C'ryn and Bronze AresothAs he had continued to circle, enjoying flying through the air for the moment, a sweet voice entering his mind made Aresoth turn his attention to the ground once more as he neared. Sweet Cynosuth was near the dining hall with their other clutch siblings and she had called out to him. His whirling eyes moved to look at the ledge where Zenobiath was, but he knew she would understand if he took a small detour. Landing as gracefully as he could, he moved to the smaller green and gently nuzzled his head against hers. I am glad to see you are here, Cynosuth. His eyes moved to look at all of his other siblings that were in the area as well. He felt his hearts torn, wanting to stay on the ground to watch them better but, his golden sister had summoned him to her side and he would not cause her to wait any longer. If you wish to join Zenobiath and I, please do not hesitate. I am sure she would love for you to join us. He knew that was true of all of their clutch siblings, though he had a feeling that Menankith might not like the fact that he and Zenobiath were sitting on a ledge above them all. Taking wing once more, and hating pushing himself up from the ground, Aresoth alighted to the ledge Zenobiath was on. He pressed his head against hers lovingly. I am sorry I took a detour, sweet sister, but Cynosuth called out to me while I was still circling the air. I could not ignore her. His eyes moved to look down at where his siblings were connected, easily seeing why Zenobiath had picked the ledge she did. She could see all of their siblings and the dragons that joined them, she could keep an eye on them all to be able to protect them better. With a cup of warm klah in his hand, C'ryn felt a little under dressed as he saw others arriving. He supposed he could have dressed in his best gather clothes but this was not as formal as a feast was. He supposed he would be happy with how he was dressed, it wasn't dirty at least and he was vaguely aware of how his tunic showed off the muscles his body had gained from becoming a weyrling. Attention was pulled from his inner analysis as he noticed someone coming near, his eyes found Alumet and he smiled softly at her. He didn't know if it was his own fondness for the girl or Aresoth's fondness for his golden sister bleeding over, but he always felt his heart warm when he saw her. "You look lovely tonight Alumet."

