FIRE STORM WING
=Flying FIRST Wave=
Amna of White Zunulth
Round 1 - Hour 1 - Low Elevation
11 – 8 – X – X – X
X – X – X – X – X
HAS Remove Fatigue Effect to use!
Roll: 8 - Your dragon dives for a strand of thread that has fallen through the upper wings. Right before they belch forth their flame, they suddenly jerk hard to the right, almost in a roll, and quite unexpectedly. Sure enough, a gust of wind would have whipped the thread back in their face! Instead, the strand whips by, and your dragon is able to successfully flame it. [+1 Instinct]
HP: 17/17
Status Effect: None.
XP: Instinct +1

Aha! Something to do! A lone silver strand that had trickled through caught the white's eye, and true to his deft and agile nature, he dove after it. Even in the face of the wind's sudden shift, his lightning-like speed let him weave out of danger with ease. Then, one quick shaft of flame was all it took to clear the skies.

Shahera and Therianth had started off vigilant and focused. Still, a mind could only keep that up for so long when things were going well no matter the training they had. It was as they started to relax just slightly...

Another! As if time were replaying itself, once more Zunulth dove, and then ducked away as the wind toyed with a lone strand of thread. He burned it just as easily as the last, of course, before sliding back into position with his wing.

Garganth's eagerness was almost enough to even infect his steady, stoic rider--almost. The big bronze was paying careful attention--and a burst of flame from his open mouth was enough to incinerate a small bit of Thread that had escaped from the higher altitudes.

OR you can keep it and blame it on a faulty bag, or some other excuse for being without stone. Call for one of the weyrlings to send you another sack of stone!

Of course, after flaming as much, they needed more stone. Another trouble with fighting for a white dragon was that they were so slight as to not be able to carry as much along with their rider. It was only a matter of hailing a retired rider to bring her up a new pouch. She loosed the old bag and slung on the new one, already weaving back into line to battle on.

The wind was fierce enough to even have Garganth notice--and that moment of distraction was what cost him. The bronze bellowed with agony as thread began to devour through his flesh, blinking Between. Even once they reemerged, the burn was still enough to cause the dragon to shudder, and M'lus' knuckles were white.

Quote:
Oh no, look out! A small clump of thread broke through the ranks, and has managed to hit your and your dragon. It is an ugly tangle, and though you blink between, it's going to hurt! [Moderate Damage -5 HP. You are now flying with a Painful status effect. This will negate your next immediate rolls XP and double damage if the roll includes set damage (or has you roll for damage).

...when the wind picked up and pushed Therianth out of formation. It wasn't one of those slight slips either. Therianth quickly got back into place but it had jolted both of the females back into alertness. At least it was just wind. Therianth mumbled. This time.

Grimacing, M'lus realized that the clump of thread had hit one of their firestone bags. He had Garganth call, and soon enough, someone zipped close enough to toss a bag. The big man saluted, and Garganth relayed their thanks before they were focused back on the task at hand.

Just as they regained their position a falling clump sailed into range, and, freshly reloaded, they were able to sear it before it could fall to Pern and ravage the land below.

Something seemed.... off. On a whim, M'lus checked over his shoulder--just to see tendrils of Thread dangerously close to Garganth's left side. His dragon needed no further instruction, immediately vanishing Between and reappearing just above where they'd been. He thumped the bronze's shoulder hard, and felt the resulting wave of delight.

Quote:

Thankfully, your dragon shares your thoughts, and is able to blink Between and higher above their position, missing the strand, and saving yourself from a score. [+1 Instinct]

Their new position made it easy to flame down the Thread from before, and Garganth didn't hesitate to do so. No one else would have to be blindsided and accidentally scored...

Therianth and Shahera were keeping their eyes peeled as the wind seemed to be settling down a little for them. Therianth caught a glimpse of a clump of thread in her left eye. There.
