[Floor 2, Room 13]


From the forest came another room with a whole lot of nothing to it. Almost. As they got to the middle, a single Silver Token could be seen... but, Amaranth had a feeling that it wasn't going to be a wise idea to grab it. Moving to the side to ignore it, she'd simply go on to the next room. As she put her hand on the door to open it, a Klefki would suddenly spring from it and giggle, casting an unusual energy that ensured that Forge's wounds weren't going anywhere. Whatever recovery he was managing... just stopped. A sense of dread came as it flew away and dropped a couple of Silver Tokens, though they were seemingly allowed to continue.

[Floor 2, Room 17]


Upon entering the next room, Amaranth thought it'd be relatively safe. The room looked oddly dusty, almost mountainous... but otherwise empty. It was as close too good fortune as anyone could get, so she figured it'd be a simple trek to the other side and the next room awaiting her and Forge. As soon as she stepped down on one of the "tiles," she would learn that things weren't quite as they seemed and it'd be a harsh reminder to never trust anyone or anything within the labyrinth. At first, the shifting had her on edge.

"No! Did I hit another trap!?"

Then, she calmed down.

"No, nothing's seemed to change..."

Then, she noticed that the whole room, walls and all, were moving of their own accord as the Crustle revealed themselves. Even the ceiling seemed to have a layer of them.

"Wait, why's the room moving!?"

Before she had the time to sort anything out, a few of the Crustle fell from the ceiling and crushed Forge, moving off the bird as they landed. She'd be able to grab him as soon as the chance arose, but with the lack of moving, she already feared that their run was over. She'd start moving from "tile" to "tile" as she tried to make her way across, trying to administer a Max Revive all the while and being left with little choice but to attack the back of one Crustle with an axe kick in an effort to keep it at bay. Though it'd be successful, she'd also find that the back of that Crustle was much softer than expected, crumbling apart and revealing a Boldore that was apparently hiding from within. Without a second's hesitation, it'd explode on the spot and send the pair flying into the door on the other end.

Barely getting up in time to open it, they'd leave in a grand hurry. Unfortunately, though the Max Revive was able to get Forge back up and in fighting shape, the Boldore's explosion seemed to lessen its effectiveness...

Roll Results:
5. Take Nx12 damage - 60 damage taken. Fletchling fainted. Max Revive used and Heal Block removed.
Mystery 2: 11. Boldore explodes. Take 60 damage.

[Floor 2, Room 20, why]


A sense of dread was already hitting as soon as this room was seen again, Persian walking around and all. Amaranth wasn't sure if she should try petting it again, but despite most of her mind screaming not to, she'd walk over and give things another shot. At least, that was the intent until the Persian turned around, raised its head, and went off to do something else in proper cat fashion. "...you know? You're kinda mean," she remarked, picking up another couple of Silver Tokens and simply going on her way.

Roll Results:
5. Nothing happened. Persian turns away because it's a cat.

At this point, the next room seemed like a sort of cruel joke. Mouse traps were scattered all over the floor and dangling from the ceiling in one way or another, to say nothing about the walls. Clearly, someone really wanted to deal with a mouse problem. Or, the labyrinth wanted to deal with an adventurer problem, as navigating the traps proved to be much easier said than done. For Forge, that was; the bird kept going into the ones that dangled from the ceiling as they swung, hearing them snap and cause a bit of pain in the process. Amaranth wasn't totally safe either, with one falling to hit other traps and start making them go off and bounce like something straight out of a cartoon.

Worse still, a Delcatty that had been sitting and waiting for a hopeful attempt at finally being rid of a danged Raichu would show up and attack, smacking Forge out of the air with a jump and swipe of her paw. Her wiles would be lost on the Fletchling by virtue of the attack and pain from many a trap, but he'd still be feeling this for a bit. Wanting very little to do with the fight at this point, he'd hit the Delcatty with an Aerial Ace and send her into a few traps.

