Oh, you mean a prerelease. (Magic does that to, also releases a holofoil card that can only be obtained through the prerelease.)
We have prereleases, but we also have drafts, which are tournaments.
Of course, we also have the World Tournament, where the top 64 players in World get $215,600 which, isn't a bad prize considering the plane tickets are paid for by the previous two tournaments necessary to get to World.

we also goet halo cards in sneek previews. and have world tounaments though i still not sure how one would be held since not every one knows japanoze and the japenize usuall;y have diffent cards.

Oh, holo cards.
I don't think those really count, since you've got a lot of different rares, and a lot of them are foils.
Yes, the japanese would have better cards, they'd be a few packs ahead of you. magic is set in Cali, so everyone get's their cards at the same time as the US.
