[Tsukasa567] Iconised Ghost [Tsukasa567] My major problem with the whole thing was the lack of participation, we got a whopping 0.3% of the guild to vote, I think that it would have been better if it was in an area that got looked at more than in the stickies. I know that when I get onto the guild, I see the stickies, but since most of them are about rules or something like that, which I know, I don't actually pay attention to what the stickies say. I know I'm not the only one who does it. While I understand that you promoted it in your siggy, and had it in a sticky, I just don't feel that it was really advertised enough. Its likely that of the thousands of members, not much more than maybe 1% are active enough to have turned out to vote. So of course those who have never posted since they joined the guild wont have voted, but im not entirely convinced that it really matters [Tsukasa567] Also, the fact that it was a popularity contest irks me too, but the real thing that kills me is the way that voting was done. No system should allow a person to vote for themselves three times. You gave the example that in presidential elections, the candidates would not hesitate to vote for themselves, but the difference is that they only get one vote, also, millions of people are voting, so their one vote is pretty much meaningless. Either all of the votes should have counted the same, or you shouldn't have been able to vote for yourself as the number one candidate. Did anyone vote for themselves 3 times? xd that never occured to me. You say it was a popularity contest- i agree, but in order to be popular here you have to post a lot, get along with lots of people, be around, be relatively fair, all that jazz. Which is pretty much the same as being a DM imo [Tsukasa567] The whole nominations were a little odd too, I mean, I saw one or two names on the ballot who I've never seen post anywhere near enough to have satisfied the older, can't remember if it was newer as well, requirement of 1500 posts, or by now, just a ton, in order to be allowed to be nominated. I dont remember if that rule was a requirement of this particular event, i dont think it was. But just because they were nominated doesnt mean that they got enough votes, and one person who i had never heard of before nominated themselves and got no votes because no one knew them. So its not such a huge issue imo Remember, its just a bit of fun, rught? neutral well, you'd only really need 115 people, which may be a stretch, but I'm sure you could make it. The three votes for yourself was the whole, you vote yourself into first position and get three votes added onto your tally, I just thought that whole idea was silly really. And it really isn't that hard to be popular, you may post a lot, but it doesn't mean that you will continue to do so, or you could be liked because of the fact that your personality is just that great, not because you're really dedicated. Yeah, I know it's all a bit of fun, I just felt like there were improvements that could be made to the system. @Bluegrass: Please, i never expected to win, I did it because I was bored, I'm just voicing concerns I have with the system, if you'll notice, if you take away the entire weighted ballot, I still wouldn't have stood a chance, like I said, I just wanted to let some issues that I thought there were in the system be known xd the entire reason for the weighted system was because people generally have one person in mind for a dm. its usually someone they've seen post a bajillion times and who helped them out in the beginning. they have loyalty to that person, and that's great. however, we knew that most people also had OTHER candidates in mind. and since there were so very many candidates, we thought it would be a good idea for people to be able to choose three and to have those three choices weighted to show their true preference. 3nodding the system adds balance to our voting by making it more intricate and more difficult to swing in any one direction. @ ghost: we did, but we only had 23 people vote...which is pretty damn average, i'm sorry to say. sweatdrop

Ok I really don't see the point in arguing blaugh Can't we all just get over ourselves along?
I personally see nothing wrong with the system. I swear this was up for way more than 2 weeks.. sure seems like it xd And it was certainly noticeable o.o; There is no excuse for not noticing the thread =o And so what if it's a popularity contest? This is about being dedicated... and the more dedicated you are, the more people notice you and the more they like you blaugh It comes along with being dedicated in my opinion ^^
And as for how we voted with the points... I say get over it 3nodding Bluegrass wanted it that way, so nyeh D:<

xd I keep checking the intro page just to see if it's changed, it's ridiculous I know it won't be up that quickly. I'm so curious. whee
About the voting for ourselves "dilemma", seriously I feel bad enough about voting for myself ok! crying It's just for fun. Though I get you're just voicing your concerns about the system, [Tsukasa567], so that mini rant isn't directed at you, it's just that I've seen a couple of comments criticizing the ones who voted for themselves, so when I see "voting for themselves" on a post I just feel like ranting a bit. whee
Anyway...
I'm gonna get on it next time! domokun blaugh

Yay for new DM's!
Does this mean I can have my old spot on the front page back?! xd I was sad when I got taken off like a few months maybe before I started posting again TT^TT
So if I was one when we first did the front page.. does that mean I still was this last year+? lol..
And I think all and all it was fair and worked well.
