Alya

Chaos! Chaos on the sands! Alya didn't know where to look, her eyes wide and shining as she tried to simultaneously watch all the hatchlings at once! She squeaked as a hatchling still mostly in the egg barreled by, then broke into peals of delighted laughter. Look how excited they all were! So distracted she was that she almost didn't realize the brown hatchling was coming towards them--not until he was affectionately butting his head against Lennik's chest.

Alya only stared for a moment, wide-eyed.... and then stumbled as a wing smacked at her, nearly falling before she caught her balance. She hastily backed up even more, amazed at what she was seeing. "Oh..." She breathed, feeling something almost like... jealousy twist in her chest.

A dragon... a dragon just for Lennik. Well, no one deserved it more! Without thinking, she reached out to snatch Rio and Isilje's hands, squeezing them tight.

Lennik

"Some eggs are! Though I will say that a new one..." he stated with a slightly off laugh. Whoever impressed that baby was going to have to hold on for the ride! With the girls safely out of the way, however, he was able to reassess the sands. It looked like there was a blue making demands (still, how amusing), a green who definitely preferred the girls (it couldn't have gone wrong with Marty, but no, it moved on. Shame), and the brown who had tried to pull the mauled Farellan off the sands earlier.

And now it was walking, with some purpose, towards them. Almost immediately, Lennik removed his arms from Alya and Isilje (Alya, Alya his hand. His hand plz. He needed that), ready to make sure everybody moved out of the way as apparently this dragon was ready to scope out their potential theirs from all of the candidates and well...he wasn't about to get anybody mauled by holding them too close.

In fact, he was trying to enforce his rule about 'keep a dragon unless it's obviously yours at duck-and-cover reach' quite firmly when the darn thing kept coming at him. Then it struck him like a blow to the chest - or rather, his head did. His expression immediately dropped from the laces of concern and candidate etiquette as the voice pushed into his head and he gazed into those rainbow eyes.

My heart, my love, my Lennik.

He had spoken with Eosphoth enough that he'd thought he understood. But the absolute presences that began to twine into him and him into it was nothing like he'd ever dreamed it would be. The thoughts of the dragon edged their way around his, though not carefully, as though finding the gaps where it would fit and in some cases, pushing things around to make room for themselves.

Tear yourself away from these others, and follow your Hessianth for now and for always. Together, we will be unstoppable, and the world will come to know our names.

Understanding crept in as Hessianth's very being settled up against his in so many ways and even without asking, he reached out to draw his fingers over the brown's headknobs, seeking out a spot just below one of them where his head met his neck to rub it gently. The brown craned his head to one side, an appreciative kreel escaping his throat. It was a rather odd spot for a dragon to want to be rubbed, but Lennik had no problems with finding it. He just... knew.

Of course you do. Just as I know. he thrummed, and the pair stood there simply looking into each other for perhaps longer than a pair should have remained on the sands after impression. But he found himself running his other hand over the perfect edges of the brown's head and tracing a finger over the swirling markings on his neck. This neck ridge here, this was it. He rubbed along it and Hessianth leaned his entire neck into it, previously rainbow eyes whirling with a mix of blue and purple. Every inch of Lennik's brain seemed to fire off with waves of absolute emotion that wasn't his.

It was surreal.

No, it is only surreal if I chose poorly. And I know you know I didn't. Even if you are bizarrely dressed. Not as bizarrely as Strigonth's! Have you seen him? Oh, come look with me. the brown didn't give the other candidates so much as another glance as he began to lead the charge back towards the Weyrling's table. Lennik, on the other hand, gave the other three candidates a very confused look.

"Good luck. Hessianth and I will be waiting," he said, voice sort of day-dreamy as he trailed off after the brown. Hessianth paused a few times to consider his still roaming and unimpressed siblings, taking a moment to watch The Mauve Blue and spreading his wings out encouragingly. I think it's starting to work! Keep at it! he said, though there was a private chuckle that Lennik felt for only himself. Lennik couldn't help but chuckle a bit as he was let in on that joke, however.

Oh wait.

L'nik.

Kieza

She was stunned when a dragonet approached the boy she had been helping, its eyes a whirling rainbow. This boy! This boy was chosen! She felt a chill run up her spine as excitement radiated through her. She gripped the boy’s arm a moment longer before releasing it. “Look at you! Now you can fly and de strong! No more tears are needed! I can’t wait to see you flying!” She whispered at Silviu, back up a few steps to allow the boy to properly accept his chosen. A realization was there, this boy was High Reaches... he wouldn’t be returning, and that... oh she couldn’t be sad for that!

