a great one that made a difference.

Now we're attracting attention, G'lin informed Neiveth as he waved back to the more experienced brownrider from their Wing. "Neiveth is just particular - and really better to make her happy than to have her annoyed by it while we're up in the air," he answered to Thella, trying to not sound embarrassed that the redo of the straps was noticed.

Neiveth, however, was not worried about the fact someone was paying attention to her and hers. After all! Her G'lin was rather fantastic - and so was that handsome brown! Lireloth, dear! You are looking quite vibrant today! I do hope that means you'll hopefully keep an eye out for little ol' me~ because goodness, there were so many nice dragons in this wing, having straps to not worry about meant she could flirt a little bit more.

And this is why practice went poorly.... Oh hush!

You as well, Ddraigth! Dormith rumbled back amicably to his brother, sending back a wave of favor and luck to his fellow bronze. You and yours will support your wing phenomenally. Certainly, being a Wingsecond suited him unlike he and his W'dre (though Dormith alone likely would have been a rather suitable leader. Too bad he'd chosen so poorly, according to some).

Aly'on shifted from foot to foot as he checked over Ihiannsith one last time. He trotted about the brown's large bulk one last time. He was worried and nervous and uneasy with the upcoming threadfall wave. Shyn'ar would be up there and his younger siblings and niece down below and he just hoped all would stay safe.

Ihiannsith tolerated his rider nervous energy, shifting slightly.

'I know, I know, I just worry and I want everyone to be safe.' Aly'on breathed out , resting against the bulky brown.

Thella gave a little nod to G'lin, understanding completely what a fussy dragon was like. Lireloth had his moments, that was for sure, but she was thankful he wasn't like that full-time. She wasn't sure she could handle a dragon like that. She'd get so frustrated with everything having to be 'just so'. In fact, when Lireloth got fixated on something not being perfect she'd toss her hands up and tell him to knock it off or they wouldn't be doing anything. Generally she won out when her dragon became bored, but sometimes Lireloth persisted.

"That's very true, especially at a time like this," she agreed. "Ensure your dragon is comfortable and ready and you'll be as swift as the wind and as agile as a bird." She gave him a little grin of encouragement as she ignored her dragon who was positively preening under Neiveth's charming words. Lireloth extended a long wing to rest it gently against the smaller green, shading her from anything that might fall from above.

Never fear, Neiveth, you shall prevail! I shall be sure to watch your back if you watch mine. As proud and spotlight-hoggy as he was, Lireloth knew the benefit of having others watching him at times like this. He loved to be the center of attention, it was true, but during a Threadfall all focus should be on the danger falling from above. Keeping your wingmates safe was high priority because they, in turn, would keep him safe.

Queen's Wing
G'ran of brown Elzebuth

Luck: +1

To be flying with the Queens was almost humiliating for the large, dark Devil, but it was for the sake of G'ran's health. He would never admit that his wings still ached mildly from the beating they'd taken only a bit ago--but he absolutely refused to compromise when it came to His. Fortunately, G'ran's wounds, though spreading across an extensive amount of skin, were not as serious as they had seemed. The shock, exhaustion, and crippling fear of Between had rattled him more than anything, but he was determined not to make a fool out of himself or his fellows again. If that meant serving as the last line of defense, so be it.

We will. Come home to us. There was a definite command in those words, and G'ran chuckled quietly at Elzebuth's defiant attitude. "We'll do better, this time." He said, patting his brown's neck. Elzebuth rumbled deeply in return, his eyes whirling a mixture of green and red. Yes. They would do better, and all would see just how great they could be.

A quick look around the large holding area was an inspiring sight to see. Wings were forming up in groups, riders and dragons alike speaking to one another, prepping each other for what lay ahead. M'aze turned his head to find one of his own wingmates fidgeting a bit and he knew there was nothing worse than the nerves before a flight. He himself was quite laid back and even he felt that twinge of uncertainty and fear just before take off. This could be his last few hours on this world, after all. Still, didn't mean he couldn't offer a supportive word or two.

