Quote:
You know your Wing, and are confident in their abilities. Part of being Wingleader or Wingsecond is caring for those you fight with! Every dragon has his or her place, as well as their strengths and weaknesses. Thankfully, you notice when someone is struggling! You call out, encouraging them to fight through the pain, the hurt, the exhaustion, and assuring them of their greatness. Quote a Wingmate and nullify any negative Status Effect immediately. If no negative status effects are in play, you may nullify a Wingmates damage instead!

Shaking the pain of the Threadscore off, Gareth and A'dras surveyed their troops, looking out over them and checking over them, to see how they were doing. It seemed everyone was holding their own and A'dras was very proud of how T'at was managing everything. There was a reason he had chosen him for his Wingsecond, even though they had not gotten along very well in the beginning.

Seeing one of their wing struggling Gareth reached out with a confident and reassuring feeling towards them. Do not falter! You are doing wonderfully this day and we must continue on.

---------------------------------------------------------

Round 1
Rolls 1-5
[1]The wind picks up, and you fight to keep in formation. Your wings strain, but you're able to keep your place! Though your muscles ache, you're not going to give up so easily. Pern depends on you! +2 Stamina
[2] You take a direct hit from Thread! The question is, where!? Roll a D4. D4: Thread hits your leg and side, as well as your dragon's back and shoulders. Though you immediately jump between, some of the Thread is partially protected by your riding gear. As you return from its cold, and continue on the fight, it takes a moment to realize the wriggling Thread has eaten through your clothes, and is starting to burrow into you!!! GET BACK BETWEEN AND BACK TO THE WEYR TO BE DUCKED! Major Damage: -12 HP Your next post must be with the healers so you can get ducked into the pools, in hopes of drowning the borrowing Thread. Death is also an option
[3]The healer looks at your wound and gives a shake of their head. The prognosis doesn't look good, but they're determined to patch you up as best they can! Return Request Denied! Regain +5 HP but re-roll from the Healers Grid! You still haven't been given clearance to return
[4]The healer looks at your wound and starts trying to patch you up. They're not being particularly gentle on you, but you can tell they're quite invested in making sure your wound (or your dragons) heals right! Unfortunately, that's going to take some time. Return Request Denied! Regain +5 HP but re-roll from the Healers Grid! You still haven't been given clearance to return!
[5]5-7. The healer looks at your wound and starts trying to patch you up.

Wingleader Chance Rolls
[1]5-7. If a Wingleader, you were so focused on chewing out one of your wingriders who pulled a stupid move, that you actually miss catching a large clump of Thread that's falling right past you. A nearby wingmate winds up taking the hit -- as they were busy flaming a different clump of Thread and hadn't time to notice. Quote a Single Wingmate and have them lose -5 HP!
    [2]

Rolls 6-10
[6]This is such a mess! Thread is everywhere. The High Altitude Wing is always in the thick of it, and today is no exception.
If you are a bronze, brown, or blue 30' or larger you find yourself getting hit by the wildly blown Thread! Moderate Damage: -6 HP!

"All right, Zeath?" M'aze asked, rubbing his neck with his hand with a grimace. That would leave a mark for sure. Reaching for some firestone, he figured a little refresher might get them back on track. Unfortunately Zeath bit down right on his tongue, snarling in pain. They just couldn't catch a break, it seemed.

Still snarling in pain, Zeath spat out the rest of the stone, his tongue lolling from his mouth. M'aze's own tongue ached from the shared connection, the pain completely distracting. This was a tough round of fighting between the constant Thread making it through the wings and the winds buffeting the dragons back and forth.

Once the wind wasn't blowing against them, Brieteth's small body easily be-bopped about the wind, flaming eagerly as his dear E'mel instructed him. Though there did seem to be a little hub-bub with their Wingleader. Was something going on?

Focus, remember! E'mel reminded as Brieteth sharply refocused himself to continue twisting in and out of his fellow blues and greens to flame the thread in front of him!

Z'tir took control of his dragon with a firm mental grip. Not today, Siloth. Focus. When the next clump of thread came for them, they were ready! It could not outmatch Pern's finest, and Siloth flamed splendidly as the strands turned into ash. Yes, this was what it was to be a rider of High Reaches Weyr!

You don't have any burns, right? Neiveth asked as the two popped from between, having hopped to keep from being flamed by a wingmate. I'm fine, dear. That strand of thread right there isn't, though.

Neiveth's eyes whirled red as she looked at the offender. Oh! How dare! This was her and her G'lin's spot, not it's! As if putting it in it's place, the green flamed it, before flying forward with her beloved. Hmph! It could have hurt her prince!

They were back in the thick of things soon enough, a little distracted but still well aware of their surroundings. It was H'win who noticed it first—the clump of thread falling directly toward one of their wingmates. Suuth sent an urgent warning to the pair, coaxing them a little to the left... perfect. H'win gave his dragon a mental thumbs up as they sped away. Suuth's tongue might have still been throbbing a little, but it hadn't prevented them from carrying out their good deed for the day.

17. As you fly, you find that you're getting into a heavier patch of Thread ahead. You've got a bad feeling about this.... You warn one of your wingmates to let a patch go! Thankfully, they listen, and sure enough, the wind changes! It would have blown the pair right into the patch. As it stands, the wind blows the Thread back, and your wingmate are able to flame it down without injury. [+2 Instinct - no effect]

[2/5]

Dormith had a nice offending burn mark in the middle of his massive back that the bronze found himself mentally needing at in it's newness. It certainly would not be the first mark to score his hide, but it ached just right. And as the winds changed, Dormith carefully moved between the wings of his companions, like a shark through a school of fish - not disturbing them, and not touching any of them.

But the shout of 'Look out!' came too late and W'dre turned to look up - just for a large clump of the silvery stuff to land on his shoulder!

