Following a bow to Killakeeth that might have lasted a little too long, Rykin approached the Candy Cane Egg at the edge of the group. Despite the excitement in his heart, he was in no particular hurry, and he gave the warm shell a light tap before kneeling and resting his palm on its surface. He tried to exude welcoming thoughts. This was still weird.

Bren wound his way between the eggs, making all of the gestures expected of him, but touching nothing. He wasn't afraid to speak to the dragonets, he was just looking for the perfect one to start with, at least until a cream-colored shell positively bounced into his outstretched hand.
Oh, um, hello? he thought at the Eggshell Egg. You're very lively. He hastily pulled the happiest thing he could think of at the moment into his mind, so as not to upset the creature. Shiny river stones, bright brown and green. He had collected them, once upon a time, before his collection had become too heavy to travel with.

Flying Purple Heart Egg The egg would send a beam of sunshine at Nuamia. Hello! HELLO. Hi. Is it doing this right? IT IS THE FIRST TIME IT HAS BEEN TOUCHED. Oh. Is that too loud? Too strong? Too much? It's still getting used to this Touching thing, but it's trying its best!
Night Sky Egg: Allamor would be sent the equivalent of a smirk and find himself shrouded with good-feelings and confidence. Awww yeah. That's right. You found yourself at the main event... Right here. Isn't it a great egg? You should say as much, really. Its waiting.

Bone Egg: As with everyone that touched it, the egg would give a sharp touch in return to Vitryx. The egg would stare long and hard at the other before giving a curt greeting in return. A flash of sharp encouragement, keep up that quiet strength, before it would turn back to those who came after.
Night Sky Egg: The egg practically trembles beneath Bukichi's fingers. Oh yeah? The very first? Well this egg better be ever-so-impressive. Get it? The joke? Night Sky Egg is going to make sure this First-Timer is going to remember it! Just take it from this egg-- YOU'RE THE MAN! You're a superstar! Especially because you have the best taste to start with this best egg! Bukichi would indeed be pelted with another wave of unadulterated confidence and pleasure. Don't you forget Night Sky Egg now, even when you touch others shells!
Teal & Yellow Spiral Egg Oh sweet Faranth, that is definitely the spot! Wren was met with nothing but pleasure and joy, as the egg seems to melt into the touch. Was it all right? Baby, you better keep on touching this egg, because this is definitely where the egg wants you to be! Don't let anyone bring you down. You're doing great. Sure enough, the egg would lean into Wren's touch, sending nothing but pleasure to the young man.
Candy Cane Egg: The egg would reach out to brush its touch against Rundanrul's mind, sending a shroud of confidence and assurance over the others. The egg certainly has plans to meet everyone.. and this egg is more than happy to be given such good attention. You can keep on touching, after all. No reason to stop or hurry on your way.
Night Sky Egg: If Kateleel was at all worried, Night Sky Egg didn't notice. Instead, the man was hit hard with a wave of joy and pleasure. Why hellooooo! Welcome to the Best Egg, step right on up. No reason to be shy or afraid; no reason to worry. Nobody had told it that its shell was pretty. Kateleel is pretty awesome too! And such good egg taste! Tell it again how pretty its shell is...
Charcoal Egg The egg would study Aryale for a moment, a flicker of curiosity and patience brushing over the girl. The egg would lean against her touch. It would give no answer, though, ever quiet and thoughtful. This egg wasn't one much to talk.
Teal & Yellow Spiral Lauthisen would be hit hard with all the pleasure that it was receiving from the others who touched its shell. It. Felt. Amazing. Surely, this one agrees. Does Lauthisen like to feel real good too? A little to right, thanks... Oh yeah. Right there. A+.
Purple Flying Heart Egg Lelte would be met with nothing but bright, happy vibes. Oh It is a very special day, yes! It was being a great egg, wasn't it? A good egg. A big egg. Is it doing a good job as an egg? Should it wiggle more? Stand taller? Roll? Hopefully, Lelte is having as good a time as this egg!
Bone Egg The bone egg would hit Melhaika with a spark of sharpness, but once again, would pull back-- a little. There was judgment in the egg as it observes the distant other. Independence is well and fine, but you will go no where on your own. Keep yourself too hidden and how will Yours find you? No one will hurt you, Candidate, but you might well doom yourself if you're not careful. Beware.
Flying Heart Egg: Oh!! Oh another one! Rio would find himself being studied and his warmth returned. HELLO! YOU HAVE REACHED THE EGG! What did it think? Was it a good experience? Does the egg feel harder yet? Is it time to hatch? It wants to hatch and will hatch...but maybe not yet. But soon! DO NOT FEEL SAD! THIS EGG IS EGGING... RIO IS GOOD AT CANDIDATING. GOOD JOB! Such experience and skill! Be proud!

