Aryale

Aryale was absolutely beaming - not a broad smile, but joy simply radiated from her face anyways as she looked to those who had come closer to join her. Yaguareth stood close, looking between the four with some mix of appraisal and interest. Friend? Foe? The green lifted her head as if sniffing the air, her eyes a muddle of thoughtful colors.

"She's..." like Kiri, Aryale couldn't find the word for it. Yaguareth was so many impossible, perfect things. "Thank you," her voice went soft, threatening tears. Right then, Aryale felt invincible.

The green looked up silently at her bonded, flicking her wings before tucking them back against her sides again and clacking her jaws once. Aryale nodded. "I need to feed her now, but.....I'll save a few spots, okay?" Yaguareth gave Bukichi a particular long, thoughtful stare that almost looked like judgement before falling into step next to Aryale as the two made their way after the others who had already gone to feed.

There would be a pause by the stands as Yaguareth spotted someone, red whirling into her eyes as she kneaded at the ground and mantled her wings. She saw you, Erastan, and she knew what you had done. Aryale nudged her on, walking between the green and the one who drew her ire to break contact.

Yaguareth would be first to greet any of the others . Tecuanith was approached and offered a gentle bump her head, followed by Zhaoruith, though for her it was more a gentle nuzzle. Aryale was close after, looking at both green's riders and trying to place if she at least knew the one who hadn't come from the sands. She wasn't particularly close to Nikal and certainly didn't recognize Dharmisa. Kiri seemed to have taken a place a bit more secluded, however.

Aryale was torn for only a moment before Yaguareth reached out gently to Felisath. Do you want any company, Felisath? best to see if it was an option first.

Nikal - 19, he/him - & Green Tecuanith

“Uh.”

The green inclined her head towards Dsharmira before privately prodding at her new life partner. < Don’t be so awkward. What are you afraid of? And stop slouching. >

I’m not slouching, and I’m NOT scared, Nikal thought in knee-jerk defensiveness, and he batted more slices of meat at her with the flat of the knife. In a perfectly calculated movement, Tecuanith snapped the thickest one from the air and hummed as she chewed, pulling the others in with her claws.

Deep breath. “We have a tight schedule every day except on rest days, and a curfew,” he explained, finally looking up from the cutting board. “Most of the time, you’re taking care of her.” He motioned with the knife to Zhaoruith. “When you’re not, you’re studying. Maps, history, wing formations, everything. No feeling up other people for six months, no booze until graduation.” He looked a little sullen about that last part as he remembered the wine he had sprung for just before Killakeeth had risen. “That’s going to be your whole life for a while. Trust me, it’s going to be hard work.” He’d gotten a secondhand look watching Taiena and Khandjith from afar.

Judging from the sounds outside, at least several more people had impressed. Tecuanith kept an eye on the entrance and ignored how the blood, sand, and ichor was starting to itch her hide, waiting for someone. She nearly rolled them as Damisath and His strode in. < Brother, > she greeted him, the same way any mildly exasperated sibling would. What pretty little words would he prepare for today? Already trying to get cozy with a gold, putting the brown in brown-nosing.

No matter—she saw Yaguareth and immediately brightened. Her beautiful sister had found Hers, whom seemed...alright, she supposed, and perhaps the second luckiest person in Pern next to Nikal. She tried not to look overeager as they butted heads, but Tecuanith’s love was obvious through the early battle grime she still wore like armor. Itchy, slightly irritated armor. < Finally, the day can get started, > she said, stepping aside as Yaguareth went to Zhaoruith next.

But before she could tell her sister to sit with them, Yaguareth’s attention went to another. Tecuanith glanced at the solitary Felisath, who looked content to be so with Hers, and then back to Yaguareth. < Come sit with us, sister, > she said. < Mine was saving your spot for you and Yours. Felisath can join us if she wants. > She wouldn’t at all say no to more company, assuming they didn’t say no to her.

Nikal felt that edge of possession in her voice and tried not to tip the scales either way as he inclined his head in greeting to Aryale. “Grats. Parents probably going crazy, huh?”

