spaceCallum arrived at the Station to pick up the new batch of first years for their journey to the school. As always, he made note of his physical presence, trying to present an aura of approachable and kind, while still looking like someone you wouldn't want to make angry. Children, after all, could be troublemakers, and he wanted to be sure that none of them thought to cause problems for him. But, at the same time, they were just kids. He didn't want to scare them. People tended to be afraid of him, and it was no one's fault but his own. Still, he had a job to do. Magically amplifying his voice, he called out, "Attention! First year students! Make your way over towards me, please, so that we can start heading to the castle!"
spaceAs the small group began to form around him, he smiled. "Evening! My name is Callum Murdoch, I'll be escorting you to Hogwarts Castle. Everyone needs to stay close to me. You'll have plenty of time to explore the castle and grounds," which did not include the village, obviously, but he didn't figure it'd do him any favors to mention that, "once the school year is underway. For now, you need to stick with me so we can get you sorted and fed." Hopefully, the lure of food would keep them from acting up. A few kids had tried to sneak off here and there, and he wasn't keen on chasing down an eleven year old. He'd like to keep his job, thanks.

✦✧WREN ADRIEL WINCHESTERsecond year || Slytherin || pureblood _______________ Wren was rather excited to be going back to school. His mother had subjected him to the usual homeschool routine the moment he was back. However, Eliana had resumed her librarian post and now assigned his square of a cousin to tutoring him for the summer. The two and a half weeks August had spent with his own grandparents in Scarborough were the only real vacation Wren had. And as if August wasn’t insufferable enough, Professor Hill had thought to award August with a Perfect badge, which, Wren noted with an eye roll, was already prominently displayed on his suit jacket. Ugh. How stuffy could one person be before they exploded?
He’d had an uneventful train ride with Moira, and had been content to do mock tarot readings for insight on their various classmates. That had been fun, and he was looking forward to poking a few minions. Unfortunately, they couldn’t grab a carriage to just themselves. He greeted the other people in the carriage with a nod and scooped Dunce up before she could go begging other people for food.
The carriage lurched to a move and Wren glared outside. If they were going to have self-driving carriages, couldn’t they be a little smoother at least? Or faster? He glanced at their company in the carriage and, remembering that Yukon’s first day of flying, smirked a little with an idea. ”Why don’t they just have all the older students fly over to the castle? We were already forced to do a year of flying anyways. Wouldn’t that be fun, Yukon?”
Wren had actually quite liked Flying class after awhile. He wasn’t as sappy as Sonora about wind through her feathers or freedom in the sunlight, but it was nice to be alone up in the air, and flying was better than walking. Yukon Knolle, if he recalled, had started out wanting to stay firmly on the ground. Now Wren didn’t consider himself very close to the Potato Boy, but he did make a point in staying...informed, and had noticed that Yukon was…well, quite a decent flier by the end of the year. Whether this changed Yukon’s perspective on staying firmly in the earth, enough to take Advanced Flying or Quidditch perhaps, was what interested Wren now.

Talbot was not a happy camper coming back to school. Not only did he have to buy new books for the new school year, but he'd had to move to a tiny flat in Nottingham because his cousin had lost the one thing Talbot still had left from his family. To say that he was pissed was an understatement. Terry was supposed to be the person that was supposed to take care of him until he got older. He wasn't supposed to leave Talbot in debt! Honestly, being back at school meant that Talbot could take his time and try and figure out a solution before he ended up living out of a cardboard box. All because Terry had some harebrained scheme. He just had no idea how in the world he was supposed to do anything. He wouldn't become a legal adult in the wizarding world until he turned seventeen, and that was four years away.
He flipped his red hair from his face and huffed. It had refused to change back, and he missed his own black. It was bad enough that he could hardly change it any other time, but now all he ever saw when he looked in the mirror was red. Stupid Terry. Stupid scheme. He'd almost curse his own parents, but he doubted they knew anything of what was going on. His own mum's family was distant at best, and he doubted they'd be any help, if he could find them at all. His dad's family was where Terry came from, and Terry had been a distant cousin when Sherrod passed. He wished he could talk to anyone regarding it, but he was loathe to admit that he was in the situation to begin with. Sighing, he regarded the platform, figuring he could try and find Shawna or something to ride up to the castle with him. Maybe it'd get his mind off of everything going wrong.