Candidate Aelyx : Western : She/Her
Oh, that sweet darling. She sent the most soothing sensation of warmth that she could to the little egg. Of course it was overwhelmed...Aelyx wasn't so terribly fond of people either. It was given every little bit of love and support that she could give it, for Daisy Egg was thoroughly just fine the way it was. Another wave, and she moved to the Candy Cane egg to touch its shell.
Candidate Wren : Western : He/Him
Oh YES. Wren was all about this egg. Fingers moved over the shell, gently reaching out to the being inside. Yes, pleasure, Wren knew, and Pleasure was something he enjoyed. Why not take it all in, for there was so much life had to offer! Faranth, it was why he had his tattoo, it was why he had his life styled just the way he liked it. What was the Teal and Yellow Spiral Egg's pleasure? Wren just HAD to know!

Feeling a small dragon presence touch his own mind for the first time was far greater than anything Rundanrul had ever learned about in his classes, that was for sure. As confident as he was, the feeling shook the boy a bit and he wanted nothing more than to sit in the sand beside the egg and keep his hand on its shell, listening to whatever it had to say. Despite his desires, Rundanrul knew the rules. He wasn't going to get booted out of his first chance at finding his companion by disobeying a very easy rule to follow.
Lots of reasons, actually, he thought to the dragon within the egg as he stood, glancing over at all the other eggs that lay around. Many reasons. Over thirty, in fact. He let the various auras coming off the egg guide him across the sands to stand before the rather average sized Brown Paw Print Egg. A little smirk curled his lip at the sensations coming off of it, judgement and a challenge all wrapped up with a condescending bow. Oh, how cute.
Greetings, he said as he put his hand right on the paw print. You seem to be drawing a lot of attention so early in the Touching.

The blast of joy and delight nearly rocked Kateleel right off his feet and it chased away any lingering doubt and worry that had clung to his mind. His whole face lit up with the sensations coming from the egg and he was reminded just how wonderful it is to be out on the sands with the baby dragons. Getting to meet them all had always been a favorite thing of his.
"Thanks," he said with an awkward laugh at the compliment. This was definitely a more enthusiastic dragon than he'd been hoping to meet first, but it was appreciated all the same. Perhaps just a bit narcissistic, too, but everyone had their flaws. He did send the little dragon a mental picture of its shell but left it at that as he moved away, wanting to linger but knowing he'd be in big trouble if he did.
Moving on, Kateleel sought out other friendly eggs that were hopefully a bit less energetic than the Night Sky had been. The Purple and White Swirl Egg caught his eye next and the warm, friendly pull drew him in. Resting his hand on the swirled shell, he crouched down to kneel beside the small egg.
"Hello. You seem very chipper and cheerful," he said softly, sending a little wave of thanks to the baby dragon within. It was nice to know that there were a bunch of well-meaning dragons waiting to hatch.

Was that....boredom? Removing her hand, the teen stepped back to think. Maybe Fisher was just....really bad at this whole Touching thing. Either she wasn't doing it right, or dragonets hated her, but either way the lack of response or the shrug off or whatever she felt had Fisher raising an eyebrow in response. A glance down at her hand, and then the faces of the others around her, prompted an escaped sigh. No need to let it get her down, and no need to let others see it.
The new Candidatemaster and his returned second could lash the kids with just expressions, so there was no point in standing around. Fisher picked her way among the eggs, stopping to decide if she wanted to go, before settling at one she didn't see others about.
A rough but gentle hand was placed on the Nanner Egg, and this time she thought maybe she needed to be better in thinking. I'm glad I'm here, you're lucky to be here. There's a beach, and the surf. She closed her eyes, picturing them. Reminds me of home. Kinda jealous.
Maybe she was really bad at this.

This time was going to be just a little bit, or a lot, different than High Reaches' touching had been for him, as that had been almost too many eggs at once for him to focus on which ones he felt pulling at him. It had been amazing and one heck of a learning experience for certain, his first touching, but here on the Western sands where he'd been Searched. It felt right. Xanael took a deep breath and reminded himself to stay calm, that the anxiety that he felt deep down in his guts at all times would harm the eggs and as Master A'ral said, one wrong move and he'd be thrown out of the Weyr away from his siblings.
Away from a certain lady he was still deeply worried about after her last threadfall. It had taken a lot to smash down his worries and anxious feelings about her safety.
He'd stood last in the line of Candidates for a reason, as they entered the sands and started to spread out, he lingered for just a moment back away, taking in all the eggs before him and steeling himself before he moved. Gently he placed one calloused hand on the Blue Cloud Egg. Was it okay with all the quiet murmurs he was hearing?

The presence inside the egg withdrew quite suddenly from Aerden, as if startled. After a moment, its odd muttering picked up again, then stopped as the infant began to rifle through the man’s thoughts. Lots of interesting stuff there, and it was just going to delve right in. Hmm… What’s that mean? Surely the answer was there, somewhere.
