Varinia

Varinia saw the little hatching amorentia's eyes go grey and white and it instilled a fear inside the young woman's heart. Please! She begged, Stay and try to find yours. We're not all bad. She thought to the poor dragon.

Weyrling Makimton and Green Zygmuth

Makimton kept feeding his new baby. His sister would be so proud of him! He couldn't wait to show her Zygmuth. Would she like Zygmuth as much as he did? What if she didn't? No she had to. Marek was his sister and had even searched him.

Candidate Nalacko she/her

Nala rolled her shoulders to ease the tension and tried to relax. She giggled softly at poor Firebolt's little honk. So cute! She couldn't wait to see that baby. Nala heard the anxious cry of Amortentia and turned her head to look at the green. It was surprising to see the dragonet's eyes were white and grey. That wasn't good.

No! Don't leave us! Find yours! She thought fiercely. She didn't want to loose a dragon. Any dragon. Nala hoped the green picked her rider quickly. A green cousin went over to comfort the depressed Amortentia. That was good and she hoped it helped at least enough for Amortentia to find her rider.

Mystery Egg Two This pure white egg seems to give a bit of a wiggle and a shake.

Mystery Egg Three This pale grey and pink egg gives a small wobble. Someone inside is definitely stirring... but who?

Avada Kedavra The bronze dragon pushed his way proudly through the throng of Candidates, walking steadily despite only being moments out of the shell. He kept his wings partially spread, and did not seem to let his gaze linger any boy or girl in particular. Now and again he would pause, stopping to look back at Crucio, Amortentia, Dementor, and Imperio. He absolutely refused to look at or even acknowledge Expelliarmus or Auror.

As for the rest of them... they were beneath his notice or care.

Amortentia's first cries of concern and alarm were returned with an almost tender croon, but she was not his focus. She had Crucio there, so surely, that would sort itself out, surely. He had more important matters to tend to at the moment, and he had faith that things would resolve without needing to get involved. He was a dragon on a mission, after all.

He did not touch a single Candidate as he moved. He drifted past them quietly, silently, as if a ghost. His eyes remained a rich red though, and he moved without hesitation. Who among them would be His? Who among them was the best match? His eyes drifted over some of the boys, pondering, considering. And yet...

He needed something.... more.

Amortentia's keened and that did catch his attention. In fact, it seemed to catch everyone's eye. Slinking calmly past a group of boys, the dragon decided that it was time to test their mettle. Time to see what they were made of, time to weed out His from the crowd.

Fangs suddenly bared, the dragon moved fast In one split moment he went from calm and confident, to vicious. With a snap, he caught the boy in his jaws, shaking him hard and fast. Though he was a grown man, the bronze was no small creature, and certainly not weak. There was a dull snap, and the boy went limp in his jaws.

Perhaps the boy had been foolish to have been staring at someone else on the Sands; perhaps he was foolish to have let Avada Kedavra harmlessly pass and relax his guard. It wasn't that the boy was particularly bad, or particularly wrong... He just wasn't His, and therefor, expendable. All power and muscle, the bronze gave a few last shakes, before dropping the Candidate at his feet.

Shinnikan did not move, and would not ever move, again. There was one less Candidate to contend with; one less face to see in the Barracks; one less person to love.

Avada Kedavra, for his part, simply stood on the body and waited.

Sectumsempra
Between Amorentia's pain and Avada Kedavra's antic's, it seemed to signal to this hissing, snarling green that it was time. How dare they upset her beloved sister! How dare they think such terrible thoughts! If they wanted pain, than so be it! She was hurting too! She was angry, and alone! So very alone! That pain only manifested itself and she would make sure they all paid.

Screeching in rage, the green dragon bolted through the Candidates. Wings flared, she did not care who she bowled into or who she attacked. She lunged first towards Tizania, screeching as she tore mindlessly at the girl. Once she felt enough blood had spilled, she lungned again through the crowd.

Snapping, snarling, she made a lunge for Orri, hoping to catch some part of the boy. If successfully, she would rip and tear and shake, trying to shred into him. She was alone and the pain was all but unbearable! Let him feel pain too! She cared not if she left the man maimed, or even killed, but like a whirlwind, as soon as it began, the green dropped him and was back among the Candidates.

Snapping at ankles, ignoring any shrieks or whimpers, the green found herself snagging her wingclaws on another boy. This time a Lauthisen. With a shriek she attempted to wrench her claws free, ripping through skin, even as she snapped and bit. He wasn't Hers, and she wasn't ready to play nice with anyone right now! Dropping the bloodied boy like a hotplate, the green turned, and suddenly went to lunge for Nonami---

You'll Be In My Heart Green Burst from her shell. Screaming in anger, like a bolt of green lightning, the dragonet threw herself at Sectumsempra and pushed the green well out of her projected path. This cousin green was nothing but a fiend, but she was prepared to fight this menace, and would not let anymore get hurt or wounded!

Sectumsempra snarled, and instead, turned her focus on this new threat. She didn't care--let ichor run instead of blood. The pain never stopped anyway.