Aunt Elysia would kiss her farewell and then she and Daddy would floo to London. They’d pick up egg rolls at Wok and Roll, then head to Kings Cross to meet up with Rhea and Brook’s families.
Well, first of all Wok and Roll was closed on Sundays, and then her mother had decided to stop by for another surprise visit. Celestina’s first surprise visit earlier that summer had...gone okay, considering the last time Aidene had seen her was four years ago, and the last time they had really spoken was eight years ago. Aidene didn’t really care, but it seemed she was doing better, so that was good. Her mother hadn’t pointed her wand at her this time, in any case. But that didn’t mean she could randomly show up again on the first day of school and decide to be part of Aidene’s life again. Daddy and Aunt Elysia seemed to think the same thing, so while the adults argued it out, Aidene had been sent to her friends’ houses. Which was fine, it was just not how she’d wanted it to go and Aidene had spent half the morning whining to her friends. In retrospect, that probably wasn’t the best way to behave.
But that was all 640 kilometers away now. Aidene was about to climb into a carriage with her friends when she spotted a familiar figure huffing to himself. Well, that was no way to start the school year. Aidene jumped down and grabbed her classmate and fellow Quidditch player by the arm. ”Hello fellow Reserve beater! Today’s your lucky day, you’re riding with us.”
Once in the carriage, she squinted across the aisle. She’d probably had a conversation with Talbot before-- Quidditch, no doubt. She’d talk to anyone about beater things. Or food. Or dressmaking. Or martial arts. Or Demelza Howe.
”We were just talking about our summers and plans for the new year. I finally got my orange belt, and am taking wandless this year, so I’m going straight to Professor Cohen at the Welcome Feast and going to start a Martial Arts club.”

Yukon Knolle Hufflepuff Second Year ▬▬"Hey look! There's a potato with a backpack!"▬▬ Yukon was excited to go back to school, last year was wonderful with all the activities! Daily Drago writing, making friends with Eion, and FLYING. Who knew that having your feet off the ground would actually be fun? When he got into a carriage, he was put in with Wren, a fellow second year. "I would love to fly to the school, that would be grand! It'd be a great practice for flying in less than ideal conditions, the dark." He thought about why they didn't fly to the castle, since they all knew how. He frowned, "I guess, well not everyone would bring their own. Then they don't have enough school brooms for every student to be on one at the same time. Maybe just the ones who bring brooms could use them at least. That would be great." He paused and decided to continue talking to Wren, "Actually, I'll be taking advanced flying this year, as well as trying out for the quidditch team. I don't know how I lived so long without flying in my life."▬▬"I hope that potato has a good day at school."▬▬ ╔══════════════╗ Where & Who: Carriage with Wren Thinking about: Flying, Can't wait! ✦✧WREN ADRIEL WINCHESTERsecond year || Slytherin || pureblood _______________ Wren raised an eyebrow at Yukon’s enthused answer. Well, apparently his attitude on flying had changed quite entirely. Fickle. He didn’t really care about the Potato Boy’s speculations for why flying across the lake wasn’t a thing. "It's not that expensive to buy a broom. I figure it was just so we didn’t ruin the night skyline for the firsties,” he muttered. He might have gotten a nice broom for himself that summer, but that was a nice broom. Why, they same day he'd gone there was a 3-seater broom for only 12 galleons!
”Both, huh. I heard Hufflepuff’s looking for young tots again to stuff their reserve bench. You eyeing a particular position?” Wren asked casually. Quidditch, huh. Wren hadn’t signed up for Advanced Flying, but he was being forced to join some activity this year. Quidditch didn’t sound as fun as Cooking Club, but Cooking Club met on a weekend morning. Also there was no guarantee that cooking club cooking would be any good. So Potato Boy, why that Quidditch position?