H'sad & blue Cinonth The bright blue dragon quietly swooped down near the entrance, a little ways off from where Aresoth had initially landed. The older, larger blue craned his head so he might peek at the younger dragons, his eyes whirling a bright green. They were getting big, and it wouldn't be long before they would be taking to skies, and fighting The Enemy alongside them. Still, there was one green there, that he had kept an eye ever since she was small and first Hatched. Like rider, like dragon, he looked over at Cynosuth, and rumbled a gentle greeting. A delight to see you, starry Cynosuth.
H'sad couldn't slide off his blue fast enough. Without hesitation, he all but tackled Dr'stan from behind, slipping arms around the man to embrace him in a quick hug. He knew that he couldn't kiss, couldn't nuzzle, couldn't do more than this, but he also refused to be completely distant. A hug did not mean pants feelings, thank you, and he broke it off before any such temptation struck. Just a few more months... "Well hello, handsome. Couldn't quite make it inside without me, hmm?" He teased the other with a grin, reaching over to take the others cold hand in his. Ah, but the green rider was a sight for sore eyes, and H'sad wasn't going to waste another moment of this precious night. It wasn't often both had such time to spend together, and he wanted to dance, and soak in Dr'stan's company as he could.
No one else mattered in this moment, at least not really. "Perhaps the fine sir might wish to dance? I have no doubt the beautiful Cynosuth will be in fine company." He added reassuringly, just in case his weyrmate felt any reservation of leaving her.
C'lusi & blue Macuith C'lusi was quite pleased that the two girls were there. He did rather enjoy the company of ladies, though a small part of him did wonder if he just simply missed having Alumet, Lusialu, and his mother close at hand. His sister was more and more finding herself lost in the work of a gold rider, and had other friends to lean upon now -- friends that were older and rode bronze colored dragons -- or were dark-haired, and also had a bronze colored dragon. Even now, he noticed that Alumet had stepped away from Olliah and her gathering, and was being quickly approached by C'ryn. It might have only been a few months ago, but C'lusi did feel as if he was drifting further apart from his sister.
Well.
Perhaps he'd try to catch up to his sister, and force his way back into her life. For now, he would simply enjoy the company of the lovely Nadry and Ichta. His smile for both was genuine, and if he noticed the hint of color on their cheeks, he did not say or draw attention to it, even if it pleased him. It was always nice to be on the receiving end of a compliment, and the fact that neither G'ran nor anyone else was fawning after them was truly a shame to the flirty boy. Just because the weyrlings were all untouchable didn't mean they couldn't still be admired, after all. And C'lusi did rather enjoy admiring pretty things.
"It is a shame they cannot enjoy the party with us -- but with luck they shall enjoy their own festival outside in the snow. Macuith is always pleased to see his siblings, perhaps too much so. I'll confess, I worry he'll drive all his brothers mad with his fawning attention, but he refuses to act in any other fashion." He would never apologize for his blue -- especially given his young one had done nothing wrong -- but he was well aware that the little one had always been overly fond of his blue, brown, and bronze clutchmates. He knew what his bonded wanted, a friend as close to him as he was to his sister, Xochith, but the little blue had yet to make such a strong connection. "So do thank Aurinkoth and Menankith for graciously accepting his high praise."
"While I did try to throw a little something together, I will state that you two ladies are quite fetching indeed. Why there's not a gaggle of men surrounding you....well. Frankly, everyone here must be blind." He grinned at the girls, not at all shy about his admiration. And why should he be? He, of all the weyrlings, knew beauty when he saw it. Yes, Alumet and Olliah and a number of others were in fine form -- but neither Ichta nor Nadry were receiving the attention C'lusi felt they both deserved.
He was about to ask if either was interested in dancing, when G'er sauntered over to join them. The young blue weyrling gave the man a quick look over, before being quite satisfied with the results. A Wingleader, hmm? Oh, C'lusi knew of G'er -- they were only a few Turns apart in age -- but he did not know him well. The fact that the Wingleader had deigned to approach should have been an honor... but the fact he was seeking to talk to them, and not Alumet and C'ryn, was surprising.
"Wingleader," he greeted formally, offering the man a bow, though his impish smile never faded. Unlike some, C'lusi was far too confident to be shy or reserved around those of higher rank. He wasn't an easily intimidated young man, for better or for worse. "I wouldn't mind, though I would much prefer to leave it up to these fine ladies." Like a good host, C'lusi looked back to the two girls, more than willing to follow their lead, and support their decision. Whatever would make them most comfortable was what he'd indulge -- even if that meant declining G'er's invitation.
- - -
Macuith, for his part, hardly knew where to look or who to saunter to. Aresoth, how handsome and regal you look tonight, and how lucky Zenobiath must be to have your attention. Cynosuth, what a beauty you are, standing out among the others so delicately. Gyafrith and Cinonth were given happy creels of delight, and Menankith admired as he struck his pose. Ah, sweet Menankith. You truly do cut quite the figure. You've been training hard, I see. As if they all hadn't been -- but the little blue had always been fond of his brown brother. Menankith was usually the most appreciative of his time. In fact, the little blue was about to approach the good-looking brown when Ironith spoke up.
In truth, Macuith had never expected the older bronze to respond to his compliment. So many tended to brush him off, or at least dismiss his attentions as superficial or strange, or declare him too little to know that which he spoke. But suddenly, quite suddenly, he was being invited to settle beneath the larger bronze's wing! Oh, be still his beating hearts! The blue's eyes whirled a faster, more happy, darker shade of blue, and he all but trilled with delight.
Ever confident, he stalked forward through the snow, unafraid. He slipped past Begath, though he did offer his clutchsib an affectionate nuzzle as he passed, before he took his place beside Ironith. He had no problem sidling up to the bronze, and settled happily next to the others shoulder. If he arched his neck proudly, and stretched himself in such a way to best be admired, it could not be helped. He was not going to spurn this opportunity, nope. Finally, someone had both sense and taste.
You are very kind to offer. The snow is fun, but I would not mind warming up next to such a large, and handsome bronze as you. Ha. Zenobiath might have her gaggle of bronzes, but see, look, Macuith could be an impressive catch, too. Oh, he knew that pride was not necessarily in good taste, but the blue finally, for once, felt vindicated and ever so mature.

“Making children do all your work?” L’mul tsked, shaking his head teasingly. “Why, I can’t believe you’d do such a thing, Love! They’re sure to sleep all night, then.” He looked around again. “I hope the boys are enjoying themselves,” he said, then.
He couldn’t remember the last time they’d been able to dance without a toddler interfering. This was nice. “Have I told you how beautiful you look tonight? All in my favorite—“
If you say color, you’ll be walking from now on.
“Shade of blue,” he hastily finished.

With the gold’s announcement of food and music, Tassiel had been unable to resist the urge of inviting his girlfriend. He’d made his way to the healer quarters. He was much more confident now about his feelings—they’d been together a while. He didn’t have to stumble over his words anymore.
“Bekah, come on,” He beckoned her. “There’s dancing and food in the dining hall.” He hadn’t yet been able to take her dancing. He hoped she wouldn’t make some excuse that she needed to study. “It’ll be fun. Please?”

