Xavier blinked as he held the quaffle in his arm. Well, he didn't exactly ask for this. Grinding his teeth together, he started down the pitch, his gaze focused and hard. If he was going to do this, he was going to do it right. Plus, he was going to figure out how to send a howler back home just to yell at his dad. Ugh!

spaceGypsy's eyes narrowed when Xavier came away with the ball... barely! But he did, and she grit her teeth and took off after him, her eyes blazing. She was not going to be the weak link! She absolutely refused! She trailed him on her broom, holding tight and flying towards him, determined to get the ball away from his hold.

  Rufus really did not feel like playing today but with how many new players the team was replacing with he felt that he'd let everyone down if he did not try at all. Rufus flew up and saw that the third year Xavier had the ball and he zoomed off on his old broom to try and give at least somewhat of a go. {OoC:} Position: Chaser

spaceGypsy frowned when she epically failed trying to steal from Xavier. God, this sucked! She needed to get her head in the game! It had completely escaped her realm of reasoning that this was just tryouts; she was taking this seriously. After all, in a real game, not doing so would be disastrous! Unfortunately, when she got competitive, and started losing, her temper got the better of her. She watched as Rufus, the older student and only returning chaser, easily swiped the ball from Xavier's hands. She glared; how was she ever going to get the ball from him? With her fellow third year she had a shot, but... for someone who hadn't cared about Quidditch, she cared about it a hell of a lot right now... which was why she'd never allowed herself to care about it before. Her competitive nature got the better of her. But, there was no going back now. She set her sights on Rufus and closed in, hoping beyond all hope to manage to steal the ball from the more experienced player.

Xavier was going down the pitch just fine when he felt the quaffle ripped out from his grasp. He turned around, narrowed his eyes, and shot toward the older player. He reached out, trying to grab the ball from Rufus.

spaceGypsy's scowl was going to become permanent if things didn't look up soon. She'd very nearly stolen the ball from Rufus, which she supposed was an improvement over her utter failure before, but it wasn't doing anything to improve her mood. Her eyebrow twitches in annoyance when Xavier failed to steal as well. How were they supposed to get the ball from him, he'd been on the team for years! Her eyes narrowed and she lowered herself to her broom, going for another steal, not bothering to waste time or energy on hoping it would work.

spaceEcho watched the chasers battle it out... or, rather, watched the older chaser make Gypsy and the other boy look like a couple of silly song birds compared to his bird of prey, swooping in on a meal. It took him a moment to realize that, wait a minute, he was the meal! His eyes went wide and all the color drained from his face as he reached to try and keep the boy from scoring.
