The ship's deck is a scene of organized madness; sailors bustling back forth, preparing to dock. The land of this so-called China was in sight, just barely, but even at this distance Rhea can tell that is nothing like home, and her heart gives a small twinge, just as her stomache heaves. She lurches quickly to the side of the boat in time to hurl the meager contents of her stomach into the frothy waters below. Despite living in Greece, where a large majority of its populace find work out on the water, Rhea has never been able to tolerate how unstable the swaying deck feels, how unnatural it felt not to have two bare feet planted firmly in plot of nice, dry earth. After the weeks at sea, it would be like a dream to see a tree again, even if it were a foreign one that grew only up to a person's knee, like the ship's cook had said. -- - -- - -- - -- Later that day, the large ship docked, and Rhea stumbled gratefully down the gangplank and into the strange new world called Hong Kong. All around her were odd-looking people, much shorter than she, with yellowish skin and slitted eyes. While her escort, the same representative of the king who had taken her from her mother's arms eleven years ago, directed the unloading of supplies and such, Rhea looked around, her eye almost instantly caught by a group of young people her own age, and almost certainly strangers to this land as well. Should she talk to them...? Could she talk to them? She could certainly talk at them, but would they understand Greek? A large part of Rhea's training had involved the learning of different languages, but she was only fluent in three languages in addition to her home tongue, English, French, Italian, and Gaelic; with a very basic knowledge of Chinese, after a quick crash course especially for this trip. Making up her mind, Rhea steadily worked her way through the crowds, coming to a stop next to the rather mismatched group, just behind yet another foreigner. They all seemd to be speaking English, so that was what Rhea would do as well. "Geia sas ekeí!" she said, a gentle smile on her face, "My name is Rhea Koumaditis. I take it that you all are neither natives as well?" Ugh, her English was terrible, the accent all wrong. Of course, it wasn't exactly her fault; there was not many chances that she had to practice, as most Greeks did not speak the language.

Although Rhea usually preferred the much more gentle and phlegmatic oxen to what often was a wild-spirited horse, she found that she quite enjoyed this large beast belonging to the equally large Scottish man. That was what he was, after all, it was clear from his heavy accent and traditional attire. She smiled as the horse's whispery lips tickled her forehead, and reached up a hand to softly, but firmly, push its head away to keep him from nibbling at her hair, and freeing it from its long braid. "What brings all of you to this country? Are you here for the festival as well?"

"There's not much to do in the highlands during the winter, and yes" Bodb smiled as Tygyrnach pulled a large turrnip out of Bodb's pocket

“Playing with fire is bad for those who burn themselves.”With the exception of the french woman, the other Europeans were making Alessandra feel rather short since she had to look up at least tiny bit at the Greek and Portuguese people, and a whole lot at the Scotsman. She shrugs in reply to the Greeks question of her reasons for being in the country, not really having one she wished to share. “For the rest of us, it is a very great pleasure.” -Anonymous

Hugo Reis The crowd of folks speaking English was growing, it seemed. "I am from Portugal," he replied to Alessandra's question, though the group's slow increase in size meant the conversation was quickly turning away from that anyway. He nodded a little to the two new women who joined the group in conversation: one was clearly French. Having never been to Greece, Hugo wasn't certain about Rhea Koumaditis's accent.
He was a bit surprised that the Scotsman was nearly able to determine his thoughts regarding Scottish/British politics. He must've been staring at him funny. Well, Hugo supposed it only took a basic knowledge of Portugal and England's good terms to know that the government Hugo was under might share English concerns about the Scottish. He shouldn't be so shocked.
"Very interesting, Senhor McTalon," Hugo responded to him after a moment and during a pause in some of the other conversations. "I have been told that China is so strict with who enters and leaves. I am surprised to find foreigners not involved in politics to be freely admitted here."
The highlands, hmm? Hugo had been told those were considered the most unruly of the Scottish: probably because they were so difficult to get to that the English could control them very little. Perhaps fiercely independent was a better way to word it. A small crooked smile formed on one side of his face despite his efforts to stay neutral in tone. "I am a fisherman's son, myself. Traveling such a great distance is...mmm..." he thought, but could not find an English word he felt suited best. "...different, for me. Not usual." Though over the past year, it was becoming more so.

[Okay, I'm sorry to anyone who doesn't like first person, but I just can't continue doing third...] "I never said that I was not here for politics. This..." Here, I pause, trying to remember the words for it, "Festival? Yes, that is the word. This festival is a opportune moment to establish trading and... commerce agreements between Greece and China. The king himself is very interested in the fabric they call silk." I take a moment to look closer at everyone. Scotland, France, Portugal, a very mixed group, clearly not traveling together, but not alone- with the exception of the gargantuan redhead. [Okay, is everyone here with a different motive, or did China invite them to intentually gather all of the Star Born? Also, I was just thinking last night about random stuff, and was wondering: pretty much each star sign has an animal that goes with it, as well as a body part. What if, in addition to the other powers, they could control/have an affinity for those items. For example, Taurus would be the ox/cattle, and the throat/neck.]

{sagitarious is the horse and arms}
"So since it seems that none of us are willingly aligned with anyone why don't we band together as one?" Bodb suggested with a smirk
{China brought them all here using the festival as a ruse to capture as many of the 13 star born as they can}

(I like the idea of the animal/ruling parts. I'm finding conflicting info. with Pisces, but one I found said legs/feet/clotting material of the blood are ruled by Pisces. Animal is of course fish. It all suits Hugo pretty well.) (Also, would it be rude to request that Rhea's name be put somewhere on her posts if you're going to do first-person? I'm bad with names and will end up having to scroll to past posts to see what her name was if not.) Hugo Reis "Ah, I apologize. I did not mean you specifically," Hugo replied to Rhea. "English is not my first language, of course. Sometimes I do not choose the correct words." His brows perked up at Bodb's suggestion. Well, that could potentially be an out for Hugo. Problem being, it was suspiciously out of the blue. And Hugo was still stuck with the other Portuguese guards for the moment, at least until the dignitary involved himself more with the Chinese nobility and moved somewhere more out of their reach. Instead of responding, he waited to see the others' reactions.

((Aries is the ram and I think it rules over the head or something.)) “Playing with fire is bad for those who burn themselves.”Alessandra frowns and eyes Bodb suspiciously from under her hood. The suggestion was out of the blue and, with her past experience of people fighting to try and control her, made her feel like she was starting to be cornered. "While the suggestion sounds lovely, I must decline.", she responds, her apologetic smile attempting to hide any of her sudden suspicion and the fact that she was now trying to inch away from the group. “For the rest of us, it is a very great pleasure.” -Anonymous

Hugo Reis So Hugo wasn't so unusual to be thrown by the offer. That encouraged him a bit. His tone reflected the mild caution of Alessandra and Aurore, though perhaps a little lighter. "Yes, I am in the service of the Portuguese royal family," he chimed in after they finished. Actually, he wasn't even minding his position in the ranks as he should be right now, not that the other guards seemed to be minding.
