Today was going to be a very odd day fighting thread, she could already feel it in both of their bones.

While they were both doing fine and were managing to miss bags of falling fire stone while stressing about Susurinth's children, Pavari wasn't letting anything get away from her. But the little gold she was strapped two jerked and let some of the ash from thread hit her broadside instead of her delicate head. I'm sorry lovely!

Given that they were already quite skilled from a life of hopping between to randomly run to and fro across Pern, it was nothing for Susurinth to follow the very clear directions her rider sent, the thread searing up to nothing from the flamethrower in Pavari's hands as they appeared beside it instead of being hit. It was a heavy day.

One thing that they could say was that the wind was brutally strong so far. It was maybe why there was so much damage being doled around. So many hurt and already one fallen. Susurinth managed to catch her huge wings under the wind and pull herself back into formation when it threatened to blow her about like a piece of cloth. Pavari smiled gently and sent an encouraging thought to her. There would be time to worry later when it was all over.

Pemli and Gold Ningesth (Queen's Wing, Full Flight)

Pemli had listened dutifully to the speech that came from their Weyrleader, before she climbed on Ningesth. She took a calming breath, hoping that today would not be as bad as it looked. Once they were given the command, she had Ningesth take to the skies and blinked to the coordinates they had been given. Where the pair was, all seemed a little quiet, while some of their wingmates seemed to be in trouble. Not only that, but she was sure she heard a keen from above, which Ningesth seemed to add her own to.

We lost a bronze and his rider, we should be up there! How can we be of any help down here?Ningesth complained. She made sure her rider knew it was not their mates, so that she wouldn't worry.

We have an important job, Ningesth. We are the last line of defense, before it destroys things below us. P'kav and Dharmath will be mourned,Pemli reassured, stroking her gold's neck gently.

Pemli and Gold Ningesth (Queen's Wing, Full Flight)

She wasn't sure if it was trying to focus her dragon on the task on hand or what, but Pemli barely noticed a piece of Thread sneaking past. She instructed Ningesth in that direction as quickly as she could, her flamethrower at the ready in her hands. Unfortunately, they weren't quick enough and the thread fell out of their reach. The girl felt like crying, she should have had it, now others could be in trouble. She felt horrible, hoping so much the ground crew will be able to find it when Threadfall was over.

We did the best we could, you can't be so hard on yourself. We will get the next one. Plus we will mark down where we saw it falling, so the crew can find it easier,Ningesth thought to her rider.

Pemli soon got to make up for that missed thread, as she caught a stray stand our of the corner of her eye. No, she wasn't going to miss this one..she couldn't. She turned quickly in her seat and pulled the trigger on her flamethrower, destroying it before it could escape.

See, told you,came a slightly smug comment from the gold. Of course, it was wrapped in love for her rider, knowing how hard she was on herself.

Pemli and Gold Ningesth (Queen's Wing, Full Flight)

Pemli kept her eyes open for any more Thread that might have slipped past the higher altitudes. That is when she and Ningesth spotted one of their wingmates in trouble and knew they had to do something. She called out to them, hoping they would hear her.

Be careful, you two!Ningesth called over to them. Both her and her rider looked relieved as the pair seemed to manage to get out of harm's way.

Just after they managed to help one of their wingmates, Pemli noticed another stray strand of Thread out of the corner of her eye. Just like the one from earlier, she was determined to burn this one too. She she turned in her seat to face it and aimed her flamethrower at it. Pushing the trigger, flame leapt from the weapon and scorched it.

Excellent work, Mine. Your nerves just got the best of you before, now you have your rhythm,Ningesth beamed.

Ky'ra and Gold Zultoloth

Like a fool, Ky'ra let her guard down for a moment, and Zultoloth paid the price. Squealing in pain, the little queen sought Ky'ra's guidance - and the pair disappeared between. Faranth, Faranth, that hurt! When they reappeared, they were both worse for the wear, but poor Zultoloth had taken the brunt of it.

Well, not much is happening. Either the Wings are doing their job, or things are mighty quiet. You know your thoughts shouldn't wander or stray.... but you look away for a moment, stretching your neck, and resettling yourself on your dragons back. Unfortunately, things happen quickly. Your dragon lets out a shriek of pain as you're hit with Thread! You hadn't seen it fall from behind, too far back from where your dragon could see. Roll a D4 for Damage!
1. It's a nasty tangle that gets over you and your dragon! Though they pop Between, it's caught part of their wingsail, and may have burrowed into their sensitive stomach and side. Better hope the cold of Between gets all of it! Major damage -10 HP

2. It's not a fun wound, and boy does it ever hurt! Moderate Damage -7 HP

3. Thankfully, it's not as bad as you thought. It burns and hurts, but it served more as a warning than anything else. Minor Damage -4 HP

4. It's nothing but a flesh wound! In fact, your dragon was able to pop Between swiftly, so the damage is, quite frankly, nothing more than a graze. Minor Damage: -1 HP

Out of the corner of her eye, Ky'ra spotted a strand of thread that had escaped the fighting wings. With a jubilant warble, Zultoloth watched as her rider's flamethrower charred it from existence.
