Mala looked at Van with wide, sparkeling eyes. Like a child seeing a magic trick for the first time, she was quite impressed. "You can guess that without even looking? If you're right, you're going to have to tell me how you did that."

"I may essentially be retired, but I'm not rusty. I've still got my mad thief skills you know." Van said, his ego growing slightly with the look of wonder on Mala's face. "I've just stolen enough purses in my lifetime to pick up on things like that. Silver coins are a little lighter and have a more metallic sound to them than gold coins."

"It's certainly a skill to be proud of." Mala said, putting away her coin purse for the moment being. "I'm jealous~ You've got all these amazing skills, while I get to be just a useless if pretty accessory." she half-joked.

"Well, you've got your magic spells of doom, you've become a very good acrobat over the years, and you've got excellent showmanship should we ever find ourselves near broke and in desperate need of money." Van said. "Even if you were useless, which you aren't, I'd still love you."

{I forgot to throw my trash away and my trashcan has gone missing. crying Plus, dumpsites are icky. *cries while dumping the crumbs into my brother's junk pile as a lazy form of disposal* ..Nevermind. biggrin }

Mala, having her ego stroked as she had wanted, hugged Van tightly once more with a broad grin plastered onto her lips. "Oh, Van! You're so sweet!"

"I aim to please." Van said with a grin. "....Now why don't they have carts to transport these things?" he said with a grunt once they made their purchase, Van trudging along carrying the mattress on his back.

((Awkward time skip is awkward because I didn't want to make crap post due to block. >>;; ))

{Yes, yes he did! He called me fat! evil Also, don't worry about doing timeskips like that. Sometimes they're necessary to keep things going smoothly. XD}

"I haven't the foggiest. Still, you sure you must carry that on your own? I'd be glad to help." Mala said, looking concerned for Van. Despite her worries and her offer, she could already predict Van's answer.

"Nah, I'm good." Van said with a grunt as he shifted the mattress up a bit.

"Well, please tell me if you do need help. After all, it's quite the walk from here to home." Mala said, feeling almost guilty for not helping to carry anything - even if they only bought the mattress at the moment.

"Things like this help me fill my manly ego." Van said, hefting the mattress up again when he heard it start to drag along the ground slightly.

"Can't you do that without breaking your back?" Mala asked, refusing to drop the subject just yet.

"It's a mattress. It's not heavy, just big and bulky." Van said.

Mala pouted, crossing her arms. "Fine, then. Carry it if you're so inclined."

"I just don't think it right to make a lady work." Van said.

"It's not making me work if I volunteer, now is it?" Mala replied.
