╔═══════════════════ Erin’s lightly whispered ‘sorry’ wouldn’t have been heard by a non-shifter. Her whispered words were barely audible and yet they held so much emotion that he felt his heart break a little. How many times had he heard his sister apologize for something that wasn’t her fault? How many times had she cowered in on herself, just like she was now? How many times had he witnessed this same reaction in response to their parents abuse towards her? He hated being the cause of this reaction now, especially when he had hoped that this would be a happy reunion between the two of them. Sighing lightly, he turned to really look at her. With her ears tipped forward as if to hid her face, he knew that she was doing her best to keep it together. Her little sniffle only worked to further break his heart. All he wanted to do was protect her. But it seemed that there was a great void between them, one that he hoped to close, given time. But it pained him to know that if he reached out to her now, to comfort her as he’d done so many times before, that she might flinch away in response. With Gannon’s speech ended, and the students dismissed, he wondered what Erin would do. Would she move to follow the others to the festival? Would she instead explore the campus? Would she want him to accompany her? Or would she prefer to be alone? He hoped that whatever she chose to do, that she would welcome his company. He’d missed her greatly and didn’t want to be without her now that she’s arrived. Turning to fully face his sister, he knew that he couldn’t wrap her in his arms, although he desperately wanted to. Instead he settled for offering her his hand. “You don’t have to apologize Erin. You never have to apologize to me.” He whispered low so only she could hear, as to not embarrass her. “I’m sorry that I startled you. I was just very excited and happy to see you. I still am…I really missed you, Erin. He hoped that she would accept his apology and take his hand, but it seemed that they needed to take baby steps toward repairing and rebuilding their bond. He was willing to do that for her, she was, after all, his most precious person.

╔═══════════════════ Gin couldn’t help but be disappointed. He knew that he shouldn’t take it to heart, but he did. Erin needed time away from him, time to get her thoughts in order. He understood this – something had happened to her and she needed time to sort through it. But in his mind, they’d been apart for four years…the last thing he wanted to do was spend more time apart.
The only thing that comforted him was the fact that she admitted that she’d missed him too. It went a long way to reassuring him that there was a bond still between them, even if it was flimsy and fragile. He didn’t stop her when she got up to walk away. He wanted to. He wanted to reach out and hug her, tell her he was sorry for ever leaving, for leaving her with them. It took everything in him to hold himself back. Still seated in his chair, he listened to her receding footsteps until he couldn’t hear her anymore.
Once she was gone, he felt his sadness turn to anger. His family was to blame for this. For everything. Even when he’d still been at home they’d been horrible to Erin. At the time, he’d been too young and weak to do anything, but now… “They’ll pay for this…” He growled to himself, his claws digging into his palms again, this time drawing blood. Arising from his seat, he headed out of the auditorium in a foul mood. He didn’t know what he was going to do, but his family would regret the day they’d decided to harm their own daughter.

╔═══════════════════ A lone figure sat on the rooftop of the Academy’s Auditorium, his gaze turned skyward as the fireworks burst to life only to shimmer into oblivion to the fascinated cries of the crowd below. Here, the noise from the display wasn’t as hard on his ears and you could see them perfectly without the push of people around you. Eyes devoid of much emotion, Gin felt no joy in watching the display. He had hoped to share the experience with his sister, Erin. It was her first say at the Academy after all, but he sat alone. After Erin had walked out of the Auditorium, he couldn’t bring himself to go after her or to attend the festival. He had wanted to share it with her and he found that without her to share it with, he’d had no interest in visiting the festive event alone. Never one to have too many friends, there was no one who came looking for him, no one that wondered where he was or why he hadn’t shown up. He was on his own, a lone wolf, as cliché and irritating as the pun was. As the fireworks display burst into its finale, the colors mixing and illuminating the ground below, the pops and booms accentuating the excitement the event was supposed to infuse, Gin turned his gaze to the small piece of paper held in his hand. With the light of the fireworks, the words written upon the paper were as clear as if they’d been lit by the sun. ‘WHAT DID YOU DO TO MY SISTER.’ Seven words. That was all he needed. It was a simple question and yet he knew that the answer he’d receive would be so much more complicated. He’s asked his mother and father to watch over Erin in his absence. He’d known that they wouldn’t love her – they were well past loving her. Even If she were to suddenly develop the ability to take on a beast form they would still shun her. But she was still a part of the pack, a member of the family. And yet, they’d hurt her, abused her. He didn’t know the details, not yet, but he would have them. Climbing down from the rooftop, Gin headed for the Library. The professors often sent messages via bird to other kingdoms or messages on behalf of the students. With the piece of paper in his hand, he marched toward the building, determination in every step. He wanted his answers one way or another…

╔═══════════════════ -Enter Gin into the Auditorium Grounds – Early Morning -
After leaving his dorm room, Gin had opted to wander around the campus in his wolf form. Since his first year, Gin had developed a reputation as the Academy’s ‘Resident Wolf’. Due to his unorthodox sleeping habits, he had made it a point to wander around the campus in the dead of night to keep his mind and body occupied. This helped him fight the urge to sleep, most of the time anyway.
In his beast form, Gin had been described as ‘Majestic, Terrifying, Beautiful’ and ‘Mesmerizing’. Non-Shifters always found it fascinating to see the beast form of a Shifter. Many envied them the ability and the freedoms it offered, others looked upon Shifters with disgust. While it was a Knit power, many believed that long ago magic users had mated with animals and created the Shifters – which was absurd – but prejudice was prejudice and so, many looked upon Shifters as little more than walking, talking animals. Gin couldn’t care less what people thought – he was who he was and nothing would change that, so why worry about it?
Walking through the cool grass outside of the auditorium, Gin took his time getting to class. He’d already had a delicious breakfast – steak with eggs and orange juice. He knew he'd need lots of protein to keep his stomach happy for the rest of the day while he listened to Professor Ackkerman drone on about 'the importance of being a Shifter'.
Releasing a heavy sigh, Gin shook his head and growled lightly as he felt a wave of fatigue wash over him. He needed to sleep, his body was demanding it, but he refused. He needed to push himself to complete exhaustion before he would allow himself to rest – it was the only way to keep the visions at bay. Head hung low as he walked, he didn’t notice any of the other students around him or the comments they might be making upon seeing such a large black and silver wolf wandering the grounds.

