Once Ddraigth was able to overcome the winds, the bronze let out a belch of flame, destroying the Thread in front of him. Dr'stan turned his head, watching his wing and wingleader, keeping tabs, or trying to, on everything that was going on.

A bugle of warning came from a wingmate nearby as some Thread was blown up towards them. Ddraigth went between but was not quick enough to keep it from wrapping around his tail. Luckily it was killed and frozen as soon as they slipped between and the pair returned with the thread falling to the ground.

Dr'stan felt a little sheepish, as did Ddraigth. How had they managed to not notice that piece of Thread changing. They had to be more observant.

    [2]A patch falls down ahead. You dive down, flaming as you go, and both rider and dragon are pleased to watch it turn into harmless ash. This is how it gets done!
    [3]Flaming down Thread, you find yourself getting blown right into the cloud of ash! It stings and burns, but you're pretty sure no Thread was alive in the cloud. [If a brown or bronze, take Minor Damage -2 Damage but gain +1 Pain Resistance.]

    [5]The wind is getting pretty bad. You struggle through, but wind up having to be extra alert for the windblown Thread! This is not a good situation to be in! [Browns and bronzes aren't quite as lucky. They maneuver as they can, but still wind up scored. Minor Damage -2 HP

With that blunder out of the way, fighting continued and Dr'stan sent a push towards Ddraigth. The bronze turned his attention towards one of their wing, seeing large clumps of Thread heading towards them. There was no way he would be able to make it in time to get all of them, though the bronze did try, even as he sent out a warning to them.

His flame caught one of the clumps, thankfully, just as the wingmate disappeared between. At least no one had gotten hurt.

You call out to warn them, and manage to at least catch one clump while your wingmates blink Between. [+1 Target Accuracy]

It was all quiet, which T'at found odd for high Altitude, but it did at least mean that he could keep an eye on the Wing. Being Wingsecond, his job was to be alert....and the silence seemed to do him some good. Nessuth was glad to feel His' mind clearing.

It was like the threadfall with the weyrlings. She was stuck looking up, watching everything above her, and still seeing nothing but flashes of flame and the occasional chunk that fell lower. She wanted to be up there. She wanted to be fighting, to be standing with her dragon's clutchmates....

There again was that strange, sharp pain. Aniela could feel it in her shoulder, the same way Xaphrith was feeling it in his wing joint. Concern wrote itself on her face....That wasn't good at all. Xaph was hurting very badly, but they had to keep going....Had to stay in the air.

.The wind was beginning to howl, and as her beloved twisted and twined.....well. There was a clump of thread that fell hard and fast, and nearly hit them. However, thankfully, Kath was a quick Green. Turning on a dime, the female flamed, belching just enough to knock the clump from the air.

They're not being particularly gentle on you, but you can tell they're quite invested in making sure your wound (or your dragons) heals right! Unfortunately, that's going to take some time. Mishaath had begun trying to get her feet under her, creeling with anxiety and guilt over the fate of her wingmates. She'd seen one of the greens come ferried in on a gold's back, thread-chewed and unconscious. They were fighting, possibly dying up there! ...And she was too tired, to weak to do anything to stop it. Her frame still sagged though, and the healer quickly denied Tyila's request to launch again. 'Just a bit longer' seemed endless when every second counted though.

A few of the youngsters in the queens' wing seemed antsy, and Fianth had had to duck away to carry a fallen green back to Pern. There was no gap left—the golds were better than to leave one—but a little extra muscle would not be unwarrented, for a moment at least. Following the direction of his thoughts, Aviroth swung low, angling towards a stray bit of thread in the process. The wind tossed it, but they were not to be deterred. A quick hop between took them right too it, and it fell to ash, leaving a clear path towards the queens' wing.

Roll: 17 - A tangle of Thread manages to slip through! Though you try to get it, you're not fast enough, or aim was way off base. Though it doesn't hurt you and your dragon, you do watch as it makes it through the last line of defense, to fall upon the helpless world below. Crops, plants, animals, and even possibly people are now in danger... you can only hope the ground crews will find the burrow safely once Thread is through.

Of course, nobody was perfect. Not even the very driven ones. A clump fell, and Lestenna swung about to flame it, but the gusts of air, the shifting mount, any number of things left her aim wide. A second and third gout of flame split the air after the clump...but none connected. Shards...note what we're over, Uridith. We'll need a crew later, for sure. Let that be their only miss, then, by Faranth's clutch. Please.

Seeing one of the golds have to catch a thread-riddled green as it fell was not quite what V'tre needed. The pulse of anxiety from him affected Thanoth too, her flame coughing out in a stutter-stop, that meant the thread she burned took a bit longer to cinder, and when they flew through the residue, it still smoldered, making the green and her boy writhe with pain. A pop between cooled it, but it still stung viciously.

The trouble with being a go-getter was that you tended to run out of fuel. The moment did indeed come where V'rind reached into her sacks to find them empty. They had done a good amount of flaming...Well, nothing for it. Thought Krahsujunth snarled at being unable to fight on for the moment, they had no choice. Swooping low, the rider and blue together called out to the circling weyrlings, demanding stone, and demanding it now.

After their last firestone run, Nadry was...a little less enthusiastic when they were called upon to fly some up to a blue from Burning Aces who was running low. The wind had been nasty last time, and she could feel Menankith still stinging from the score. But it was their job, and up they went regardless! Between all the getting blown around and fardles all that Thread (and her arm was grtting sore), her aim was...not the best, and she winced at the result while Menankith sent profuse apologies for distracting them so badly that they were hit by Thread.

They then sulked their way back to formation with the Ashlings.

As the pair dove through high above, flaming down one thick clump of Thread resulted in a sudden shock of pain. The dragon's flame sputtered, and H'sad felt his own leg ache. Before either said anything, the blue disappeared, and the thread turned to ash in the cold of Between.

"You all right?" H'sad asked, reaching down to scratch lovingly at this bright blue's neck.

The dragon warbled happily, though there was a touch of red in his eyes. A bit of anger, just for the insult. It only grazed me. I'm okay, Mine. It's going to take more than that to get me down! And with that, the pair continued their fight.

it didn't take long for another sheet to head their way. See it? H'sad asked, giving one quick glance around to see where their best option was. It was coming too fast for them to hesitate even a moment -- and there would be no outfling this.

I see it! Let's go! While he couldn't dive or dodge, he could blink Between. Where the dragon had hoped he might get a chance to flame it, they appeared too high up.

Oh well. Nothing could be done about it but flame something else in its stead.

A large swath of Thread heads your way! Roll a D4 to see what happens!

1. Critical Failure! The wind changes, and you find yourself blown right into the sheet! You hop Between, but miss your mark, and appear directly inside the writhing mass of silver. Major Damage: -10 HP

2. If you're a green or blue under 30', you're able to successfully twist out of the way, flaming on the way down! You roar in triumph as you turn part of the sheet into harmless ash. +1 Agility If you're a blue 30' or larger, a brown, or a bronze, you're not able to get out harm's way and take a direct hit! Moderate Damage: -7 HP

3. You're able to Between above the sheet, but it's too far to actually flame. Your wingmates below are going to have to take care of it!

4. If you're a green or blue under 30', you go to flame the sheet, but find yourself blown into the Thread cloud by an errant gust! Moderate Damage: -5 HP If you're a blue 30' or over, brown, or bronze, you're able to catch the sheet with a long burst of flame! +2 Flame Length
