i've never understood why someone would take drugs....they aren't good for your health, they don't give you any kind of actual benifiets of any kind. and most people only try them because their friends told them to, and worst part, they'll put you in the ground faster.
if you do drugs, whatever, i know some tokers....but i myself would rather not, and i'm getting tired of people saying i look like a stoner because i have long hair....
why is long hair synonymous with pot smoking?

Why play video games? Why eat junk food? We do these things, knowing they aren't actually good for anything, because they make us feel good and make us happy, if only for a bit. They have a negative image because most people can't believe that there is such thing as moderated, responsible use, even though there are millions of people around the world who practice it everyday. The Chinese civilization used opium for centuries, creating one of the oldest and most sophisticated cultures to date. Only when the British came in and flooded the market did it lead to their downfall.
Also: long hair is associated with the hippie movement, which is associated with drug use.

I work in a hospital, so I see first hand the effects of drugs and smoking. It's never pretty.

I case people here don't know, the term for most of the people who have posted here (including me) is Straight Edge. That is a person who does not drink alcohol, smoke, or do any other drugs. but a person doesn't have to live there whole life as straight edge to be one, they just have to quit if they do any of the activities mentioned earlier. there are many people who become straight edge only after something goes terribly wrong from one of those activities.

I smoke weed at least twice a day, and I don't understand WHY people care so much. It isn't like we're making you take any, or killing people, it is only weed.
Weed here is about as common as beer, and no one gives a s**t if you do it. Infact, weed is better for you than tobacco is, and I hear no one ragging on smokers. Just because something is illegal doesn't mean it isn't right.
I got accepted into University, I graduated high school, not everyone who does drugs is some lowlife who lives in a shack. People just assume that all 'drugs are bad.' I admit, some do a lot of harm, but we put foriegn substances into our bodies all the time.
Like I said, just because it is illegal, doesn't mean it is bad. If you are against drugs, stop taking Tylonal for your headaches. What do you think it is.

Just as a safety issue, for those who do partake and read this thread, smoking anything puts a great deal of carcinogens, CO, and CO2 into your lungs, which will most assuredly be bad for you. Tobacco just has a great deal more bad stuff than marijuana. If you want THC, I recommend highly that you vaporize or mix it into food (or both) to just get the THC without any of the more harmful substances.
Also, just as a reminder when using any mind altering substance: know your limits, do it with friends, and do it in private.

I need prescription drugs. and its because of those drugs that have side-effects that I can't drink or smoke pot, cause people said they had a really bad trip. I guess I'm just a woos, cause I like smokers, smoking is sexy, I don't care who you are. But I can't myself... sweatdrop

I guess I'm lucky because I am a very independent person. You can't listen to other people who are just going to tell you you need to smoke or drink to fit their idea of what should be cool. Plus, I'm allergic to smoke, even if it is only the guy outside of the mall as I'm walking in, I start coughing. I can't imagine how anyone could breath that in on purpose! No matter whether it's drugs or smoking, it's damaging your health and your life. I just won't do that.

I suffer from nausea and headaches around second hand smoke... >.<;; That's why I don't smoke or do any other kind of drugs. Being to too close to smoke from any smoked drug (tobbaco, weed, etc.) makes me physically ill.
Why would I do something that makes me sick, even if I inhale indirectly? I can't help it, I didn't choose to make my body that way.

Mkay. lets get a couple of things straight here.
If we're going to talk about the dangers of drugs, please, PLEASE declassify marijuana as a drug for that time being. IT IS NOT DANGEROUS. IT IS LESS DANGEROUS THAN CIGARETTES.
Also, if you have never such smoked a joint / gotten high off weed, do not state that you do not understand why anybody would do it. Because you wouldn't, would you? If you've been living a sober life, all your life, what the hell kind of a clue do you have?
I will agree. The dangers of drugs (remember my lesson above) are EXTREME, coming from a family where both parents were alcoholics and my father was a drug addict, and my brother became addicted to both crack cocaine and ecstasy, and still faces issues with alchohol today. My suggestion is to stay as far away from concentrated substances as possible. This includes, needles, pills, syrups, blotters, dusts, crystals, etc.
But WEED????????? how dare you. I choose to slowly deteriorate my lungs. it's WORTH IT.
If you think you don't gain anything from smoking weed, you've never smoked it. And if you have, then you either didnt use it for the right reasons and didn't get the full effects of what you could controllably do, or weed doesn't mix well with you and you get adverse effects such as [extreme] paranoia (we all get a bit paranoid), sickness (eat something before smoking it), or overly tripping out...
When you use marijuana, you further expand your mind... Your train of thought alters, you do not think in a straight line like you do when you are sober. You think in waves I like to think of it... you start off on a wave, which you can also consider... a Thought. You then sink into the wave... going deeper and deeper into this thought then you would normally, considering, this thought could be absolutely anything, like the dumbest thing in the world, then you slowly bring yourself out of the wave, coming onto a new thought. It's also awesome to have someone else there with you to share these thoughts with. You basically gain new perspectives on certain topics, and can think of it in a more creative way that helps your mind build on those thoughts, and you become more aware of those things in the sober world.
Uhm, yeah. any other drug just don't do. I've done'm all , seriousely, there comes a point where the mental advantages arent worth the side effects, and there are other points where it just strains your mind, or does damage to it...
(acid is amazing)

V For V I don't use drugs because my mind is capable the way it is. I consider most drug-users to be weak along with alcoholics and cutters. Alright I know that this was at the beginning of the thread but I had to reply to this no matter what. You consider drug users, alcoholics and cutters to be weak? Before you condemn don't you think that you should know something about them? You've just said that over half the population is weak without knowing anything about them as people. Everyone needs an escape, and these people have found ways to make their more difficult lives easy, at least in their own minds, and at least the alcoholics and drug users. I will admit that I might be biased because I've had problems with all of these things before. But you probably have never had those problems have you? Someone with an easy life quick to condemn others who do all they can not to kill themselves. I've had a rough life. And because of that I've dealt with depression, and apathy. I did all of these things because I wanted to start to feel like I used to. And for a while most of it did help. And cutting? There is a history to that as well. Self mutilation such as tattoos peircings and cutting, was used in ancient civlizations as a way to purge sin through pain, so before you start waving your finger around and telling people that they are weak, know all of the facts. And for God's sake, don't discriminate, it makes me sick, and yes what you are doing IS discrimination because you just classified and lumped people into a pile- "weak" -because of their personal choices regarding what makes them either A) Forget about why their life is horrible or B) Purge themselves of past sin. Do not pass judgement on people you've never met because they do drugs, or drink, or cut themselves. Such minor physical things are above your level of thinking.

daisytruck I love how people now use the excuse of not wanting to smoke because they don't want to conform like some sheep. I think that's what makes you a tool; not wanting to do something because you think it's the thing to do amongst your peers. I partake in recreational activities because I love to experiment with new things, and I love the variation in perception my mind plays on the simple things around me. Not because it's the "in" thing. It's not even such. Wahh, I put my fist in my mouth because my friends told me to, just like they told me to do pot. I guess you should believe the commercial because there's a boy and you can relate to him. Wow, John Ritter was really fat before he died. haha... I can put my fist in my mouth and it won't get stuck... I don't do drugs, because I don't want to end up like my mom...