Tassiel didn't know it but Bekah had already been getting ready since the announcement came, she hadn't gone to the Hatching Feast a while back as she'd been busy with the other healers treating the various scrapes and cuts and she'd already had her restday that sevenday. When Tass knocked, she called him in and gave him a twirl in her new dress, one she'd bought just for Gathers. "what do you think?" she asked, blushing. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Besides Weyrling training, M'lan had spent time in the kitchens from the moment the party was announced, helping the kitchen staff, making meals, Xochith content for a short while, to doze in their quarters. He didn't like leaving her but the other half of his heart she hadn't claimed, belonged in the Kitchens, except with her, it was where he was the happiest and she indulged him. However once the party was getting into sway Xochith began getting irritated. "Mine, enough is enough, we are going to be LATE and while most of the time being late makes a good entrance, this time we will ust go unnoticed, come on already""alright Xochith, i'll be right there" he promised her, putting the pie in to bake and nodding to a kitchen worker, ensuring it would get removed in time. He went to the weyrling barracks and got changed into his best, which wasn't as expensive or as impressive as some but enough to be fairly impressive. Xochith had made him get them, she wanted him to take more pride, to stand out more. Xochith by now was beside herself with eagerness to get to the party and laughing M'lan made his way, Xochith by his side. The moment they entered Xochith flared her wings and bugled, not too loudly, that would have been rude, but enough that people .. and dragons.. would notice and look their way. She gracefully moved beside her thickset rider, head turning gently, this way and that, nodding at those who looked. M'lan just blushed, he was getting used to Xochith making them both get attention but it still made his face hot when girls looked him up and down. "Macuith! Brother, i am here, where are you?" she asked, instantly seeking out her twin, leaving M'lan to his own devices as she hunted him down, but not without giving her rider a loving nudge and thoughts of deepest love. Others were important yes but her Twin was ALMOST as Imortant to her as M'lan was, after all wasn't it only proper to gracefully move, attract attention and find her brother who she shared an egg with?

Tia beamed and padded over to the dragon's side, settling down on the floor beneath her wing. She was afraid she would be told just to go back to bed.
"It's so quiet here.." she said, leaning against he warmth of the dragon's side. "Not that that's bad." she added quickly, not wanting them to think she wasn't happy or grateful to be here or send her back. She wrapped the bed fur tighter around her shoulders, trying to pull it under her feet with her toes. "It's just hard to sleep," she sighed.
"Woah!" She nearly jumped when the dark blue swooped onto the ledge, so dark you could barely see him against the night sky. But his body was blocking the wind.. Was that on purpose? She settled back against the gold's side, leaning her head against her warm hide. "Your.. friend?" she asked her.

Ichta and Blue Aurinkoth"I'm going to go off a whim and say Aurinkoth is enjoying himself even if he's outside," Ichta said, casting a glance towards the doorway where she could see her sweet blue. If he'd been any lighter, he'd probably have blend right into the snow like the sun on a cloudy, snowy morning. At least if he hadn't glued himself to Cynosuth. He'd always been fond of the green, and Ichta had joked more than once that her blue had a 'type'. I'll see about bringing you something before the end of the evening, love. I do see some good looking fruit in here. she offered. The surge of absolute excitement caused her to smile. Who needed boys fawning over them when she had a blue that loved her with his entire being? Well, there was one boy tangentially on her mind.... "I'm....I'd rather not be surrounded by a gaggle of men," Ichta admitted sheepishly, though it seemed that perhaps C'lusi was now starting the chain reaction that would turn into 'Ichta and Nadry with company'. G'er was given a quiet glance over before she looked to C'lusi, deferring to his judgement. Though perhaps out of some ingrained pack-habit, she did lean in closer to Nadry. So this was one of the Wingleaders. Ichta knew names on paper, and had put as much of it as she could into her head, but never quite had the faces. So she was thankful the young man recognized him. "No, we were just lamenting ours didn't fit through the doorways anymore. They grow very quickly," another glance was passed over towards the doorway, as if she didn't already know Aurinkoth was still where she'd last seen him. The ham. ---- Aurinkoth was now very excited about the prospect of getting to chew on some fruit for himself. He'd taken to enjoying it vicariously through Ichta (and oh had it done her health some good to eat so much of it), but it was never the same. Tonight was now officially the best night ever - his siblings were here, he was getting a treat, and oh look at all the big dragons! He trilled with delight as the gathering seemed to grow larger outside. Even Aresoth made an appearance! Hello Aresoth! though soon enough he was gone again and off to join Zenobiath. Not that he blamed him. He was a good duty bound bronze, after all. Not that he didn't see every one of his siblings near daily for lessons, it was the times outside of lessons that were extra exciting. Though what Ironith said was rather interesting too. Recruitment, huh? My Ichta is most excellent! Very soft, but good and observant, he offered, though he already knew the Wingleader was conversing with said Ichta without his help. But it was an excuse to talk about his wonderful Ichta. He was so lucky nobody else had tried to take her first! Menankith's is also quite good. Mine thinks very fondly of her. And Elzebuth's! though he'd be polite enough to not mention much more of Ichta's thoughts about G'ran. That was a secret, after all, and he was trying to be real good at keeping those. Except from Elzebuth. BastetAmun A Fly by hello from Aurinkoth.

