nope i'm not gonna give up meat. i don't eat a lot of it mind you, but i believe a life lived in balance is a life lived well. i eat a little animal meat, and i prefer the meat that my in-laws can get (wild venison and raised chickens) but there's not enough of that to go around.

its not bad to eat meat. its bad to be ignorant of your source.
for instance, where do you get your heat? likely, it uses something from our good earth, like oil. i once went out and cut down trees to heat my house with a wood stove. i felt like a murderer. but that winter, i felt gratitude toward every tree log i burned. now that i'm in a house with a regular heater, i tend to be more conservative with the ole thermostat.

know your source. be aware. eat lots of veggies cuz they're good for ya. yadda yadda

As mentioned earlier, homo sapiens are omnivores.

A good balance is required. Non- meat proteins can only get you so far, there comes a point when some animal meat is good for you. Mind you, Americans in general have long gone past this because I'm failry sure that humans are more herbivore than carnivore. We introduce too much meat in our diet, making it the main course is not proper for the body. Main courses that work better are starches and carbohydrate as well as vegetables and meat and dairy (not so much either actually. We stress dairy a little much).

I'm vegetarian, but I think we should be balanced. These days, meat is so in demand that animals are being rapidly bread(unntaurally), and suffer just because some guy likes how they taste.

(I'm only vegetarian to balance things out, and it's cruel and inhumane how these animals live)

I love animals I really do. But I love meat too.
I respect vegetarians, because I like how they're helping animals out, but meat is just too good for me to give up. gonk

some people are just so used to meat they cant stop eating it
its really sad i dont like to see animals to die
people should really consist of vegitarian options
(mostly vegtables,fruit,wheats,so on)
thats how people are though
either vegitarians
carnivors
or both
its just how life is

Here is a video called "Meet Your Meat.": It is very graphic, so do not watch if you are squeamish.

I don't have a problem with killing animals for food. Animals kill other animals for food all the time. It's natural. But the way that those animals on factory farms are treated disgusts me. If they were treated humanely, I wouldn't have any problem with it.

But between humanity and profit, those companies are going to choose profit. There's not much we could do about that, other than protest and boycott.

Meat is good but if some people don't feel comfortable eating it then don't! The thing is even if they don't eat it others will so its still hard to control animals being killed!

I don't know how vegetariains(sp?) do it. I mean you need fat to sustain your body(body fat anyone?). So my query is that how do vegetariains gain and sustain body fat?

Many nuts and beans contain lipids and other nutrients which supply your body with an alternative source. Also, any food that you eat will give you nutrients that can be stored as fats in your body.

There they are. The vegetarians.

Look at them pass by knowing that they haven't eaten a dead animal today. How thoughtful of those righteous and good-willed vegetarians.

talk2hand

Gather round, boys and girls. I'm going to tell you why it doesn't matter whether you eat meat or plants and I'm going to tell you why the vegetarian myth of animal rights is completely warped.

The most common vegetarian arguement is that it's good for the animals and we don't have to kill to eat plants. I'm glad to break it to you, plants are alive.

"Oh but plants are just plants. They don't walk around or bark or anything so it's ok for us to kill them."

It's still killing (or murder as some vegetarians describe meat eating). According to you, the level of sentience for animals matters! Sentience is self-awareness or knowledge of existing. Dogs, cats, cows, and other animals are alive and so according to vegetarians should be allowed to go on living.

What about plants?

Do you think that just because a plant can't fight back when you rip it out of the ground that you are superior and thus able to eat it conscience-free? A calf can't fight back when it's put through the slaughter machines so why isn't that ok?

Is it because the calf can scream but a plant can't?

Is it because plants don't bleed?

Is it because you don't have any as pets?

Is it because people don't make coats out of plants?

You might as well let yourself starve to death if you really want to save the environment and give livings things their right to life. Just go on and sacrifice your right to live in the process. You might as well support abortion too just to keep down the number of potential meat eaters.

My oh my, how dare you eat a salad..

I hope you understand that vegetarians are no better than meat eaters. A lot of carnivores (or omnivores like most humans) don't try to get you to eat meat because these people understand the neccessity of eating what they do.

Diet is like religion. It's personal; don't try and force yours on someone else.

I love to eat meat and I'm not planning to be a vegetarian. I love fruits but not vegetables. I only eat potatoes and corns besides that I don't eat it. I especially don't like green leafy vegetables. I really don't like it. No offense to all vegetarians out there.

I eat what doesn't vote.

I think the reason we don't eat people is because they taste bad. I've never eaten person, mind, but I think it's one of many things to do before the Canadian government assassinates me.

If we gave the animals we eat better treatment in farms and such, then I think we wouldn't have this problem. But they don't. And it's unforgivable. Part of the reason why I'm somewhat glad my dinners have not involved as much meat as of late.

You know, I think it's safe to say that humans might be the only omnivorous animal to ever really give a second thought about what they eat.

I think completely negating the use of meat in our diets is pretty silly, denying our humanity, {I don't understand, either, how some vegitarians bash us true omnivores by saying we destroy the environment.. while they're eating the plants..} but I agree with those who are passionate about the pre-mortem treatment of the animals we eat. They're not only here for us, and we're not just animals. We shouldn't forget that, though we may be "above" the animals, we're still of the animals.
{And ,as for being "humane" about things; anything we DO is humane because we are humans. Of course it won't always be sunshine and flowers but that's cus it can't be.}

Sure, I'll wear furs and eat meat. Then again I'll eat fruits and like seeing the development of faux furs and how convincing they're getting. I think wasting our animals is crap and that we should use every part of them to the fullest extent, but that we shouldn't abuse the source.

Life is full of balance. You jus hafta look to see.

Btw, I read in a book about cannibalism that people could/do taste good, it's all in how you cook it . Also that fat people would be the most nutritious, much like with any other meat. It's just socially unacceptible and scientifically ignorant to go around eating people.

And, for the record, it's all about where you get your meat. Not ALL places treat their animals badly before-hand. There are people who think a lot like you, you just hafta look for them. You've got a computer, give it a whirl ;more power to ya.

If you're still unsure about how the animals your meat comes from were treated and can't trust anybody but find yourself unable to partfrom meat all-together, you could always try killing and grilling it yourself. Ted Nugent has a very respectable cookbook on just the topic. He's a real do it yourself hunter who believes strongly in, " if you're gonna kill it, then you grill it". (I love the guy! He's so admirable, and a god of guitar if I might add smile )

Anyhoo, your life is about you and you're given choice for a reason. Just make sure you research your options. There's always something.