"That's why we're here," he said to Aly'on, giving the other rider a wink of encouragement. "So long as we stick to our orders we'll make sure everyone else stays safe, too."

A lovely trickle-down effect, Zeath chimed in, giving his fellow dragon a little nod as he comforted his rider. Although he was bronze he and Ihiannsith matched each other in length, toe to tip, and he knew the large brown would be his mirror in the wing. They'd be the anchor points around which the smaller dragons would move once they got higher up in altitude.

G'lin was taking extra care to make sure the straps sat just right against Neiveth's shoulders, smoothing them out as he went so they wouldn't twist somewhere and make her fuss about them all over again. He really would have just let her get away with murder by only asking if he needed to hide the body for her if she'd been the sort. Fortunately, she wasn't.

"A happy green is a reliable green," G'lin nodded as he spoke, ignoring that Neiveth was becoming a fidgety mess now that she had an attentive dragon to dote all of her affections onto. Though he did pat her chest once to keep her from just sidling right up next to Lireloth to lay on any extra charm she'd been planning on.

Instead, she sent the brown a small wave of affection that a human would have compared to blowing someone a kiss. I'll more than watch it, I assure you. Oh, if only her G'lin would settle her straps more quickly! Bah!

Will be flying in the first wave

Are you nervous? Vishnuth nudged his with his snout as Anandi checked his straps for the seventh time. There was a short, jovial chuckle that followed and Anandi bristled slightly, smoothing out her outfit to keep her hands occupied. Threadfall meant incredible bustling and anxious activity in the Weyr, which made Anandi all the more restless.

Yes! But... we will do a very good job. We've been training for this! I just hope nothing terrible happens to Fahn while we're out! She leaned forward and rested her head on the blue's broad forearm.

She will be safe here. We will be sure of it.

The rider took a deep breath and released it slowly, just as she had been taught. Choosing to go in the first wing meant they'd complete their task faster and could help attend to others that might come back from the first shift if necessary. Yes! Fighting on Fahn's behalf... makes things just a little easier, I think.

Fahn was likely helping as best she could, given she had no dragon of her own just yet. Anandi was sure it would happen for her soon, though the idea of her beloved cousin fighting Thread... Anandi understood utterly why it was so important, and incredibly dangerous. Knowing that, the rider did hope to give her cousin a hug before taking flight. One never knew with Thread.

Alythrae and Tarmath will be flying the First Wave

Secured into her straps and eyes cast skyward, the spritely rider was unusually quiet in her preparations, or at least with them all done. There had been tell that this might be a rough fight today and she was not at all looking forward to seeing just how bad it could be with every dragon rider in her family about to be in the air. D'ast she knew could take care of himself, he had Zetigeth and that little brown was the most reliable dragon that either she or Tarmath knew. It was her four children that stressed her out so close on the heels of the first Weyrling flight that Demanthra had participated in.

Even the large green was a bit anxious but she was doing her best to hold everything together and was simply growling at the sky with her eyes whirling reds and oranges of anger like usual. Under normal circumstances she would have been growling anyway, Tarmath hated Thread but she loved to fight it and looked forward to every time she got to be in the air with her wing. Today was going to be personal though, today was going to be a different kind of battle and her silence drew out dangerously as her growl slowed to a rumble and her eyes turned fully red with anticipation and anger.

Thella gave a little nod. Her mother was a greenrider and she knew that to be true. While small, they were hardy creatures, even her mother's delicate little thing. Graceful and swift, they were the ones that could get into a Fall and escape without so much as a burn if they were good at jumping Between. Normally it was the little dragons that really were best at it, as well.

Behind and above her, Lireloth retracted his wing as his eyes swirled a lovely shade of green, thoughts of Threadfall forgotten for a moment in favor of the charming little green beside him. Her warm, affectionate wave washed over him, chasing away any sort of doubt or worry that might have been lingering about the flight. If there was one thing that got him in the right state of mind for a battle like this, it was the promise of a pretty dragon watching him show off.

