3. Automatic KO or Death! You either lost yourself Between due to the crazy conditions; or you wound up missing a major sheet of Thread due to the darkening skies.
In the dark it was impossible to see the sheet of Thread that had somehow missed all of the dragons above. Or perhaps it has taken out all of the dragons above...
Either way, it caught Simariath and Fi’don by complete and utter surprise. The damage was done even though they tried to jump Between, appearing a moment later. The little green creeled in pain, beating her wings to try to stay aloft, but the pain was too much. Fi’don wasn’t conscious on her back and she gave in to the darkness, falling after such a successful fight.
Martirae and Anakumath - Catching Fi'don and Simariath
Quote:
Your gold flies high, ready to save their fallen wingmate. She positions herself well, with the dragon managing to land comfortably upon her back. Though the adrenaline is still racing through both of you, there's also excitement and ride. You're practically an expert at this catching thing, already! Back to the Weyr with you!
Another dragon was falling from the sky, and her last failure was still on Anakumath's mind - not as a deterrent to try again, but as motivation to do better. Martirae nursed that thought, helping guide her dragon into position so that Simariath wouldn't go slipping and sliding like the last had.
And so the landing would hopefully not be a rough one.
Fortunately, this seemed to work out, Marty urging Anakumath back to the Healers while she tried to assess the damage on both rider and dragon to the best of her ability. The pair would remain in the bowl long enough for Ana to offer some encouraging nuzzles while Marty held the fort down until a Healer could take the pair off of her hands.
"Be well," she urged to them, though if they were awake to hear it was an unknown, before she and Anakumath again returned to the skies.

Your dragon dives for a strand of thread that has fallen through the upper wings. Right before they belch forth their flame, they suddenly jerk hard to the right, almost in a roll, and quite unexpectedly. Sure enough, a gust of wind would have whipped the thread back in their face! Instead, the strand whips by, and your dragon is able to successfully flame it. [+1 Instinct]
Slidrianth shot after a stray bit of Thread--and D'zrak was thrown hard as the dragon suddenly jerked. The wind had thrown the silvery stuff right back at them, and if Sli hadn't dodged, he'd have taken it right to the face! As it was, he flamed, and the Thread burnt up harmlessly.

As the wind kicked up again, Slidrianth shrieked as Thread streaked against his side! D'zrak quickly took them Between, cursing this sharding wind for all it was worth. If it had ears, it would have been shocked and offended.

Your dragon flames a small strand of thread, but unfortunately, a gust of wind blows the ash back into you. Your dragon hisses in pain, and if your face isn't protected, you might get a burn yourself! Thankfully, the burn isn't severe, and your dragon at least can carry on. [+1 Pain Resilience // -2 HP]
Slidrianth's eyes were tinged with grey as Thread bit into him again, his stamina beginning to flag badly. Just a little longer. He just had to fly a little longer.

You check in on your dragon to ensure they're doing all right. Thankfully, your dragon responds that they're feeling fine. All that training and practicing is coming full circle, as your dragon isn't feeling particularly fatigued. If your dragon isn't suffering, you are allowed to quote a fellow wingmate (must be in your same wing) who is suffering the effect! Your dragon trumpets at them encouragingly, making them feel better, and giving them a renewed burst of energy and effort. Remove Fatigue Effect from one wingmate!
Do we need to go back? D'zrak didn't bother to hide his worry--his fear. He wouldn't risk losing Slidrianth. Not even for 'duty' and 'honor' and all that mess.
We are almost done. The exhaustion in Slidrianth's tone was almost painful for him to hear.

Again, Slidrianth showed an uncanny sense of predicting when the wind would flare up. He nimbly avoided a bit of Thread he'd been pursuing, only to char it as it flew harmlessly past.

1-4. Automatic KO or Death! You either lost yourself Between due to the crazy conditions; or you wound up missing a major sheet of Thread due to the darkening skies.
When the sheet of Thread hit them, Slidrianth didn't even cry out. D'zrak could feel his dragon's agony, his sheer terror--and then the bronze went limp. A scream tore from his own throat as they plummeted, desperately trying to get his dragon to wake up, to say that he was all right.
Slidrianth's consciousness flickered, but he did not wake. He'd been scored too badly.
Your queen flies high, ready to make the perfect catch. Unfortunately, the dragon falls hard, and at such an angle that your queen can't quite complete the catch. The dragon rolls off, but this time manages to land safely on one of the assisting queen's below. Phew. Unfortunately, the dragon did leave your queen feeling a bit bruised. Ah well. Nothing a hardly lady like her can't handle
Anakumath maybe had moved too hastily when she spotted the second lived one in such a short amount of time hurtling downwards. While she'd not been the first to come for Elzebuth, she'd rushed for Slidrianth...and while for a moment she'd had him...it hadn't been a solid catch and he went sliding off of her.
The small gold creeled with desperate despair, white eyes following the bronze down, down - to the safety of Hesperith's back.

They needed to get back to the Weyr. Zijianth had been battered hard, and A'ryx wasn't feeling much better. But even as they notified their wingleader and made ready to do so, the wind picked up again, and as tired as he was, Zijianth was easily blown into a large clump of Thread. The bronze shrieked, and they hadn't even the slightest chance of going Between and making it back again.
Zijianth lost consciousness, and they plummeted.

You're low on firestone! If you've already replenished recently (within the last 5 posts) you may you may choose to skip this roll and just do a general post for no XP.
Dragons were beginning to fall, and A'zota silently grit his teeth. Fall was almost over, but their injuries and losses... He didn't even want to think about them. Couldn't--not right now.

All was quiet for now. A'zota didn't trust for a second.
Your dragon is starting to feel tired. This particular fight is wearing them down. A strong gust of winds tries to throw them out of their position. Roll a D4 to see what happens. 2. Your dragon begins to be blown out of position, but fights it by giving a few powerful flaps of their wings. There. No one noticed anything out of place.
Though the wind threatened to blow Eriath out of formation, she quickly compensated by flapping her wings hard, angling her body out of the worst of the gust. Not a problem.
