I'm just going to post the odd ones, seeing as they are actually the best.

Starting with:
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939) Jimmy Stewart stars.
Shows in great detail how our government actually works, and the idealist's vision of what it was meant to be.

Ok, i'll do two you would expect:

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

Van Helsing (what can I say? Dracula was cool.)

Xarathos

Alienor Kaze

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom:
I can't believe someone didn't suggest this one yet (maybe it's because everyone's already it?). Anyway, it's one of the best movies all around. Hilarious? Yes. Actiony? Definitely.

Movie you should avoid:
ANY Harry Potter movie. There are some good things about them (some of the actors portray their character really well). Read the book and use your imagination.

It's amazing how similar our taste in movies is!
I heart Tarrintino.
Requiem has been one of my favorites for Ages!
American History X and LOTR as well.
And I go absolutely bonkers for those Miramax movies, especially Dogma!

Just to add a few...
Boiler Room - Givionni Ribinisi, Vin Deisel, Scott Cann, Jamie Kennedy.
Rated: R - strong Language/ Drug Content.
A morally decent college dropout finds himself at conflict with his harsh federal judge father. He gets a job as a stock broker and gets on the fast track to success. Only things take a turn for the worst when he learns that his job isn't what's it cracked up to be.

Suicide Kings - Christopher Walken, Denis Leary, Sean Patrick Flannery, Jay Mohr
Rating: R - strong language/ drug use/ nudity
Ex-mob boss Christopher Walken is kidnapped by a group of four kids in a haphazard attempt at paying the ransom for another, separate kidnapping. Complexities arise as the group cannot seem to do anything right.

Boondock Saints -Willem Dafoe, Sean Patrick Flannery, Norman Reedus, David Della Rocca
Rating R: strong language/ violence/ sexual content
Two Irish brothers accidentally killed mafia thugs. They turned themselves in and were released as heroes. They then see it as a calling by God and started knocking off mafia gang members one by one. Willem Dafoe plays the detective trying to figure out the killings, but the closer he was to catching the Irish brothers, the more he thinks the brothers are doing the right thing.

I'm not sure what I'd recommend specifically, but I only buy DVDs of my favorites, so a short list of what's lying around the room:
Miss Congeniality
The Matrix
Pitch Black & The Chronicles of Riddick
Emma
I Robot
Enemy of the State

I'm not sure if it counts, but the first season of Veronica Mars.
