((OOC: Aries, Alex and Himheco are kind of hanging around - I believe near a cave somewhere? But anyway, they're chatting. I don't know if anyone else is posting. Which, by the way, if you know anyone who joined and isn't posting, tell them I'm going to start getting rid of extraneous profiles soon, okay?))
Katalina spun and dived, but didn't make it quite far enough. Her tail fin got caught in the net. With a soft curse in her native language - Joshua would not understand it, she hoped - she curled upwards to detangle herself before rejoining him. "There," she said. "Well, now we know what we're dealing with. So what do we do?" She took a bit of net in her hands and began unwinding the knots, apparently not realizing that the men on the boat would probably feel the tug.

A worried look flashed into relief as he saw Katalina get free of the net. "What we need to do is get the net around the propellers." He gestured towards the rear of the boat. "Can we get close enough to do that?" He asked, respecting the fact that she knew more underwater than he did. Suddenly, as if a switch had been flipped, Joshua realized that Katalina was tugging on the net. "No!" He almost ripped the net out of her hands. "That will call attention to the net, making them think something is caught!" But he was too late. Katalina's tugging, combined with Joshua's pull had alerted the crew. The net was beginning to rise up, corners curling inwards to keep the captured in the net.

"Well, there's nothing in there, is there?" Katalina pointed out reasonably. She dived quickly downwards, tugged up a large rock and, swimming back up, dumped it in the net before it got too far. "There, that will explain it," she said, satisfied. "And maybe even rip a hole along the way." Taking Joshua's hand to make him swim faster, she pulled him behind the coral. "We'll wait here, I guess, to see if they send someone down." She flushed a little. "I'm sorry, I wasn't thinking."

"It's okay." Joshua sighed, watching the net rise. He could only wonder what the crew of the ship would think. A net tugging as if there was fish, only to find a rock instead. He looked at Katalina, before giving her a small smile. "If anyone has to say sorry, it's me. I ripped that net away rather rudely. Are your hands okay?" Joshua wanted to be sure that he hadn't hurt the mermaid. A movement in the corner of his eye made him turn from Katalina, though he still listened for her response. Two divers had entered the water, looking around the area where the net had been.

Katalina glanced down at them and shrugged. They were rather red, that was all. "I've had worse," she replied absently. Then she turned her attention carefully towards the divers and shrank further back behind the coral. All the wariness she'd begun to lose due to meeting Joshua came rushing back, and her attention was one hundred percent now on these possible threats. "Are they saying anything?" she whispered.

((Joshua & Katalina are trying to stop an unwanted fisher boat & Aries, Alex and Himheco are kind of hanging around - I believe near a cave somewhere? But anyway, they're chatting. I don't know if anyone else is posting.))
Joshua sighed in relief. So, he hadn't hurt her. That was good news at least. He tried listening for the divers, then realized they were using the channels rather than the speakers as he was. Reaching up, he adjusted the control for the channels on his own suit. Finally he found the right channel. "I don't understand it." The one spoke up. "Me neither. That single rock couldn't have tugged the net that hard." His buddy responded. "Exactly. And if there was any fish at all they would have been caught. But there wasn't a single one!" The only response was a sigh and a command to get back to searching. Joshua flicked off back to speakers so he could talk to Katalina. "So far, they're only talking about the rock you put in it. They're confused as to what caused the pulling. That's why those two were sent down." He jerked a thumb in the direction of the divers. He watched the divers motion to each other. They were coming closer to where the pair was hiding.

((Katalina and Josh are messing with some illegal fishers or something...You can rp with Rosalina if you want))
Rosalina finally let her cousin talk her into not interfering but just telling her uncle. She reluctantly climbed out of the boat once they got back to the island. "You go on home. I'm just going to go to the cove."she told him before heading down the beach to her favorite cove. She sat down on a rock letting her feet hang in the water.

Katalina nodded tersely, her attention fixed on the fishers. "What do we do?" she whispered. "Just let them go back up, or...?" Her eyes were full of a fierce light that showed very rarely on her face. She seemed more than prepared to rid the ocean of these two fishers.
It was a testament to her respect for Joshua that she awaited his suggestions instead of going to deal with the men on her own.

Joshua considered their options carefully. e wasn't one to make rash decisions. "I think..." He spoke carefully. "That if they don't get any closer, we'll leave them alone. It'll keep them wondering what is going on." He watched the divers drift even closer. "But if they get too much closer, something will have to be done." A glanced showed Joshua the expression on Katalina's face. The fierce look was at odds with her graceful features.

The light slowly faded from Katalina's eyes, leaving her with her usual slightly sorrowful expression. After carefully considering his words, she murmured, "All right. But if they get too close..." She said nothing more, but an odd half-smile touched her lips. And why such a simple change of expression should convey an odd sense of menace was a difficult question to answer.

Joshua didn't comment on Katalina's expression as a small chill ran down his back. 'I wonder what all really happened in her past. Whatever would make her so cynical?' Instead, he continued to watch the divers. They were getting a little too close now, or so he though. "I think we're going to need to discourage them from coming farther." He glanced at Katalina. "Considering how long you evaded me," Joshua gave his own little half-smile, though there was nothing menacing in his. "I think you know the area around here a little better than I do. How can we get behind them without being seen? I want to scare them, not hurt them." Despite wanting to protect the waters of the cove, Joshua was a pacifist at heart, not wanting to hurt anyone or anything.

Lucian was snaking on some chocolate candies as he sat on the edge of a cliff that looked over the beautiful ocean. He watched as things took place. He noticed divers, boats, and sensed uneasiness. Popping the remaining candies into his mouth, he pushed himself off the cliff. He fell into the water without making a sound and avoided the sharp rocks underneath. He fought the urge to change into one of his other forms as he swims towards the cave where the divers were.

Katalina managed not to roll her eyes. Joshua, in her opinion, was a little too nice. Who knew how many of the animals of this cove these men had already killed? Resigning herself to not getting the revenge that the animals deserved - for now, at any rate - she gestured. Her voice perfectly even, she whispered, "This way." And she slipped through the coral at a really astounding speed.

Joshua kicked his flippers, hard pressed to keep up with Katalina's speed. 'I guess there is an advantage to real fins.' He thought, picturing the mockery he was to merkind. As he passed through the coral, Joshua made note of different areas. They might be useful in his studies, later though. Right now, he had a different task.