╔═══════════════════ Walking along, minding his own business, doing his best not to fall asleep while he walked slowly to class, Gin felt someone bump into his side. Growling lightly at the contact, not used to being touched, he sniffed the air a bit. ‘Female, freshly cleaned, although…she stinks of fear.’ He thought as he turned his head to look back at the girl holding the book against her chest like a shield as she trembled in fear. Frozen in place, she couldn’t seem to move.
It was likely, given the book in her hands, that she hadn’t meant to bump into him but that didn’t matter. She needed to be taught a little lesson in manners. Maneuvering around her, he made a show of sniffing her as he circled her petite form. Growling lightly, he narrowed his gaze on her before snapping his jaws lightly. He wasn’t a threat to her, but she didn’t know that. He merely wanted her to know that he was dangerous and if he wanted to, he could hurt her…not that he would.

╔═══════════════════ One moment the girl was begging him to be merciful, the next she was claiming that she wouldn’t make a tasty meal and then the girl had the audacity to smack him on the snout with her book! The nerve! She’d bumped into him when he was minding his own business and now she was hitting him! He honestly didn’t know whether to be amused or angry with her.
Irritated by the whole situation, Gin huffed, a growl escaping his lips as he sat back on his haunches in front of the girl. Holding her gaze with his mismatched eyes, he shifted his form. Slowly, the form of the black and silver wolf changed from the beast into a 6’2” male, with tanned skin, silver hair, two large silver ears and a long silver tail. Unlike some of the newest students, Gin could shift with his clothes on, ensuring that when he went in and out of his beast form, he would have to dress and undress each time.
Mismatched eyes still locked on the girl, he growled lightly, his much shorter fangs flashing in irritation. “You run into me, barely apologize and then smack me on the nose with your book? What did I do to you, huh?” His mood, already dark, wasn’t made any better by the girl’s actions. He knew she’d been scared, but he hadn’t down anything to harm her. Yet she’d attacked him. Gaze narrowed, ear turned backward, tail swishing, he looked like the human version of his wolfish self - he didnt care if the girl had never seen a shifter, he didnt like how she'd reacted to him and he wanted an explanation.

╔═══════════════════ ‘This girl can talk…A LOT.’ Gin thought with a frown as he remained in his crouched position. Granted, sometimes women talked a lot when they were nervous – this wasn’t the first time he’d scared a girl like this and it certainly would be his last. But he didn’t need a full-on explanation as to why she’d reacted the way she did – he was a wolf, people tended to be afraid of them. Rolling his eyes as she continued on, he let his guard down for a moment.
The female, seeming to see this as some sort of invitation, had the audacity to reach out and touch him. Even though Gin liked to be pet, he didn’t know this girl and he certainly wasn’t going to encourage her to touch him without an invitation – he had a reputation to uphold after all. He’d been about to snap at her when she found his weakness – his ears. One stroke of his ears and his irritation melted away. However, as soon as her hand ceased it’s petting, the spell was broken.
Growling lightly, he moved back a few paces as he moved on all fours away from the girl. He didn’t care if she was curious about him, she didn’t have a right to touch him. Pushing off of the ground with his hands, Gin straightened up to his full height. Taenya was a petite little female, in fact she was shorter than Sokea by at least a few inches. So when he straightened up to look down at her from his full height, it was clear that she was outmatched. Crossing his arms over his bare chest, he sneered down at her.
“Look, I get it, you’re curious, but you shouldn’t go around touching people. It’s rude.” Twitching his ears, Gin swished his tail a bit before wrapping it around himself. Taking a few steps back from the girl, he frowned. First Sokea had shown an interest in him, and now this girl. He didn't know why he was attracting so much unwanted attention, but he didn't like it.

══════════════════════════════════ -Enter Sokea to Auditorium from Gin and Sokea's dorm-
Sokea finally made his way to outside the auditorium, which didn't take too long; he searched furiously for the culprit, the one who dared to bother Gin, a man who has enough emotional problems to deal with. Sokea was blind to the fact that even he could add to the list, but in this case: ignorance is bliss. He suddenly spotted her, where Gin was standing a few paces away from her (as he should) at his full glorious height. This soothed Sokea's current irrational state as he calmly made his way towards the girl.
All the things he could do to her, and she wouldn't even see it coming. Even though Sokea was a petite flower, he could wreck a formidable foe if they were careless enough. Alas, now was not the time to starting fights in school. He'll just make his presence known to the girl. He made sure he had a straight path to her, so he then switched back to blind, making sure he can "accidentally" bump into her.
Only about a foot away from the girl, Sokea faked his fall, slamming his body right into hers, who was also a small person, even smaller than him, conveniently creating a link as well. She held her ground as Sokea fell onto the grass. Quickly getting up, he continued his charade.
"I'm so sorry, I seem to have lost my way. I have this thing where I can't see, so trying to find my class on my own has been quite difficult." Looking in Gin's direction, he smiled, hoping he would catch on to his ruse. Looking back at the girl, Sokea awaited her response.