A charming promise from a charming dragon, my dear, he cooed in reply, his tail swinging back and forth in an attempt to find hers. All he managed to do, though, was to sweep a Candidate off their feet as they hustled around with satchels of firestone. His efforts earned him a whack against his shoulder and he lowered his head to glare at Thella who was glaring right back.

"Look at what you did, Lireloth. The poor thing," she said, motioning back towards the Candidate who was getting to her feet and stuffing the fuel back into the bag. "Focus on the task and hand and you two lovebirds can flirt after Thread has passed for the day."

Oh, you're no fun, Thella. A beautiful dragon with charming words gets me in the proper mindset, he huffed in return, folding his wings neatly against his side as he raised his head snobbishly. I apologize for the boorish behavior my rider is showing, Neiveth. Pay her no mind.

Thella heaved a sigh and glanced back at G'lin, a wry smile on her face. "He does have a point...he always performs much better at his tasks when he knows others are watching. Show off."

[*Will fly first wave]

Kyt checked their straps once more. Not too tight? Just right. Hush your worrying. I am too quick for Thread to catch. We will fly beautifully as always. The young woman allowed herself a smile at the reassurance of her partner. It was their first threadfall flying, they had been fresh weyrlings the last time, and it had been a harrowing experience despite High Reaches attempts to keep their crew prepared. She couldn't bear the thought of Rath being hurt. Or any one else for that matter. She let her mind wander to her older brother but shook the thought away quickly. Beside her the green rumbled in amusement. Don't worry silly thing. Soreth is a capable grump. They will be fine. Though not nearly as lovely as we will be.

Whoops! Neiveth was all laughter at the accidental toppling of the candidate - though she kept such laughter private between herself and Lireloth. When G'lin finally got his straps in place, she gave a full body shake to feel them out, thrumming thoughtfully as if holding onto some sort of critique for her rider - before practically bowling the boy over to sidle up closer to her brown wingmate at last.

Oh yes, life was good.

G'lin, on the other hand, rolled his eyes with his own laughter as he moved to help the poor candidate stuff firestone back into their bags. Hey, as long as both feet were on the ground, he saw no issue with lending a helping hand.

The only one I'm paying attention to is you, Lireloth dear~ As Neiveth leaned in, clearly happy to hang onto the brown's every word with an affectionate trill, G'lin turned back towards Thella with a laugh. "Well she'll keep extra watch on him, that's for sure!" he agreed. Though privately, he knew better than to say 'she's not going to focus on anything else'. Faranth, if she'd just rise and get it out of her system it...it would really actually make no difference.

Sigh.

Do you think we got enough practice, Cordrath? there was humor that surrounded the man's worried tone, and the bronze rumbled it away. Rely on our new compatriots, right? He'd heard M'nr spin situations to his favor so many times, that it seemed almost comical that now he was worrying at all. Of course, he always shone his brightest when there was a small ounce of desperation lacing such things.

Of course, it wasn't as though as if they'd stayed at Benden they would have been any more prepared than they were right then. Still, a few weeks of practice and another uplift into the air - Cordrath felt almost like a natural. A bit rusty in some places, but a natural never the less. Still, he kept his head level, wrapping up a pleasant thought to send across the ocean.

Dearest Susurinth, our children are so very eager. Would I be foolish to hope I could burn all of this menace from the sky before it would reach your shore and their wings were large enough to carry them towards it?

No, he was sure any father would feel the same. He would have wrapped even his first clutch up safely in his wings to guard them, though it would have done them no good - and it was not his place to hold them back. So for now, he would hold the skies to keep the ground they were stuck on safe and sound.

M'nr chuckled, patting one of Cordrath's broad shoulders. You are not wrong to want to take care of them. I'm sure I would feel the same. And even with elderly parents, he did so. Though there was not much more than waited for him on the ground.

I recommend a weyrmate and a kid, then. It's very nice.

So you tell me.

Cordrath could be enough enamored for the both of them, for now.

Hattaki
A loving thought to Susurinth.
