wakusei Sanzoskitsune it was possible you were oblivious Alantie but then... I don't remember any either.... We were stuck with Hanson, and a younger Brittany Spears and Christina Aguilera. Oh, and other boy bands like Backstreet Boys and N'Sync. None of them did that whole "let's have a singing career AND act" though. That appears to be a more recent craze.
I remember them, but they weren't hyped nearly as much, and they weren't targeting young girls between the ages of 6-12 with them. They were more aiming for 13 up with those groups. I was about 13/14 when N'Sync and Backstreet Boys started becoming popular, so I remember that pretty well. It might be it- they were mainly focusing on singing, not acting. With kids like Miley, Hilary, and Lindsay, they're trying to do both, and catering to a young crowd.

I'll accept that one, Sanzo. wink
@Mist — That's why I tend to limit my comments about them. I was just excited to see signs of Hilary acting like a woman instead of a girl. biggrin
RE: Miley's Photoshoot — Annie Liebovitz would have found a way to get a picture like that regardless of active participation on the part of Miley. And she carries too much clout as a photographer to not get the photo published. I didn't even think the photo was that bad... >.> Actually, the news hullabaloo about it probably exposed more young girls to the photo than the actual printing of it. rolleyes
Anyway, I have a pizza that's getting cold and a copy of Death Race (starring Jason Strafe-em). Be well, all.

@Waku Libby Luu is this horrid store that is all pink and frilly and has make up for little girls, I hate it with a passion and I mean the kind of look, not fanaticism sorry that wasn't clear sweatdrop
@Alantie, the fans of those groups were rather annoying too... well the crazy fanatics anyway some were rational.

Bye, Tsuji! And yeah, the media on the picture made EVERYONE know about it. As opposed to if they hadn't said anything....
@ Sanzo - Aa, I've never seen that store before. Doubt I'd have a problem with it, though. I've never seen being "girly" as being anti-feminist. People'll dress how they like to one way or another. I hate overalls and spandex, but people still wear them...not much I can do about it... whee

The thing with the pics though wasn't so much that the pic was bad- she's a pretty girl and it was a good artistic capture-, it was more due to her age, and the fact that she's spotlighted as being an idol for younger girls, and they don't want kids getting the idea that it's ok to take pics like that when they're that young. I just think personally she's a bit young to be taking those kind of pics- she's what, barely fifteen I think? It's just something I think that should be left off until she's older. *shrugs* But that's just my opinion.
@Tsuji: blaugh Well, I can understand, lol. So it's all good. Goodnight! Enjoy your pizza!
@Sanzo: I don't remember it being so bad for them- N'Sync and Backstreet were pretty popular, but it wasn't the same kind of hype if that makes any sense. I guess it has something to do with the target audience really.

Oh no I'm not saying its anti-feminist or anything, I personally just really dislike girly things.... and the biggest reason I hate that store is cause it teaches girls in elementary how to put on make-up, they really don't need that, they're still kids.
I get what you're saying Alantie, what they aim and what they're target audience matters a lot.

It should be illegal for girls under a certain age to buy and wear make-up... gonk
I guess teens may be grown-up enough to not be so insane, maybe? Moreso than those 12 and under? I only remember watching cartoons and such under 12. I don't think I really gave a hoot about celebrities of any kind. 'Course I still don't.... I can recall some crazy boy band fans, though.
EDIT: 'Night, Alantie!

exactly why I have a huge problem with that store, if it only had pink and frilly clothing for girls I'd just find it slightly annoying but it wouldn't be so bad, its the make up part that kills me and makes me want to set it on fire.
I think ANY fan group has got at least a small percentage of fans that are annoying and crazy as all hell... those are the ones that usually need to get lives.

I think a lot of things are getting way too much publicity these days TWILIGHT.
I can't find the appeal to vampires who sparkle in the sun.

Silver Hellsing I think a lot of things are getting way too much publicity these days TWILIGHT.
I can't find the appeal to vampires who sparkle in the sun. I found the Twilight books entertaining...but to what I feel is a sane, normal amount that the books more or less deserve. It is very overrated somehow, though. And does not depict a girl who is a good role model for teen girls or a good relationship to want for oneself either. That's where I don't see the appeal or any cause for the hype.