Solameya | She/Her | HRW

Solameya chuckled at the thanks and the grateful snoot boop. She slipped back to where she had posted up originally when Killakeeth leaned in to check too. Better to give momma and her babies some room. It seemed to ramp up not long after. Impression after impression after another. Look at them taking care of business! Alright!

Haizea | She/Her | Western

Haizea was so startled and delighted at the rush of all the pairs suddenly made, a small laugh escaped her. How awesome!

Harol | He/Him | Western (Stands)

Harol has looked up just in time for a handful of babies to Impress just about in the exact same moment! Whoa! The Harper frowned down at the paper he had been bullet pointing with highlights. Eh. He wasn’t worried too much. Just noted ‘• Many’ He’d get the complete details later...or tomorrow, so he just made the dot below. There were bronzes, a brown, a green, and two blues left. It seemed the little gals of this brood were more or less to the point, but it just meant that after all the excitement between the warring greens and golds earlier the young fellows had their chance to make their stands.

Vesden | High Reaches | He/Him

That was just about it for the greens, there was just one left looking to impress. Vesden wasn't even sure a bronze would look at him, he wasn't exactly interested in being... involved... with a queen rider. That was unfortunate, there was one he'd really been drawn to but he thought letting himself hope might be unwise. There were blues left on the sands, and that brown boy who seemed displeased with everyone he looked at.

Vesden supposed he might catch the eye of a blue or a brown, but at this point he was expecting to be back on the sands for the next hatching. That was alright, he had turns yet before he'd become ineligible, and there would be more hatchings if this one didn't pan out for him. He should at least wait until all the babies impressed before deciding he'd been left on the sands, but he was overthinking again. What was new?

Vosin/Gold Killakeeth
So many sweet, quick impressions. Vosin was enjoying this to the hilt. There was still a couple of handfuls of dragons running around.

Candidate Omurntas Western
Omurntas calmly watched the slue of impressions; a pale brown, a blue, followed by all but one of the remaining greens. Numbers were dwindling fast out here. He took a deep calming breath, ready to continue waiting it out.

K'bet and Blue Rubiginth

The blue greeted his golden sister as soon as he and His arrived at the feeding tables, but Rubiginth's reply was more of an excited mental brush than any actual words, as his attention was mostly elsewhere. He hadn't needed to ask Korbet to relay the day, he was already doing so!

They settled off to one side by themselves, the dragon finally able to climb into his rider's lap once the man was seated, and they were mostly silent, the occasional honk or "I know, right!?" punctuating their animated flails.

Making his way out across the Sands, the Mystery bronze took note of the clear evidence of battle. Oh dear, I think I must have slept in, he remarked abashedly. For he had had no intention of letting anyone get harmed on his watch! But... there was a particular spot where blood had pooled. A spot that... that perhaps would not have been there if the right claws had intervened.

Eyes gone white, the bronze stopped to place his head beside it. Your sacrifice will not be forgotten, he told the stained sand, flaring his wings grandly. How tragic! A fallen hero, cut down too soon.

Taibb

Taibbi's arm was beginning to tremble with her indecision about touching the outgoing blue. She wasn't supposed to, and she had not been one of the three he had chosen to cozy up to, and so her decision was more or less made for her. Not to mention she'd sort of lost her balance when another dragon strode by on the way to finding their lifemate.

The teenager let her hand drop to her side and found that somehow there was still a dragon snout beneath her palm. For a moment she was horrified that she was going to be in trouble for this, even though it was completely accidental, but then there was a voice in her mind, not the voice of the friendly blue, nor any other dragon she'd heard speak before (which was such a small number she could count them on one hand), but a voice that settled in her heart as the most-right voice ever:

If you want to touch someone, touch me! Your Neuwith will take all the scratches you can give, dearest Taibbi!

At first Taibbi missed the possessive, and had some confusion about why a dragon was introducing herself and suggesting that she receive the scratches instead, but in the moments the green spent assessing Taibbi the candidate realized what had occurred and when Neuwith next spoke, suggesting food and a bath, Taibbi dropped to her knees and threw her arms around the hatchling's shoulders murmuring fervently, "Anything you want."

Neuwith's rainbow eyes settled into a brilliant, happy teal at Taibbi's words and she answered, Food first, but can be we where we can still see the sands? I want to see everything that happens. Oh! And when we have our bath I can tell you about all the candidates who touched me, but who weren't you.

