Perhaps coming through with too much exuberance had been a mistake, as when Invenirth dove in formation, his wings struggled to keep up, and hadn't been mindful of the patch he'd unfortunately been blown into. The searing pain hurt, only put out by the quick trip between.
Wheeling, flaming, catching thermals, fighting wind.... Threadfall is nothing if not exhausting. Greens, and blues find themselves panting with exhaustion. This is more tiring than they thought. Trying to come up from a dive, they struggle on wing and wind up getting blown right into some thread. Ouch! [+1 Stamina, Moderate Damage -4 HP ]
Still reflecting on Broleith's cool save, Garganth wasn't paying attention... and chomped hard enough on his tongue to make even M'lus jerk in his straps. Gar...
If dragon's eyes could water, they would be, and the enormous bronze offered up a meek apology. It hurt!

Encouragement Boon! - Blue Invenirth
Invenirth turned, spying one of his wingmates having a rough time of it. He'd seen how the fall had been going so far, on the ground watching dragons pop in and out. Yet the little blue shifted closer to Garganth, warbling sweetly as he looked over the much larger dragon. It will be okay! You've done so well so far, we've only a bit more Fall to go! His cheery message was sent with a small ray of warmth, much like the rays of warmth from a hot summer day, before he wheeled to flame another clump down. Invenirth believed in him!

Oh? Oh. Garganth was wide-eyed as the blue swept closer, effortlessly charring some pesky Thread to mere cinders. He'd done well? Someone else besides M'lus thought so? Emotion welled up in his broad chest, and Garganth was rumbling so loudly that M'lus could feel it through his body. Um. Yes! I won't stop! Um. Thanks!
M'lus mentally lifted his eyes to the sky at his dragon's flustered response... but made a note to also thank this rider when Fall was done.

Boy. So many nice blues... and in his Wing! No wonder Hrimnith was so nice to him. Blues were just... nice! Garganth realized this was a thing that was Absolutely True, with no exceptions.

Thread falls, and a sneaky strand winds up chewing on your wingsail. You pop Between to ease the pain, and come out flaming. It hurts, but it's small tubers compared to what it could have been! +1 Pain Resilience]
Eo'ryn and Taeslith both itched to get into the sky; surprisingly, it was not the dragon who was most eager to fight this foe. Eo'ryn yearned to protect her weyr in the way she was meant to. More than just her weyr--all of Pern! As the green and her rider took their place in formation, mid-altitude, the wave they'd been assigned, a tiny bit of thread, barely noticable on the wind, stung Taeslith's tender wingsail. The cool nothingness of between stopped the score, and they emerged, forgetting the pain quickly.

Flaming down Thread, you find yourself getting blown right into the cloud of ash! It stings and burns, but you're pretty sure no Thread was alive in the cloud. [If a green, or blue take Moderate Damage -5HP but gain +2 Pain Resistance.][If a brown or bronze, take Minor Damage -2 Damage but gain +1 Pain Resistance.]
Taeslith grew a bit more confident in the air as she scorched a patch of thread. Suddenly, though, the wind picked up, bowling poor Taeslith and her rider into the ash cloud. There was nothing left alive within it, but the ashes burnt hide, skin, and cloth alike. After emerging, the pair was battered, but still in one piece. They could take another hit.
The wind is fierce and fighting you. Greens, and blues will struggle against it, trying valiantly to keep in formation! [+1 Stamina] Browns and Bronzes can feel the strain, but it's nothing they can't seem to handle. [+3 Stamina]
That wind was wild today, shoving and tugging at Taeslith's wings. She tried her best to stay in formation, but wavered. In the end, she stayed strong, but her small size didn't do her any favors. Still, she kept an eye out for thread.
A patch falls down ahead. You dive down, flaming as you go, and both rider and dragon are pleased to watch it turn into harmless ash. This is how it gets done!
A tangle of thread tumbled through the air, just in front of Taeslith and Eo'ryn. Easy. They lowered, diving towards it, as a stream of fire burst forth from Taeslith's maw. Thread...meet your doom!

Taeslith was starting to tire from these strong maneuvers and incredible feats of fire. They weren't even close to halfway done, but she felt suddenly exhausted, overexertion being something she was suddenly too familiar with. Maybe she'd try to take it easy for a few wingbeats? She dove down, regardless, to do her duty and flame a patch of thread, but as she pulled up, the wind pushed her into a patch of thread. A blink between, and the damage wasn't as bad as it could have been, but it still stung.
Even though they'd been doing it for Turns now, this was always hard for Iafri, and being in second wave always made it worse: all that waiting and dread, watching injured dragons and riders return to the Weyr, sometimes even carried. Girofleth kept her steady, though, and they were ready when it was time...but mistakes did happen, and the green soon bit her tongue. Ah. A silly thing, but oh well. What was done was done.

The pain in her tongue was a faint annoyance, but one that she could put out of her mind easily enough. It was only a very small discomfort, especially compared to what others had suffered thus far. She crooned gentle encouragement to one of their wingmates.

It was early yet, but so far...well, they were doing their job, and well. Girofleth dived after a falling patch of Thread and flamed it down, and each success buoyed her worried rider a bit.

Iafri and Green Girofleth (Second Wave) 4/5
As small and delicate as she was, and with comparatively large wings, such strong winds could be difficult for Girofleth, and she was soon blown right into the cloud of ash she'd just created. And Faranth was it still burning hot!