Oh. Aresoth, was, of course, on his way to join Zenobiath. The little Green was not surprised, but there was a touch of disappointment coloring the otherwise happy colors whirling within her bright eyes. No, dear brother, you go along ahead. For it was unlikely that Zenobiath would truly wish to share Aresoth with anyone, and Cynosuth did not wish to become... inconvenient. And so she settled beside Aurinkoth, giving him a little, affectionate nuzzle. He was such a devoted brother, and it did her hearts good to see him once more. Not that she ever didn't see him in a day!
Aurinkoth, I missed you, the little Green informed her dear brother, trying not to have a sad over the happenings of before. She had only wanted to invite Aresoth into their company, but of course he should spend time with their dearest sister. How handsome you look, Aurinkoth, Menankith, and Macuith. Where is our dear brother, where is Elzebuth? she inquired, a tiny lady holding an even tinier court, if only in her wistful dreams. She wanted to play with her brothers and sisters, and sometimes pretended that she could help them to be at their best. Dearest Monath, how beautiful you are! You will shine the brightest of all of us, I am sure.
Well hello, Cinonth! Cynosuth said, a bright spark of affection coloring her words. He was ever so kind to her! What a sweet older Blue he was. And His made Hers so very happy! Will you join us? she asked, folding her wings lightly upon her back.
Dr'stan, startled by H'sad's abrupt presence, tamped down on emotions that swiftly arose. He did not dare to let them blossom, and perhaps upset his little beauty. "H'sad," he said, turning about so that he might see his weyrmate. "No, I could not. I had been waiting." And... perhaps he had had his usual hangups. He was not the best in a crowd, truth be told. Quite unused to going anywhere without his beloved, besides.
"The fine sir would indeed dance, but only with you. Cynosuth is happy enough here." Surrounded by her brothers and sisters, how could she be anything but?