"I bet we can find a spot with a view," Taibbi replied, unaware that she was smiling so widely her face seemed about to split. If such a spot didn't exist naturally, Taibbi would grab a bucket of chops and bring it somewhere where they could see and eat all at once.

Excellent! Let's go! Neuwith insisted, darting off in the direction of her other Impressed siblings, leaving Taibbi trailing after her in something of a daze. She was really going to be a dragonrider!

Kiri
The pace at this table was much more to Felisath's liking. The green dragon leaned against Hers' legs, and for a moment, Kiri fondly stroked her head, her eyeridges, her headknobs and cheeks. The little green would have been content to stay that way, just the two of them, but her hunger and need to eat was growing tenfold by the second. While Felisath seemed to ignore it, Kiri didn't.

"Come now, just a few bites," she murmured.

Felisath's eyes whirled a brighter green-blue, but before she ate, she turned and offered a shy little croon at Kleoth. The gold had sent a kind word to her, and she appreciated that she wasn't trying to force her closer. While her sisters company would never truly be turned down, the anxious green was rather uncomfortable around her brothers--and already, there was a growing number of them. And more to follow, she knew. So, she sent the queen a quiet, but gentle wave of appreciation and gratitude; the welcome had been nice.

Kiri herself wouldn't push... Not hard. Still, the girl knew that there would be no avoiding the boys come morning. While there was absolutely nothing she would change about her darling, Kiri knew that they couldn't stay apart. "You can introduce me to some of your clutchmates later if you'd like," she mused, giving the green dragon the first of the meat. There was a slight spike of nervousness, but the green seemed to fight it.

If that would make you happy. Felisath finally consented. On the one hand, she was torn. Going over would put her in proximity to some of the more boistrous members of her family, not to mention the boys. On the other hand... She also knew Hers had friends, and was of a sociable nature, and staying apart might cause her sisters to reject her.

Kiri sent a wave of love and affection, leaning down so she might plant a kiss on the little ones nose. "We can stay right where we are, too. There'll be time enough." The girl wasn't going to push. If even that was too much for her green in this moment, she'd be content to sit to the side, and focus on feeding her. Who else could be as good as her green?

Time passed--how much, she hardly knew--but the little green delicately ate piece by piece. Suddenly, and with great surprise, the green once more looked up. It felt strange to feel anothers emotions, ones that weren't her own; but it was something Kiri wouldn't know how to cope with if it was gone or taken from her.

Felisath looked first at Yaguareth, and her eyes turned a bright blue-green. There was a swell of surprise, but pleasure quickly followed. Yaguareth. I-- But she stopped, and glanced at Tecuanith, and where she had settled. At the other table, with a bit of a crowd. The little green's bravery already began to falter, and she knew better than to fight with Tecuanith. She hadn't been asked to join, hadn't been invited any sooner, and it was already a crowd. She wilted a little, but was quick to say, ...I would hate to take you away from others who seek your company. She might have been open to another sister joining her, but to face that entire group over at that table?

No. Felisath was still only a little hatchling, and right now, she wasn't able to fake being so brave.

Kiri, of course, noted the feeling and immediately bristled. A glance over to the large group--there were too many for her to (thankfully) know who had caused her green to wilt. But Felisath nuzzled at her hand, asking for another piece of meat. The slightly yellow-eyed green surely didn't want anyone upset.

Candidate Aelyx : Western : She/Her

If she were to be honest, her heart went out to the little bronze. Yes...She recognized that white eye. Bless that metallic for recognizing the fallen. Her eyes, were back on the remaining dragons, her heart hoping so that perhaps? Perhaps one was for her. Perhaps one existed for her. "Good clutch so far. It would do well to strike up some conversation to distract herself from her memory of just a short time earlier.

Tonori

One of the nice things about being Tonori-sized was that very little escaped his notice on the basis of his view being obstructed. His height allowed him to peer over other candidates' heads to watch the flurry of Impressions, each of which caused a warm glow of pleasure in his stomach. He was by no means an excessively sentimental man, but hatchings were so emotionally charged it was impossible to remain completely unmoved, particularly standing on the sands.

