While I never truly learned how to type, I use a mumble-jumble of fingers flying everywhere. While I'm not to fast, I'm pretty uptight about keeping my spelling in check, unless say I'm on Skype mobile or just joking around with close friends, and we don't really care about being super correct.
I believe there's a really good video that explains "What's happened to the English language"...
Sorry the HTML to make it an instant video on here isn't working. It actually explains the whole of the English language in a fairly funny manner, but doesn't get to the whole modern 'txt tlk' until near the end.
Separately speaking, from what I've noticed with a high school full of international transfer students, they English is actually much better than anyone I've met who was of long-term American descent. Mind you this is coming from a first-generation American citizen on one side and about maybe 20th generation American citizen on the other. (One side arrived around the 1500's, one arrived in 81'). I'm just observing what I've noticed is all, and I don't mean to offend anyone.
If you can't tell my English is a huge mix of stupid and stupidly posh. (Bleh).