Yukon Knolle Hufflepuff Second Year ▬▬"Hey look! There's a potato with a backpack!"▬▬ Yukon rolled his eyes at Wren, maybe it wasn't expensive for one person family, but with him and his two siblings, three brooms would be quite a lump of change for the Knolle Clump. He wouldn't argue with the Slytherin though, he probably came from money and never had to worry over where your next meal was coming from. Although, Yukon could talk about quidditch, "I was thinking Keeper, or maybe Beater? Except I don't know if the spots are going to really be open any time soon. I'm good at flying, but I don't have the experience of being on the team, ya know? It'll be fine though, it would be nice to have a few more friends in my house, and I could just sit on the bench and watch the actual games. I would be fine with that I think." He grinned goofily at Wren, "So what about you, are you doing quidditch or some other club this year?" He hoped that Wren would be interested in joining some groups, he hadn't seen him around much during the year, just the occasional passing through the hallways and sitting during classes. ▬▬"I hope that potato has a good day at school."▬▬ ╔══════════════╗ Where & Who: Carriage with Wren Thinking about: Flying, Can't wait! ✦✧WREN ADRIEL WINCHESTERsecond year || Slytherin || pureblood _______________ "Keeper sounds good. You just need to float there and dive for the quaffle occasionally," Wren commented. "But beater basically means you get a free pass to hit people. Doesn't that sound fun."
Maybe hitting people would be fun. He didn't have very many people he wanted to hit, but it would be funny to knock a bludger into someone's broom and watch them yelp. He nodded along to Yukon talk about making more friends, and it didn't bother him that he might be warming the reserve bench for a while. Well, dreams of fame didn't seem like the Potato Boy's type anyways. Making friends though? He doubted it was anything that simple. He'd have to check the Hufflepuff roster--Maybe there was someone Yukon fancied on the team and that's what he was after.
"I dunno, Quidditch sounds okay," Wren replied airily before turning the conversation right back around. "What else are you doing?"

You're talkin' to me like a child Hey I've got news, I'm not a little girl And no I won't give you a little twirl You're talkin' to me like I'm sad Hey I've got news, I'm not doin' too badC E L E S T E J O A N S H O I C H E T HALFBLOOD │ UNSORTED │ FIRST YEAR
To say that Cella was not currently thrilled to be here would have been a very dramatic understatement. To be precise (and Merlin knew Cella enjoyed being precise) it wasn't the fact that she was beginning her time at Hogwarts that had her so spectacularly tiffed, nor was it the fact that it was currently a rather cool and chilly September evening on a crowded station platform. No, it was mostly the fact that unlike the vast majority of the students, she hadn't bustled off the train with everyone else- she hadn't even ridden in the train in the first place. Due to her mother working at the school as a professor, Elsie had simply apparated home to get her daughter, then brought her back to Hogsmeade less than thirty minutes ago. After a hushed argument in the station, Cella's admittedly over-protective mum had agreed to leave her be, and gone back to the castle to prepare for the welcoming feast, leaving her daughter more or less alone.
Now, it wasn't that Cella was so enthused with trains at all, but there was something to be said for routine, and she didn't like standing out in this manner. In reality, the likelihood of anyone really noticing that she'd actually been waiting when the Hogwarts Express had pulled in was very slim, but to an eleven year old it seemed like the very height of mortification. Celeste chewed anxiously on her mint gum, scanning the growing crowd and growing more tense by the second. She was already dressed in her uniform, which she'd immediately despised- she hated black, and she wasn't very fond of these ugly shoes, either- but everyone wearing essentially the same colors was not at all helpful. Popping a small bubble, she shifted from foot to foot, arms tightly crossed against her chest as if to ward off a chill. Knowing Elaina, she'd be one of the first off the train, right? Probably surrounded by all her family. Celeste was hardly all alone herself; she knew she could always try to track down Angus as well, who was likely close by. OOC:((Quoted you because Angus was mentioned, Dia)) Even though sometimes I might get real mad You're talkin' to me like a child But my words are growin' stronger And my legs keep gettin' longer I do a lot of stupid stuff but don't act like you're so tough

Quinn was quite stressed. His parents had convinced him to get on the train and go to school, sure, but they hadn't mentioned he'd be caught by the pink-haired girl from Milo's shop and forced to sit with a bunch of other kids. Luckily, they all seemed decently nice, apart from one of the twins, who was a bit snappy and possessive. Hywel sat comfortably in Q's lap, snuggling in his jacket while the boy nervously fiddled with one of his many fidget toys.
After exactly five hours and 23 minutes, the group was told to get dressed and ready by an older kid. Q, despite his utter distaste for dress-up clothes, dressed in the outfit Milo had picked out, glad that it wasn't itchy or stiff. Only a few moments later, the train pulled to a stop outside a small, quaint little town. He wandered off the train, but of course, had to quickly regret his decision. It was packed! It was so busy he could tell he needed to leave right now. Lucky for Quinn, a very familiar voice called over to him. "Q? Hey, pal, c'mere. Let's go somewhere a bit more quiet, 'kay?" Brennie carefully led his younger cousin a bit away from the crowd, letting the boy relax a bit. "Don't worry, it'll be calmer from here out. There's gonna be boat rides, then a nice stroll... Then it'll be a bit busier, but I'll be there to make sure nothing happens, I promise. So will Lia and everyone else." The Hufflepuff waited until he got a small nod, sighing happily while he kept a careful eye on the boy. Hopefully Lia and Bethany would save him a seat on the carriages...