More than the vicarious joy of others' Impressions, however, it was the mystery bronze's actions which caught and held his attention. The glittering hide was not a factor in his interest. Rather, it was the very clear gesture of respect that the little bronze paid Metzli. In his turns working as a guard Tonori had occasionally experienced comrades' deaths, and had marked the loss with solemnity. The bronze's behavior reminded him of that. For a being so soon out of the shell, Tonori would not have expected him to have a grasp of tragedy when it happened to others. But the hatchling's eyes had gone white, revealing the truth of the bronze's grief, and Tonori was filled with respect for the young bronze.

Destiny was calling the Mystery bronze, and he was bound and determined to answer. Even if he might dream of who this mysterious Candidate might have been, he knew there was a perfect someone just for him! A hero he could call his own. But how strange... his person didn't seem to be near any of the others.

Hmm.

... But wait! Wait! There he was! MidaisMine, are you quite all right? Don't worry, I'll save you! So saying, the young bronze dashed up to where Tristram and Midais were, giving the latter a soft nuzzle. Your Pantanath is right here now, and no one will ever hurt you, ever again!

Looking proudly up at the Candidate-turned-rider, his eyes were full of the most gentle rainbow. This was his Midais! His M'is! The knight who would join him to save all of Pern!

FISHER & Euxanth

It'd happened so fast. One moment Fisher was just talking to the blue (weird) and offering to teach scratches when it seemed he'd ...Impressed? Not to her but to one of the young men who'd been with her, and no sooner had Fisher turned to look and see who than she felt sudden weight against her. It was heavy against her muscles, against her chest and neck, and the teen had a very distinct feeling of being...smelled.

But there was no maliciousness behind it, no need to fear. Slowly she moved her head back just in time to connect her chin with a nose; the very same nose that was eagerly sniffing at her throat in an effort to get closer to her face. All she could see was snout, then a single eye colored in several shades of blue. The blue swirled for a moment before seemingly exploding into a rainbow, and Fisher was pretty sure she'd forgotten how to breathe.

I'm right, right? The dragon asked again, this time leaning less on her haunches (Fisher sort of noticed she was sitting on her hind legs rather oddly) and more on the teen for actual support. Because like I said, I'm here and you're supposed to be here with me. You can't go anywhere now without me and we're not supposed to leave yet. The green dragonet sounded so full of herself and in fact acted a tiny bit on it, giving a huff. She knew Fisher's heart almost better than Fisher did and there was no way someone who loved rules and following them would say no.

There was a moment of silence between the pair that seemed to linger entirely too long. Fisher hadn't made any movements to push her away and yet she didn't exactly move to embrace her close either. Instead she looked into that single rainbow eye, unblinking, as all sorts of thoughts and feelings rushed through. Take your time. A beat. Or actually please don't. I don't want to wait around if we don't have to and I am kinda hungry.

Two hands slipped down to around where a dragon's armpits would be and, with a grunt, Fisher was able to lift her dragon, her partner, her lifemate - her Euxanth up. There was no wriggling to get free as the green was held there, instead she simply slowly blinked her eyes. This was how Fisher processed things on a deeper level, or so Euxanth supposed, and in that case she didn't mind taking a bit more time. ".....I would die for you." The dragonet's tail wagged back and forth - annoyance? Excitement? "Euxanth, you're mine."

That's what I said!! Now let's get going so I can get something to eat before my brothers and sisters eat it all! There was more of a prounced wiggle this time as Euxanth attempted to get free. Fisher's grip remained however and the green huffed. Mine. Lemme go. Food times!!! Then we can go swimming, okay??? I know you've missed swimming.

Fisher snorted and pulled the dragonet into some sort of weird carry/hold. Euxanth accepted that since they were starting to move, and she nuzzled her head against her rider's neck. "You don't swim right after eating, dummy."