He didn't even need to alert the bronze as he lept between to free his rider from it. And for a moment, as they emerged, everything seemed to be fine. But that burn on his back was bothering him...it...hurt! IT HURT! Dormith quickly realized the pain he felt was through his tether.

I'm taking my rider back to the Weyr! He's been hit! the large dragon informed Gareth before blinking away. His landing back in the Bowl would not be gentle.

Do your worst, healer-weyrling. I trust you, and will not pull away. The dragon spoke directly to Dr'stan, with the confidence of a child. There was no need to doubt.... he was too innocent to worry about things that might or could go wrong. Ultimately, the bronze dragon was, indeed, biddable. He allowed the healer to touch his face, to look him over, and to clean his wounds with extreme patience. Though the dragon periodically flinched, or grit his teeth in pain, he stood still. Only the faintest trembling of his wings belied the stress, fear, and pain....

"There, there," S'del murmured, still leaned against his dragons neck, trying to pour all the love in his heart into his beloved bronze. "You're doing so well. We'll be back up in the air in no time." He wasn't going to talk to Dr'stan, or interrupt the dragonhealers work. Though he recognized him as one of the weyrlings, he had also known him as a weyr healer, first. He trusted the green rider to know what he was doing, so he focused, instead, on Kindeth.

A'yes presence was noted, certainly -- and perhaps later he'd feel bad for his poor response to his hurt bronze -- but right now, all he could do was try to help keep his bronze calm. and, in turn, calm himself.

You are kind, little green. I suppose it is better the Thread get me than my wingmates, or those who are counting on us. It is very windy up there, but I shall do better next time. He stated, a bit more cheerfully. Your rider is a good healer-weyrling. He has nice hands that take away the pain. Or maybe that was the numbweed. Well, either way, it didn't matter. Kindeth was feeling a little bit better, even if his eye felt funny.

Oyath! I see you here. Is Yours all right, because I think mine is a little shaken. Nice to have visitors, though. The weather is much nicer here than up there. He stated with growing good cheer. With his pain dampened, the bronze's usual good cheer was returning in droves.

TORNADO WING
V’kenti of bronze Takarath [Wingleader]

HP: 38/41
Status Effect: Tongue Bitten Effect! [1/3]
XP: [+1 Target Accuracy] | [+1 Instinct] |
Target Accuracy: 7
Flame Length: 6
General Stamina: 7
General Agility: 6
Between Accuracy: 7
Pain Resilience: 7
Instinct: 7
Luck: 6

There had been a bit of a break in the falling thread, the upper wings must have really been paying attention and flaming effectively. So in the midst of a discussion about the health of their wing between V'kenti and Takarath, a clump of thread slipped past them. Taka craned his neck to see if he could catch it but there was too much danger of flaming Alucarth or Mharlith. He wasn't even fast enough to issue a warning to Razastih of the incoming clump the wingleaders had missed. We'll work harder and let our seconds do their jobs. Its why they had them and why V'kenti had chosen the two that he had, he needed to start trusting them fully so he wouldn't have things like this come up.

Round 1 Day 2=1

[Roll 1/5]
    16. You appear from Between only to find yourself in the perfect spot to catch a sliver of Thread. You successfully flame it down easily. [+1 Target Accuracy]

[Roll 2/5]
    8. Your dragon dives for a strand of thread that has fallen through the upper wings. Right before they belch forth their flame, they suddenly jerk hard to the right, almost in a roll, and quite unexpectedly. Sure enough, a gust of wind would have whipped the thread back in their face! Instead, the strand whips by, and your dragon is able to successfully flame it. [+1 Instinct]

[Roll 3/5]
    6. A strong gust of wind suddenly pushes you off course and right into a sliver of Thread! If you're a bronze or brown, you or your dragon take a scathing hit, unable to get out of the way. [Minor Damage -3 HP] If you're a blue or green, you wind up twisting easily out of the way, flaming it down successfully! [+1 Stamina]

[Roll 4/5]
    1. Ouch! Feeding your dragon some firestone has resulted in them biting their tongue! This is going to distract your dragon for the next three rolls. Their flaming aim will go down, and they might be slower to dodge out of Thread's way. [Tongue Bitten Effect! Your dragon is distracted by pain. No XP will be earned for the next 3 rolls. Any successes will be nullified. Should you roll a prompt with the possibility of damage, take the max damage allotted for your size/color automatically but it will also end the Tongue Bitten Effect immediately.]

[Roll 5/5]
    16. You appear from Between only to find yourself in the perfect spot to catch a sliver of Thread. You successfully flame it down easily. [+1 Target Accuracy]

[Wingleader Roll 1]
14-16. If Wingleader you actually are on top of things today! You're here to look out for your wingmates and your seconds, and in this case, you manage to do both! Quote one your Wingseconds, or Wingrider and nullify any negative effects & negative HP from their most recent roll! This can include Wingleader/Wingsecond rolls! If Wingsecond you find yourself panicking. In a rough moment, you witness a catastrophe about to go down! Do you save one from Thread about to hit them, warn another they're flying directly into another's flame!? Who do you save!? Quote a Single Wingmate and have them lose -5 HP!

Round 1 Day 2
[Roll 1]

[Roll 2]

[Roll 3]

[Roll 4]

[Roll 5]

[Wingleader Roll 2]
5-7. If a Wingsecond you actually are on top of things today! You're here to look out for your wingmates and your Wingleader, and in this case, you manage to do both! Quote your Wingleader, fellow Wingsecond, or Wingrider and nullify any negative effects & negative HP from their most recent roll! This can include Wingleader/Wingsecond rolls!

The area certainly was clear where Cordrath was. Part of him did complain - he and M'nr were here to help and they were leaving very little for the two of them to do up there!