Finley was really glad that his dad didn't make him ride on the train to school. Instead, the boys had a really nice lunch together and Fin finished packing any last minute things he otherwise would've forgotten. Once time got close, Fin gave his dad a big hug, snuck a cookie from the kitchen, and hurried out the door. As he walked, he nibbled on his snack, preparing for another year at the school. He got to the platform before the train, so he set his trunk and bag where he knew they were all going to be, then he waited. When he saw the train coming, he covered his ears tightly until the rumbling and whistling of the train ceased. When it was all over, students came pouring out, but, since Fin didn't have all too many friends, he waited. Maybe if he saw someone he did know, he'd move to hang out, but alas, it was busy and crowded. He ran a hand through his hair, knowing his dad would sigh if Finley messed up yet another hairdo....

Run little sister, run so fast I see he’s gaining on you Take a breath and make it last The darkwater horizon Smile like you mean it and just Cast the light of hell right out of hereLAUREL NICOLE HILL RAVENCLAW │ HALFBREED │ THIRD YEAR
Laurel knew that technically she was being a bad sister for not hanging around to assuage any potential worries or fears of Willow's. How-ev-er, it wasn't like she was the only big sister in the family, and to be fair, Aspen was really the oldest of them all. So it wasn't as if she'd just abandoned her sister to some uncertain fate. Besides, they were about to separated from all the first years anyways when they were called down to the lake. Right, the boats. Good thing she didn't have to go through that with Aspen again. Sighing to herself, she picked her way through the excited, very loud crowd of students, disgruntled with the noise level and the fact that many of them were just milling around chatting and hugging, not making for the carriages.
From her position on the outskirts of the crowd, she spotted a familiar face, and realized who it was she got closer. Finley was in the year below her in Ravenclaw, and while she didn't think they'd ever really talked before, she certainly knew who he was; his dad ran the hairdresser's here in Hogsmeade, and she was almost positive she'd seen him around over the summer. That meant he hadn't taken the train in either. "Hey," she raised her voice to be heard over the din, waving at the boy. "Finley, right? I'm Laurel, you know."[/color[ Okay, maybe he didn't, but she kind of doubted most people weren't aware that her father was the Herbology professor. He was sort of hard to forget. "At least we didn't spend the last six hours stuck on a bloody train, huh?" No one else can see it, the shape That makes you fall on fallow ground So no more laying down, and no more dragging out It’s the darkhorse you give legs to, no one else can ride In the wake of strange beginnings, we can still stand high

Her dad had thankfully kept it together she supposed one of them had to be but if she also had a few tears fall in the process well that was just her business then. She'd sat with Tristan and promptly got lost in one of her notebooks not caring who came and went from the compartment and only came out her thoughts when the trolley witch came by (buying enough to later share with Cella whom she noticed immediately wasn't on the train) and then later the announcement of their close proximity to the station. She changed into her bleak uniform again wondering which color might soon join it after tonight before exiting with the others and attempting to look above the steadily growing crowd of taller students. Luckily though, she soon recognized her friend blowing bubbles in her gum causing her to giggle as she made her way towards her. "How was the wait, not long was it? It had to be boring just waiting here, your mum has to be daft to not think so. Wait, should I not talk about her like this now that I know she's about to be my professor?" It wasn't like Ella called Elsie out of her name often or really ever but c'mon, it was a bit dumb to make your kid wait around at home all day on the first ever train ride. It made sense if the kid didn't want to, she was sure there were some who lived in Hogsmeade who didn't see the point, but she was pretty sure Cella had not been one of them. "Oh! Before I forget, I got some sweets from the trolley if you want some. Everyone always mentions how long the welcome feast and sorting is so I figured we could put it to good use." the curly haired girl shrugged pulling out a small bag from her backpack. Waking up in the midday sun What's to live for? You could see what I've done Staring at emotion In the light of day I was running from the things that you?d say