Rio

Perhaps approaching the hatchling and giving it the attentions it so desired wasn't strictly by the book, when it came to the rules, but the blue had very plainly asked for them to do so, and if reprimanded later, that would have been his defense. The freshly-hatched little dear wanted some scratches, and how could he in good conscience risk upsetting the sensitive new life by snubbing the request? That was the semi-defensible reason, at least. The other was simply how could he resist?! Teal and Yellow was a precious, wonderful young dragon, and Rio had an enormous soft spot for dragonets. Adult dragons, too, of course, but when they were little? Oh, his heart just melted, especially for the few that actually wanted his attention. Most tended to have very important things to do - quite understandable, of course! - so on this rare occasion that he was not only permitted, but welcomed to touch one?

It was just perfect! The blue wrapped them up in fondness, and when he rolled onto his back for tummy rubs, Rio could not have been any more smitten, or cared any less that others might judge them for catering to the darling's whims. In fact, so that he might do the job even better, he knelt right down in the hot sand next to the hatchling and rubbed and scritched away. Perhaps it was over-familiar. Perhaps he was too used to Baihath's friendly permissiveness. But those waves of pleasure and fondness, and the knowledge that they were making the dragonet happy, even for a few minutes, ensured that he wasn't going anywhere, for as long as he wanted him to stay. Sure, he'd go off to find His soon enough, but in the meantime...!

And it was sooner rather than later when that time came, the fine specimen of a dragon rolling to his feet and slipping away, circling them, showing off to those candidates who hadn't answered his call. Rio sighed wistfully, appreciatively, and was about to bid him a fond 'good luck' when the blue turned right around and shoved against him like an insistently affectionate feline, offering eyeridges and headknobs and every last part of him that need scritches. Now. And Rio didn't need to be told, or to guess. He just knew. And scritch and rub he did, even as he folded the very most precious of dragons into a full-body embrace, pulling him with him as he sat back unceremoniously in the sand.

"For now, and for always," Rio answered, ducking his head to press it against the soft, perfect blue hide of His. Not to hide his tears - although there certainly were tears - but just to be that much closer as he rocked his baby blue back and forth, thrilling in every last sensation. Tierboskath thrummed with deep contentment, the rainbows of his eyes gradually fading into pure purple. Good. I appreciate the adequate efforts of your friends, but your hands have always pleased best. I could not possibly bear to be without them. Without you. Because he did love Rio for everything that he was, not just his expert scritches!

The new rider had no idea how much time had passed - moments? minutes? - but at last he did lift his head to beam teary-eyed up at Rasthell. "Tierboskath. He's Tierboskath."

Charmed, the dragonet in question purred, though the sound was joined by a rumble from his stomach. I do hate to part so soon after making such a lovely acquaintance, but I am terribly hungry. Perhaps we might speak more later, after all this serious business has concluded. I understand that there is to be a party. Tierboskath stretched out his delicate to offer Rasthell a fond boop (and might have done the same for Fisher had his sister not claimed her) before Rio stood, bodily lifting the young blue in the same motion. Had he not had his arms absolutely full of hatchling, he would have hugged his friend, but at the moment he could offer little more than a nod, eyes shining with emotion. "We'll see you soon. Good luck."

One of your siblings really would be lucky to have him, he said privately to Tierboskath as he carried him towards the feeding tables. He looked up to the Stands as he walked, scanning for certain familiar figures. He wanted to wave and point - look! look at his perfect Tierboskath!! - but again, arms full of hatchling.

You could put me down...but this is rather nice, so then again, you're quite welcome to keep on with it. We can wave later.

The Hot Pink 80s blue was just wandering at this point, looking at this Candidate and that. Behind him, the Ace Flag bronze had finally begun to move. What a sight! What sounds! It was a whole circus out there, with Impressions happening left and right.

How exciting! How thrilling! Did you see what those Candidates were doing to our brother? Ace Flag bronze asked Hot Pink 80s blue, unable to quite contain his amusement. He's such a scoundrel! I love it.

The dragonet paused to fan himself with his wing, for the hot Sands were all but working up a sweat on his lovely hide. Or maybe that was his metallic sheen! Oh, this was sooo much effort. Flopping down again, careful to choose a spot where there were plenty of Candidates around, he awaited his brother's reply.

Petting him! Yeah, what's up? Hot Pink 80s blue clearly didn't quite get what his brother meant.

... Never mind, darling, you'll get it when you're older.