Olliah & Fianth The woman watched as others greeted her before peeling away to enjoy the festivities. Part of her was grateful -- she was not Zheria, after all, and did not need an entourage of company, or any obvious display of thanks or gratitude. Just seeing others come in from the cold to socialize with one another pleased her; reinforcing those bonds of love, friendship, and commitment -- wasn't that a Weyr was for? Everyone here worked with one another in some form or fashion. Encouraging bonding could only bring High Reaches closer together, instead of focusing on the things that pulled them all apart.
When W'dre spoke, the woman smiled warmly again. "I'll keep such an offer of aid in mind," she finally consented, since the man seemed eager to help. "For now, I trust you'll enjoy yourself. This get together is as much for you as it is anyone." And she did want all to relax, enjoy one another, and have fun. If she needed a helping hand later that night, she would choose only from those who remained, but she did rather hope that everyone would drink, eat, dance, and be merry, and retire so full-up on joy that they would think nothing of what work would yet remain. That was Olliah's job, after all, wasn't it? Cleaning up messes, and quietly putting things back together, preferably, where others needn't see nor worry.
Glancing over to Al'ndru, the woman gave another shake of her head. "I promise, there's little formality needed here. It's nice to get together, sometimes, I think," she added, almost a little wistfully. "Nice to remember that we're all simply human, and on the same side -- more than just a rider, or a worker, or a dragon color." That was the true beauty of the Weyr, in her opinion. Yes, they all sacrificed time, energy, blood, sweat, tears, and even their own lives to save Pern -- but they were each an individual, with their own hopes, dreams, and desires. It was easy to let politics pull them apart, when really, at the end of the day, they were all fighting on the same team and to keep Pern alive.
"Ah, such thoughtfulness," she smiled, though her words were genuine. "I assure you, I'm all right. Really. I knew the amount of work I was getting myself into when I accepted the position. Besides, the more I do, the less falls upon the shoulders of Zheria or the other weyrwomen, and gives them some time to actually enjoy their days." Or their nights, as Alumet had confessed to looking forward to. No, with Zheria being preoccupied with her court and other happenings, Olliah took on the brunt of domestic and local support.
"Mmm, well, I will make note of the concern, and will see what I can do. Perhaps if tonight goes well, I'll try to make social calls more of a priority." Her smile was gentle as she conceded to the others alarm. She didn't feel she overworked herself, though she might have gone overboard once Thread returned. Working kept her from thinking about other things, and now that she had Rune and Rhys and Tia to care for, on top of Zheria's requests . . . well. She would take to being the workaholic if it offered the others less to worry about.
Speaking of Rune and Rhys -- while she was pleased to see them both, and had every intention of greeting them -- she did not wish them to scatter. She had noted Rune's new battle scars, and was certain to get some sort of story through the pipeline eventually. She did offer the two a gentle smile, if they were to glance over. She did not want either to worry . . . She could speak with them later, when the time was right.
- - -
The golden queen considered Rune and Rhys' words. She did not know why the other did not like her concern -- it was right to worry about the girl, especially if she were hurt! She was her rider's responsibility... was it so wrong to care? Still, the queen did not push. Will you confess to Mine what happened later? Or at least confess to me? If someone hurt you... There was a flare of indignation in her words, an unspoken threat. The same sort of rage that a golden queen might harbor for her eggs upon the Sands. If something happened, Fianth -- and Olliah -- would want to know.
Thankfully, Fianth was mostly a calm and composed queen. The flare of feeling was only for Rune to feel, and she let is fade back to its quiet burn. Instead, the gold considered the others words. Do not apologize, small one. You are kind and loving to try to help your sister. We will also try to help, so she need not pull away. You both need not fear any recourse here. Enjoy the night, and we shall speak of this at a more convenient time. She sent both Rune and Rhys a wave of affection and support -- she would not judge, and would let Olliah deal with the two small ones when the time was right.
For now, she glanced away from Tia, so she might proudly gaze upon Krahsujunth. The large blue had finally arrived, and she could not hide the fondness in her gaze, or the love that gripped her hearts. She had not known what to expect when she'd finally allowed the blue to settle upon her ledge such a short while ago, but here they were -- and she did not regret a single moment. Let the Weyr gossip, let Eveleth think her mad. For once in her life, there was someone who genuinely desired her for her -- not simply because she glittered.
Ah, my Krah, I am glad to have you here. The words were spoke gently, but full of warmth and fondness. Honestly, it was an understatement of how the queen truly did feel. Her mood immediately brightened now that he was near, and Olliah herself could not help but smile at such joy. Perhaps it was due to Fianth that the woman felt such a need to share joy and contentment among the riders of High Reaches.
She rested her head against his own, taking a private moment of peace, before turning back towards Tia. She puffed out her head proudly -- glad that Krahsujunth was taking a small interest in Tia, but also glad that Tia had expressed an interest in Krah.
Shifting her position, ever so delicately, she moved closer to Tia, and wrapped her forearm gently about the little girl. This would allow her a place to rest, and provide extra warmth through her own body heat. She could also easily wrap her neck around the child to further protect her from the cold if needed. This is the smallest of them, our most recent hatchling, Tia. She introduced to Krah, eyes whirling a happy blue-green. She was proud of the little hatchling, and her fondness was clear. And this most handsome and fiercest of dragons is Krahsujunth. He is more than a friend, or even a dear friend. He is my heart's song and my love. She wanted to peg him as her mate, but refrained. Perhaps it was too soon for such a commitment? Perhaps she simply feared the M word, after all that happened with Yisketh, and worried how Krah might react. Many dragons went through many mates, certainly, but her situation was unique. Would he wish to be called such a thing if she could not be flown by him? Would he spurn her one day if he found his golden dream to be deficient and flawed? Mmm. These were things she would worry about privately, later.
Right now, she wanted simply to bask with the blue, and the little hatchling, in a night of peace. Are you warm enough, little one? Come snuggle close, Krah and I shall keep you warm until my rider returns. If you grow weary, sleep. If it is too quiet, I can always hum for you. And she did give the little one a gentle, maternal little rumble, as proof.
How is yours, my Krahsujunth? I know she is soon to clutch. And how are you this wintry night? She spoke privately, nuzzling the other gently. How considerate of him to keep the worst of the cold off Tia and she.