But as Kieza turned attention to what was going on around her, she noted more dragonets finding their chosen, and though happiness flowed within her for each of them... a sadness pulled at her. Was her dragonet here? Or would another Hatching leave her feeling not quite whole as her short term friends were pulled away to become dragonriders? Shaking her head sharply, dispelling the sadness, she smiled. If they weren’t here... she was patient.

Locked in a battle of wills, the Cobalt Bronze and the Scarlet Green stared at each other, each pushing and pulling in turn. There was a weight of censure in the Bronze's gaze, and he leaned forward slightly, pressing all the harder.

With a snort of disdain, the Green shook her head, eyes swiftly shifting to an angry red. Just try it, she seemed to say, beginning to walk right toward a group of boys.

The Cobalt Bronze let out a bugle of challenge, but the Green was faster, threading rapidly through the crowd in a ball of sharp, fierce rage! LET SOMEONE JUST TRY! LET THEM TRY... to muzzle her again! She would not yield!

And she was pulling no punches.

Rylyrr

Things were still chaotic and mess as nearly a dozen baby dragons wandered about the sands, searching about. His robe was tacky with inchor from the white and he was some what tired from the adrenaline rush from earlier but still alive and unharmed and just... faintly wondering if he would be left behind again.

He sighed and smiled slightly at the hatching chaos going about. That would be okay, still a turn to go.

Esfir

From where she stood, Esfir was grinning in delight as each new pairing was made. Perhaps on some level she was a little wistfully envious, but that feeling was buried deep under her relief that no one was had been hurt. And even deeper under a sort of extreme cheer. She applauded with each new impression and silently wished everyone the best of luck.

Still, she was a little lonely for a human or two to talk to as they all waited on the dragonets. Glancing around, her eye fell on a tall, dark skinned fellow covered in ichor. Even if he weren't spattered in the blood of a dragon, he'd be very striking.

Moving impulsively, she threaded her way across the sands and around cavorting dragonets to stand beside... Rylyrr? Yes, that was his name, she recalled. Rylyrr.

"It's all very exciting, isn't it?" she offered as a means to break any ice. "Do you think they'll all make their choices soon?"

With shrills of victory, the Scarlet Green absolutely shredded her way through the crowd, marking the male Candidates as her particular targets. HOW DARE HE TRY TO CONTROL HER? No! She would not be tamed, would not be harnessed, not by any man!

In a blaze of glorious fury and purpose, she rolled right into Dezerac, latching onto him with teeth and claws... and shaking him like a wherry that she meant to kill.

And oh, she meant to. She was going to end him.

NO! You will not! Stop. Cease this at once! the Bronze dragonet cried, frantically attempting to come to the Candidate's aid. He shoved his wing between the Scarlet Green and her victim, trying to stop her, trying to shield the other. And screamed in pain as she latched onto him as well, letting all of her rage fuel her attacks.

Esfir

"Ooh, hello." Rylyrr gave a small smile at Esfir, offering a hand. "I don't believe I know your name, I'm Rylyrr and well, yess... and hopeful soon." He looked up and gave a sharp noise at the current mauling. Well, there went the hope that they would have finished with the drawling of blood.

"You could say that, certainly it has been rather hair raising in a few parts," He chuckled and sighed. "I do hope they will."

It seemed as though the little blue had somehow found his, for a big man came barreling onto the sands, staring almost desperately up a the blue perched upon the bronze's head. There were so many hatchlings on the sands now, and the atmosphere had changed now that the two bronzes were safely with theirs. Iathe certainly didn't mind supporting Roana, but wouldn't shame her by coddling her unnecessarily. The girl was strong--and knew her limits, it seemed.

As she watched more Impressions take place, it was the sudden interaction between a bronze and green that caught her eye. Remarkably, the defiant little green pulled away from her much larger brother.... and suddenly savaged a Candidate, looking very much like she intended to snap his neck.

Sucking in a sharp breath, Iathe winced as the bronze tried to put himself between them--and shrieked as she turned her fury on him, instead. "She's not having any of it..."

Esfir

Taking the offered hand with a smile, Esfir bobbed a little curtsy (Momma approved of good manners, after all). Her smile fell as she saw the angry little green trying her best to rend a boy to shreds.

"My name is Esfir," she offered a little shyly. "Do... do baby dragons always act like this?"

She wasn't sure how to explain just how sheltered Momma had kept her. Seeing this sort of violence and bloodshed was alien to the girl. Though, she reminded herself. Not every dragon had hatched with a chip on it's shoulder. Certainly the werewolf had been kind.

~Phayton~

All of a sudden there was a commotion in the midst of the Candidates. Whipping his head around, Phayton saw a green ripping into a boy, and the remaining bronze trying to protect him. The bronze dragonet screamed as the green tore into him instead. "Oh no, not again!" The young man grimaced, watching the fight. His first instinct was to run over and help, but again, that would get him in trouble, and very likely hurt.

