Kavrus immediately fell into place and took a position near Jance. Loading his crossbow and checking the quiver of bolts at his side as he walked he began to speak.
"Kavrus Matthia, I'm new to the military Sir. I'm a specialist in tactical notification. I can brighten the battlefield if you wish to highlight certain targets, send a message on the wind if I need to let you know something and I'm not next to you, make an area or target rather slick, protect a few people from evil, and I'm pretty sure my patron would give us his blessing if I asked. Surely our lot in life was not to just die here."
Tapping his crossbow he indicated the bolt.
"I can only brighten objects that I can touch but I can fire a bolt which, unless it fully embeds itself in something, will brighten a large area. I can also, with one spell in my repertoire, make one very accurate shot if you need me to. I can make one flash of light as a signal or make four individually colored lights. If you need me to signal I can do so for a minute with those lights. Make a sequence of lights to order troops. If the green goes up it's one signal, if red goes up it's another. If you have tactics and need a way to get them to the troops I'm your mage."

She listens closely to the names and specialties of the others. Well I suppose it wouldn't hurt to tell them about me, they will all be dead or long gone. she giggled to herself.
Daya Roke, I work well as a scout or assassin. I even know a bit about poisons.
Her lips curve with an ample and insidious smile as her vast childish sapphire eyes unexpectedly dance with a spark of malicious delight and satisfaction for her vocation.

Nolan's eye twitched for half a second as Daya named her profession, and at the odd light that danced in her eye as she stated it. May Pelor guide me to safety... Kavrus and Amari seem well enough, I suppose... I just hope that Daya will not abandon us if things get... sporty.

She glances up towards Nolan with a soft smile. The glimmer of pleasant thoughts involving her work still twinkling like starlight in her crystal blue eyes. She even seems a bit calmer now than her normally rushed or nervous self. Daya continues to think of past jobs as she takes her place among the others heading out towards battle; unaware of her eye contact with Nolan.

I cannot worry about this now. I must focus on what lies ahead. What happens now is in the hands of Pelor. Breaking eye contact, Nolan faces towards the front.

((I am but we can only do so much on the short hike to our post. If we keep chatting it up and playing our characters while waiting for the leaders to show up we might end up walking halfway into the enemy formation. sweatdrop ))
Adding a thought to the end of his earlier acknowledgment Kavrus kept in step. "Perhaps we should also choose the order of succession Sir. In case a leader falls so we know who to listen to next. If either you or Daya were to fall in battle, or both, we should know the chain of command so nobody loses their cool."

Nolan glanced at Kavrus when he made that statement. A sound idea. But who would be best suited? Never mind that now, though. More important things lie ahead.

The party made it to the lines, half of barracks one was already lined infront of the door. Men were shifting into place as quickly and quietly as possible. A sergent hushed some conversation as he joined his group, the makeshift seige engine was being lugged into a place behind the doors.
An officer stood on a stool in front of the army, he was jovial looking, with a thick beard and a bear gut. He opened his mouth,
(Listen checks everyone.))