The resulting shove meant she'd be left jumping and trying to keep herself away from the traps, screeching as they snapped on her anyway. It left her open for yet another Aerial Ace as she was unable to mount a counter attack, sending her further back behind some shelves in the room... followed by the sound of lightning and sparks flying soon after.

"Uh... maybe we should leave..." Amaranth spoke up, looking to Forge and plucking a couple of Silver Tokens and a Red Shard from an already sprung trap before leaving the Delcatty to whatever fate had befallen her.

Roll Results:
9. Take Nx5 damage - total is 45. Battle Delcatty.

Neutral Matchup: 20-80 damage
Gale Wings: Lower ranges by 20 if enemy doesn't resist Flying-type moves.

[Floor 2, Room 25]


Another room with a lone sarcophagus would end up being seen, with Amaranth tentatively taking her chances and sliding it open to reveal a strange pair of glasses, perfectly intact. Figuring there wouldn't be any strings attached like the Silver Token she found in the last one, she'd pick them up and fold them before putting them away. They wouldn't be too useful right now, but they were worth taking all the same as they went onward.

Roll Results:
14. Earn a Muscle Band, Wise Glasses, or species-specific hold item. Wise Glasses taken.

[Floor 2, Totem Pokemon]


After what seemed like an eternity, Amaranth and Forge would manage to reach the stairs leading to the next room. They were both prepared for the foe that would surely appear to face them, but perhaps not quite who that foe might be. Surprisingly enough, it didn't emerge from near the stairs or guarded them with an intent to make sure any adventurer didn't proceed any further. Instead, it approached from behind with a menacing growl, prompting the two to turn around in an instant.

There, they saw the Delcatty from the room full of mouse traps. Several of them were still on her, clipped to parts of her fur as well as one of her ears and tail. She looked to be covered in singe marks too, twitching a bit from her impromptu assault from the Raichu that she'd been spending so long to try and get. To say she wasn't pleased would be the grandest understatement so far, and the sudden visible aura that surrounded her was enough to know just how rough this was going to be.

One does not simply infuriate a Totem Pokemon, and she was ready to make that clear... if the power boost had included some way of mending the Pokemon's wounds. They didn't, and it left her having to spend time meowing in a chime that sounded soothing, but did nothing to help Forge. For Delcatty, her jitters would lessen and stop, but this left her open.

"Forge, let's finish what we started! Acrobatics!" Amaranth called at once, knowing good and well not to give Delcatty a chance to keep fighting easily. At once, Forge would swoop at the cat and "bounce" off of her before returning to his trainer's side. Being weakened pretty badly already, she'd try to fight back with a Tackle. Though the impact would send Forge onto the ground, it wasn't anything too harsh otherwise. If anything, it left Delcatty with one other option.

She'd start calling as loudly as possible to the rest of the floor, desperate for help in taking down the foe before her and knowing she wouldn't be able to win alone. She'd even take that blasted Raichu's help at this point if it wasn't for Amaranth and Forge having other plans. "No! Forge, shut Delcatty up! Aerial Ace!"

With a quick slam, Delcatty's call for help would cease upon being tackled into a wall with Aerial Ace, the two quickly rushing up the stairs while they had a chance. "Now, go, let's get to the next floor!"

Though Delcatty tried again to call for help, her wounds were too severe and her call too weak. She'd end up fainting just as Amaranth and Forge finished their ascent up the stairs.

The shop's sights would be the best thing to Amaranth and Forge as the approached the new floor, Hedj and Bindu greeting her upon arrival.

"I see you've both managed to survive to make it here," Hedj spoke up. "Perhaps I can interest you in something that'll help continue your journey? Or, maybe Bindu can be of assistance."

"I'm sorry, I... think I'll keep going onward," Amaranth answered, shaking her head.

"A challenge of personal endeavors, I see," Hedj said, giving a nod. "We can respect that. Go, challenger, but do not forget about the key you hold."

Nodding in return, the two would go on out of the shop, hoping whatever awaited them wouldn't be too arduous.