"Oh, Menankith doesn't mind. Good luck getting him to admit it, but he likes the attention." It made the brown feel not only valued, but included, which was a tricky thing to achieve when by his nature he so often set himself apart. Macuith didn't judge him for his views or his outbursts, just appreciated him for who he was, and even if he also appreciated Aresoth...well, that was fine. If this was how C'lusi looked when all he'd done was throw something together, Nadry was a bit afraid to know what he would look like if he were actually trying. Deeply curious, yes, but it was difficult enough as it was to find a polite middle ground between staring and just not looking at him. Which would have been a beautiful solution, if she could have stood to be that impolite. And of course he had to keep on with his well-spoken compliments, deepening the color in her cheeks while she hoped that the floor might be merciful enough to swallow her up and get her out of this. Not that she didn't like the flattery, oh, she did, but she was at a loss as to what to do with it. No one else had ever been so open or effusive with such compliments, and she was torn between hope that he really did mean them, and certainty that he was just being a nice. An especially charming sort of nice. When she managed to get the words together, she echoed Ichta's sheepishness with a duck of her head and a small smile. "I...wouldn't know what to do with a gaggle of men, so it's probably for the best." Especially if any of them were anything at all like C'lusi. One was enough. When the older bronzerider made his appearance, she was half concerned and half relieved, although the concern lessened somewhat when she realized which bronzerider had approached them. She'd never met him, of course, but it was hard to be oblivious to who the Weyr's wingleaders were, and this one was Illa's, which placed him easily and fairly securely into a 'can probably trust' category. Not only did he have a female brownrider as his Wingsecond, he had the female brownrider, as far as Nadry was concerned. He didn't get the same curtsy that C'lusi had, but he did get a respectful nod and a polite smile as she collected her thoughts. Again. Neither bluerider gave a firm answer as to whether they wanted to join him; C'lusi left it to her and Ichta, and Ichta leaned in a little closer to her. There was an urge to reach for her hand, but she stifled it and nodded. Whether she wanted to dine with the bronzerider or not (and to be honest, she didn't have a straight answer for herself), courtesy would win out and the invitation would be accepted, especially once a thought from Menankith revealed that he was scoping them out as potential recruits. "If Ichta and C'lusi don't mind, I certainly don't. Might Illa be joining us?" It was a hopeful question she couldn't help but ask. Given half a chance, she'd be spending her Weyrlinghood following the woman about like a puppy. Who needed V'mel's lessons when there was someone so much better to look to and learn from? Menankith, upon realizing through His that the bronze speaking to him was of Illa and Fenrith's wing, became much more receptive to his company. His tone became warmer and less guarded, and the yellow worked its way out of his eyes. He didn't even take offense when Macuith took Ironith up on his offer and settled himself against the bronze. I promised Mine a very long time ago that she would soar, he shared. It did seem ages ago now, when he had felt his Nadry touch his shell, but he would never forget it. I look forward to finally fulfilling that promise.Zenobiath up on her perch, soon joined by Aresoth after the bronze deigned to greet Cynosuth before moving on to the most important of them all, was more or less ignored as he kept his attention fixed where it belonged, with his chromatic clutchmates and friends. Several of whom were missing, but encouraged by R'gan, the brown sent a thought paired with the image of them all to his darkest blue brother, Will you not join us, Basanuth? And, in case it might help to motivate him, There is a Wingleader here looking to take stock of the Weyrlings.Menankith hummed affectionately and, with Macuith having gone to Ironith's side, shifted closer to Aurinkoth and, by extension, Cynosuth. Perhaps Elzebuth is taking his time before he joins us, he speculated. Surely this was something his fellow brown would wish to attend? Though maybe His would rather not... Hm. In the meantime, he would enjoy being the lone brown of the bunch, and where he belonged as opposed to resting apart and on high.

Fortunately, Nadry did not have long to wonder. The woman herself had been monitoring the impromptu feast for a time, but when she took note of where her Wingleader had settled, Illa strode through the crowd to say hello to her favorite weyrlings. Wonderful set of kids, those. Female Brown and Blueriders, and not at all ashamed of their status! It did the mercenary's heart good to see a young generation carrying on their proud name.
Menankith, good evening. And to you as well, young Aurinkoth, Macuith, and Cynosuth. The large Brown was settled outside, his gaze on the horizon, as if at any point attackers might approach. But he turned whirling blue green eyes upon the young ones, sending them a wave of approval and welcome.
"Sir." Illa gave the traditional salute, settling at a parade rest as she came to stand near the small gathering. "Nadry, it's good to see you and Menankith in fine form. Been keeping up with your lessons?" Glancing around the group, she made note of who seemed to need bolstering, and who was doing just fine without it. "It's Ichta, isn't it? Your boy is looking fit." A credit to the girl and her efforts in training. Ah yes... and there he was, the picture of confidence. "C'lusi. My Fenrith tells me that your Macuith is quite the little charmer."