Instead, he drew Jailla into his arms again. This fight wasn't too far from where they were standing; what if it roiled away and toward them?

~Ryala~

As the bronzes had finally Impressed, Ryala had thought that the fighting would finally come to an end.

She'd thought wrong.

There just seemed to be so much going on all at once... a blue hatchling trying to get confrontational, a green attacking someone, and then turning on the bronze who tried to stop her... would the madness never end? Granted, not all the hatchlings were bent on mayhem... that green that had hatched from the Wraith egg seemed to be gentle enough. And the Siren green had been lovely. But far too many of the others, it seemed, preferred to fight, or at the least play rough.

Rylyrr

"It is a pleasure to meet you, Esfir," and Rylyrr responded to the curtsy with a courtly bow and a wink of amusement before becoming serious. He looked at the sands and sighed. "It matters."

"Some hatchlings just don't know their own strength or that people are more fragile, they just want to explore or play ... some though are angry because of a variety of things and sometimes they take it out on us." Rylyrr sighed. "Mostly because they took offense to something but at this moment? I'm not sure why she is upset."

Martirae

As the little green both bumped into her and moved on, Martirae nodded slowly. Well, that was definitely not for her, but she could tell the green definitely appreciated the girls a little bit more than the boys. But trailing after it's retreating figure, her attention was drawn across Lennik's group....

and the brown firmly attached to the boy's chest, looking up at him adoringly. A brown for a boy like Lennik - how would he shorten that? L'nik? L'ik? Lenn? She'd have to find out later - seemed fitting and the faintest wisp of envy curled around her heart. They'd stood together for long enough they were practically friends now and now he...he would get to leave her behind.

Of course, there was still a chance this could be the end for both of them and Marty pulled in that envy in her heart into submission. No, even if she walked away from this, she'd be fine. She was always fine. This would be no different for her.

Danzik and Green Eosphoth

My love. You're missing it. Danzik warned the green who was still hiding her face. The warring bronze brothers have impressed - and so has somebody else.

Eosphoth could feel the rush of excitement from her rider and she pulled her face from it's spot tucked underneath Iriseth's and turned her gaze, finally, back out to the sands to peer at what her new baby siblings were up to now that they weren't mauling each other and the candidates. It wasn't difficult to find what had Danzik so excited, however. Eosphoth was quick to find her bonded's son and the brown so attached to him was very hard to miss.

A brown!

Is it his? she asked with a rush of excitement bowling back into Danzik's. Oh! Oh Lennik had waited so long and now he had a little brown! Look at him, Danzikmine! Look! Oh, do you think we'll get to see him soon? Little one! Hello little one! You are mine's son's! Hello! she greeted eagerly.

L'nik and Brown Hessianth

The brown whipped his head around to the stands to peer up at all of the larger dragons at the sudden greeting. Hello! Yes. Yes, my Lennik - oh, he says L'nik now - is quite a good one. Yours did well to make mine. Yes. Tell her thank you! he greeted back and L'nik raised his brows at him. Eosphoth was saying hello. he stated and the young man looked up towards the stands to find both the green and his mother.

There they were, as they always were. L'nik frowned, but the little brown continued the charge to the feeding table and he followed. It wasn't entirely difficult to find where the others had gone and finding a spot was easy enough. Getting a bucket of meat to slice up, he set to cutting up the pieces into easily chewed on pieces. Meanwhile, Hessianth found himself eyeballing several of the other Weyrlings - or rather, their riders - with a certain amusement.

What's so funny?
Strigonth's looks like it lost a fight.
With one of the bronzes, yeah.
Oh. Oh that one. Hm. Maybe the boy should have hit back. It would have done something for his face.

L'nik nudged the brown to pull his attention back up to him to offer him the first bite of food, which Hessianth chomped down gratefully. Oh, he was so ready for actual food.

He did not expect death to be green. Maybe it was a result of being trained at High Reaches, or maybe he'd just never expected a dragon of any color to get ahold of him. Not like that. He'd always done exactly as they were supposed to do, and that combined with what was probably no small amount of luck, he'd never received much more than bumps and bruises here and there. Well, the green was here to make up for that and then some. The Candidate training he'd always followed so well told him to go limp and protect what he ******** that.

Latched onto and shaken violently, ripped and bloodied but nothing broken - yet - there was nothing he could do that would have any effect, but that didn't stop him from trying. He couldn't not fight, not after a life of doing little else. He kicked, hit, grabbed for purchase, but there was almost nothing on a dragonet that he could do damage to with his bare hands, though it wouldn't be for lack of trying.

He scrabbled at her face. If he could get an eye, maybe-

And then the bronze was there, and Dezerac very nearly (maybe did) kicked at him, too.
