By Faranth! You and your dragon pull off a pretty awesome move to catch some Thread that's fallen through. You're able to save one of your Wingmates! Quote one of your Wingmates who took damage this Round! This will remove damage and any possible negative effect from that roll!

The closer they got to the end, the more alert they had to remain - and M'nr was on his A game in the dark, keeping an eye out for anything that had fallen through to them - or too close to any wingmates.

It was harder to be alert to the wind and where it could have taken you at a moment's notice - and Cordrath stung with pain that only a brief visit Between could soothe.

Your dragon is effortlessly flaming Thread. Honestly, they almost seem to make it look easy. Both you and your dragon start to feel more confident, and even start to get a bit cocky. Low Altitude Wing was always the easiest wing to fly. Unfortunately for you.... Roll a D4!

4. Appear from Between directly into a clump of Thread. There is no avoiding the tangles, and you and your dragon are scored in multiple areas. [Major Damage -8 HP!]

That had been an AWFUL hit for Cordrath to take, a poor jump planned in the dark that made the bronze REEL with pain as M'nr made the executive decision:

We're not going to fall out of the sky today. Go back.

11. You check in on your dragon to ensure they're doing all right. Thankfully, your dragon responds that they're feeling fine. All that training and practicing is coming full circle, as your dragon isn't feeling particularly fatigued. If they are suffering from a Fatigue Effect, they get a burst of renewed energy and the status is removed. [+1 Stamina] If your dragon isn't suffering, you are allowed to quote a fellow wingmate (must be in your same wing) who is suffering the effect! Your dragon trumpets at them encouragingly, making them feel better, and giving them a renewed burst of energy and effort. Remove Fatigue Effect from one wingmate!

“You doing all right Sim?” Fi’don asked. The small green gave a honk of confirmation, her wings sore but strong still.

It took a moment, but eventually G'rey was delivered a bag of firestone, and he easily tossed his empty bag back in turn to be refilled and delivered to another rider. With his new back securely in place, he returned to the fight with Karhath. Their eyes were peeled for any Thread that came their way, although conditions certainly made it difficult to spot.

Perhaps it was pure luck. But something was niggling at G'rey to look over his shoulder - and he spotted the clump heading for them just in time to nudge Karhath between. They reappeared over the clump flawlessly, flaming it down with satisfaction. That very well could have been a serious Threadscore if G'rey had ignored that niggling feeling, or if Karhath had reacted to his nudging even a moment later. But they'd avoided it, and had made sure that Thread wouldn't go on to potentially score anyone else.

Quote:
Your dragon dives for a strand of thread that has fallen through the upper wings. Right before they belch forth their flame, they suddenly jerk hard to the right, almost in a roll, and quite unexpectedly. Sure enough, a gust of wind would have whipped the thread back in their face! Instead, the strand whips by, and your dragon is able to successfully flame it. [+1 Instinct]

They were doing well, for all the worse conditions had gotten. There had been no more injuries, although there were a few close calls. But both G'rey and Karhath seemed to be alert enough to react quickly to the worst of it, dodging strands and clumps before they began a true danger to them. And it was while Karhath was diving after a strand that G'rey felt him jerk to the side once again, very nearly rolling through the air. Not a moment later, the wind kicked up and blew the strand they'd been chasing right where his brown's face had been, and Karhath turned in the air to flame it down.

A close call.

G'rey knew they didn't have much longer left before the fall ended and they returned to the Weyr to be patched up and sent to rest. Harsh as Threadfall had been today and especially as the sun set, he could tell it was beginning to wind down. There was less and less Thread falling through from the higher altitudes, although that could also be explained away as the upper wings doing their job well. But G'rey was inclined to believe they hadn't suddenly gotten better and that Threadfall was beginning to taper off.

Still with me?

Always.

Karhath was well. As much fresh Threadscore mottled his hide, and as long as the fall had been, he wasn't lacking in energy.

G'rey wouldn't go so far as to say his dragon was brimming with energy, but Karhath certainly wasn't lagging as he had during their shift in the middle altitudes. For all that he had to do even more chasing in the low altitudes, he was doing well. Each strand of Thread that made it through the upper ranks was chased down by him the moment it was within his reach, flamed down without prejudice to fall to the ground as harmless ash.

4. You're low on firestone! If you've already replenished recently (within the last 5 posts) you may choose to skip this roll and just do a general post for no XP. OR you can keep it and blame it on a faulty bag, or some other excuse for being without stone. Call for one of the weyrlings to send you another sack of stone! [Flag down a weyrling! Post this code in your next post and see if a weyrling can get to you!

An older man on an older blue rose to the call, sack of firestone at the ready.

For Faranth's sake... On your way to the rider in question, you wind up getting blown into a tangle of Thread. The stronger winds caught your young dragon off guard, and you find yourself taking a heavy hit. You are able to jump Between but that didn't feel good at all. You throw the stone, albeit a bit shakily, but at least its mark is true. Moderate Damage: - 5 HP