Wingleader G'er and Bronze IronithIronith thrummed thoughtfully as Begath posed his questions, eyes whirling slowly before he made a sort of deep click sounded and lowered his head so the blue and he were nose to nose. Mine would very much like to speak to Yours if they want... and as for tears from the stars, there is wisdom in yours words. You may just be right, Begath, I am impressed. If you learn the truth of the matter, please tell me! The bronze seemed completely earnest as he complimented the other's wisdom, preferring the romantic nature of weeping stars to a leaking sky.
When Monath snorted and spoke of her plans for another wing, Ironith merely rumbled apprecitively, Then that is a good sign, I like to see ambition and drive in the young ones. If you find yourself unsure, though, Tsunami Wing rewards those with such traits. The bronze's response was warm, respectful as he shifted his gaze from Begath to Monath.
The absolute pleasure that visibly blossomed in Macuith as he was invited to sit with Ironith was not lost on the bronze and he trilled happily when the blue lounged beside him, shifting a bit so that the weyrling was nicely framed by the bronze's limbs. I would be fool to pass on your company, wouldn't I? There was a soft mental laugh as the bronze gently booped the top of Macuith's head then lifted his head to glance around.
Then Aurinkoth spoke up and Ironith chuckled in response, [colror=#D4C95F]Soft, observant, and good are all honourable traits. Yours intrigues Mine, he has noticed yours blossoms with support and is interested to see how much she can achieve given the means and opportunity. There was a definite sense of approval from the bronze as he skimmed G'er's thoughts. If nothing else, the wingleader had a reputation for looking past gender or colour for the skills and attributes he desired most in his wing.
The bronze gave another nod, And Menankith has also caught his attention, for her loyalty and dedication.
Ironith noted when the yellow faded from Menankith's eyes and rumbled pleasantly. That is good, I am sure you will soar far and wide. Yours has done much to ensure you are in good health. The bronze's amusement deepened as the brown invited others with the lure of recruitment. Good, that was what he hoped would happen.
He shook a wing a bit, addressing Begath, Monath, Aurinkoth, Menankith, and the others present, You are welcome beneath my wing as well, there is plenty of room still. It was to miss the mild edge of hope in those words – he liked nothing more than collecting small dragons to his side, though he favoured greens he did adore blues and browns, too... of course, if Zenobiath chose to grace him with her presence, the bronze would never rebuff a Queen.
When brown Fenrith made his presence known, Ironith bugled a greeting to his Wingsecond, pleased to see the other had decided to join... and if he was here, so was Illa. Good!
_+_+_+_+_+_
G'er nodded formally in turn when C'lusi greeted him, smiling as he took the other in. C'lusi, the smooth-talking, handsome bluerider he'd heard spoke poetic flattery to anyone willing to listen. Such a suave individual was bound to go places – few were completely immune to such pretty words. “Very thoughtful, my friend, and fine ladies they are...”
The wingleader's attention then shifted to Ichta and Nadry, “Such potential as yours is uncommon. I am glad you walk with pride for Yours.” G'er chuckled as Ichta's preference for women, nodding, “All the more men for the rest of us then! You'll understand well enough one day, Nadry, whomever catches your attention. There's no need to rush, really. Some are just more amorous than other.”
His gaze followed hers out the door to where Ironith was currently entertaining a gaggle of weyrlings and he smiled fondly, “Yes, yes they do grow quickly... but as much as they grow, some things just don't change. The big bronze there, that's Ironith. He's an incorrigible flirt and has been since day one.” G'er's gaze softened when Ironith looked up when he felt his rider looking his way, the bronze's eyes whirling blues and greens with happiness.
As Nadry answered, apparently accepting his request, G'er's expression lit up and he bowed a little, “Thank-you. Shall we then?” He slipped over to a table and stood formally waiting for the others to seat themselves before sitting down.
Then she asked about Illa and his eyes lit up – ah but he was proud of his Wingsecond. The woman had fought hard for her position and, far as he was concerned, completely deserved it. “I don't see why she wouldn't drop by – everyone got the summons.”
Almost as if she'd been watching them the entire time, Illa showed at the perfect time and G'er grinned as she broke into their conversation. “Illa,” He greeted back, saluting her in turn, “We were just about to dine together, you're welcome to join us if you like. Weyrlings, this is Tsunami Wingsecond Illa of Brown Fenrith, my comrade.”

Shards. Tassiel took what felt like a candlemark to close his gaping mouth. He stared for a long moment. “Shards, Bekah, you’re beautiful,” he stared a moment longer before shaking his head, as if to clear it. He’d never seen anyone so stunning in his twenty turns.
He offered her his hand. “Allow me to escort you to the dining hall,” he said. He wished he’d brought something for her. A plate of pastries, some flowers, anything... But then, she knew how he felt about her. He could give her something later tonight. Maybe they could steal away from the festivities and watch the snow fall together, while staying inside near a fireplace.
“I thought the snow was beautiful, but it’s nothing compared to you.” ...he’d have to buy her a dress for turnover. She was gorgeous.

Weyrling Jynnat and Blue BegathJynnat stopped for a glass of hot cider to keep her fingers warm. She drifted over to listen to the musicians. Quiet and restful, she found the music tonight. It was a nice change from always seeming to rush. Hello hello Zenobiath! What do you think of the weather? Begath paused to consider Monath's contribution on the subject of the weather. That's not a bad idea Monath. The young blue felt it was a really good idea, but he was disappointed he hadn't thought of it first. He would have added more flourish to it. Begath gave a soft meep at Macuith for his nuzzle. He wasn't ready to settle down yet! Jynnat was slightly distracted by her blue's churning thoughts. Let it rest, Begath. The snow is just what the weather does when it's cold, instead of raining. Begath blew a mental raspberry at his, which caused her to laugh. Jynnatmine, Ironith says his would like to speak to you tonight if you want. They are looking at the weyrlings. Begath arched his neck under the bronze's praise. I will look into it most closely Ironith!Ah, so it was that time already? Jynnat hadn't really considered which wing she'd like to fly in, since she'd been so busy with just Begath growing. But now it was almost time, and the Wingleaders were mingling to side up the new possible riders. Well she supposed she'd make an effort. Thank you Begath, I will stop to talk to him.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Candidate MakimtonMakimton found a nice girl that was hanging out by the wall and asked her for a dance. He grinned when she agreed and set her out for a quick step. At least he could brighten someone's night tonight. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Rider Ly'bur and Brown HinburathThis whole "party" was turning into a bit of a drag for him. Ly'bur leaned back in his seat and watched the others mingle through slitted eyes. None of it was of real particular interest to him. He did note that there were some Wingleaders circling among the weyrlings. Scoping out the new offerings eh? He watched to see which weyrlings got special treatment. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Candidate NalackoShe knew the weyrlings were anticipating their first flights. Nala hoped R'gan and Bas did well. She tried a variety of the food that was set out. Waiver Begath replied to Ironith

R'gan and Basanuth
"We're working on him." R'gan promised her. In fact, Menankith seemed to be on the case at that very moment. "I'm excited." he said about the paired flights. "I can't wait to take you up too." But it would be a while still before they were experienced enough to feel safe taking passengers. Now that they were being to paired flights, weyrling training was about to get a lot more dangerous. Though he was confident in his and Basanuth's abilities, it wasn't wondering they could risk anyone's life on but their own.
Basanuth stirred at the sound of his brother's voice. The disturbance was not an unwelcome one. Indeed, he was rarely bothered by a request of his siblings, least of all his dear brother Menankith, though it did sometimes require patience if they came while he was trying to work. As he was only sleeping, he sent back a warm rumble, full of appreciation for his brother's thoughtfulness, and also his concern. If we stand outside in the cold all night we may get ill, my brother, and what will we do then? he said with a soft chuckle, contentedly warm inside their room.
Menankith's next comment was indeed interesting. His tail started to twitch, the cogs of his mind already waking up and starting to turn. Our abilities should stand on their own merit. It should not be necessary to pander to wingleaders in order to get ahead. Not that he was reproaching Menankith. He knew he and his brother were of the same mind when it came to their desire for change. He just had a straightforward and forceful way of speaking. And the old 'boys club' mentality surrounding the bronzes and browns was just part of the problem.
Hang on now, Bas. You remember Fenrith and Illa from feast, don't you? R'gan said, jumping to the brown's aid. Hmm? Basanuth lifted an eye. He did, in fact. The brown, he recalled, had been surprisingly supportive and liked-minded in their ideals. Like Menankith's, he had bucked tradition and chosen a female rider. Well, Ironith is her wingleader. Is that so? he said, interested finally piqued. To look beyond convention and choose that pair for their talents alone spoke greatly of his character. This seemed like someone he would like to meet. Very well.. Perhaps I will go after all. R'gan was always urging him to socialize more with his siblings.
Realizing that he'd zoned out while talking to Basanuth, R'gan looked back down at his friend that he'd been protective of since childhood. He could see the tension in her shoulders with her father so close by. He felt bad too, that he hadn't been around as much anymore. But tonight, at least, he could make sure she had enough fun to forget about everything. Taking her hand, he spun her around playfully. "What do you want to do?" he asked her with a bright grin. "Should we dance? Or do you want to eat first? You should meet the other weyrlings too. I think some of their dragons are outside. If you want to see them, Bas is on his way out now."
Joining the others outside, Basanuth trilled a warm greeting to them all. Hello, my siblings. he said, stopping beside Menankith to nuzzle the brown fondly. What are we all talking about?

Kinyegele"There's no need for that yet! Let's give them a little while longer. It's cold and sometimes it's harder to get out when you're cold, right?" Though it seemed most people on a dragon were already there. The Weyrlings from the last hatching were still trailing in, however. Goodness, they all got so big so fast! Certainly she'd seen that all dragons eventually got rather large, but this was more than rather. "Besides, it will be the first time all three of us sisters have been in a room together in what feels like forever once she gets here and I'd rather enjoy that a little first." Not that a mother with children and coordinating her life a little would be there in 10 seconds. But Kinye would pretend any moment Ash walked in would only be 10 seconds away from that very moment. "We can dance or eat first! Then I can go hunt down any familiar faces if I see them yet!"