Dementor The blue hadn't been this happy in..well, likely since his egg formed. For one shining moment, as sudden chaos hit the Sands, the blue dragon looked...pleased. Yes. This was... This was much better. Life was full of pain and death anyway. Why should a Hatching be so disgustingly joyous? So it was, the blue dragon made his way through the crowd, looking for those who were most upset.

Avada Kedavra
Well now. This was much more interesting. Still standing upon the body of the Candidate, the bronze scrutinzed every boy he laid eyes on, watching how they responded and reacted. Waiting for the One.

[[Just an FYI-- I chose people in Sectumsempra's rampage who were signed up for maiming and/or death. Feel free to kill any you'd like if you so wish; maiming's fine too--she left a lot of blood and deep wounds. Also, she ran through a whole mess and bit and tore, so anyone who wants to take a little bit of damage go ahead and take it.]]

As the Candidates drew near her, one in particular running at her, Amortentia gave a squeal of terror - and that was precisely enough to send Crucio into a berserk rage.

She careened away from her sister, lashing out mentally at any Candidate who had dared, dared to so much as look wrong at Amortentia! In her mind, in this moment, all Candidates were in the wrong, and she was POWERFULLY angry. Like a whirling cyclone of claws, teeth, and mental lashes, the dragonet spun into the group of Candidates - a wave breaking upon the shore.

... And the crest of the wave was blood red.

"Zelaya!" For the first time in his life, Wingleader Z'tir lost control of himself at a Hatching. But it was his child down there on the sands. His child potentially facing down death. Even Thread had not frightened him as much as the thought of his dear child perishing now did. White knuckled, Z'tir gripped the cane they'd had made for him.

Zelaya, you are to stay out of harm's way, Siloth crooned to the child, reaching out to her in his rider's moment of need.

---

A terrified squeak escaped Yunara, and she pressed her hands to her mouth, staring down at the growing carnage on the sands. Karou was down there! She wanted to scream out, to leap down, somehow... to...

Save him? Was Karou in danger? Heart in her mouth, the girl watched, breathless.

---

"They are not for you!" Amare snarled, interposing herself between her sibling and danger. No. This was not acceptable. Not going to happen. Amaretti was certainly not the strongest woman in the world, but she was solid, curvy. And every inch of her was not going to move an inch.

Cabhan

It had started, blood filled the air as one of the candidate’s bodies went limp as another dragonet dove into the crowd attacking those who dared to get too closer to it’s war path only to be stopped by another green. There were screams a mix between candidates and dragonets as everyone tried to shuffle around while Cabhan stood in the same spot. He eyed the greenish bronze again before tearing his eyes away to look for the darker one who still boldly remained on top of the lifeless candidate. It was interesting to say the least to Cabhan, not that he was particularly frightful over the whole ordeal, nor surprised that this was bound to happen given how the group awoken by the siblings all seemed to be rather plotting in some sort of way.

Another scream echoed behind him as the green Crucio threw herself into the group, eyes blood red as a few tried to get out of her way. Feet, though burning through the sands, remained planted waiting to see what else would happen, if either it would result in his own demise or simply a scar to remind him of another round of failure.

So much fear, yes, but Imperio seemed almost oblivious to it, carefully stepped through the carnage his siblings were causing to approach Amortentia . Everything was being awfully taken care of right now, but there was a loose end, now wasn't there?

Certainly someone had to keep an eye on this lovely dear. The brown seemed to embrace her eyes still all greens and blues and purples, yes, there was no need to do anything more just yet. They would wait.

------

With a kreel of alarm and no hesitation, Go The Distance suddenly lunged from his position where he’d been pacing in front of the candidates and into the bloody crossfire of Crucio, though there were only so many blows the bronze could take on behalf of another - but he would take them all.

It was as if the threads holding the tapestry of the Hatching together broke and chaos ensued. Veltanna was not pleased as the green dragon baby lunged for one of the small group next to her. She was moving without conscious thought to also get between the small one and the dragon when another dragon shelled and came charging in. Quickly stepping back to allow room for them to move away Veltanna was at the same time aware of another green going for blood, and a bronze just killed (?!?) someone casually? Things were getting dangerous to a whole new level. She couldn’t help notice that the first bronze was still laying on the sands, watching.

Turning to Dhawsn she said, “I don’t think it is me they are after at this point. Seems they are after everyone.” She looked back out at the dragons. They can’t fight back without risking sending the dragons between…

Not shockingly it was the motion of candidates moving to go towards the little green, Shar included unfortunately, that triggered a storm of activity right before the redheaded candidate. He barely had time to acknowledge that both the bronze from earlier and one of the greens had gone on a killing and mauling spree before another green lashed out in a frenzy.

Pulling his friends tightly behind him, hands breaking free of the grips that had held them as he did so, Riz tried to pull his arms up to block himself but realized that the frenzy of claws and teeth might hit one of the girls behind him and hesitated just long enough. Claws raked across his face and chest roughly, the force rocking him backwards as blood splattered across his robes and onto the sand. He just had to keep them safe and out of harm's way, that was his one duty right now and where there had been two of them to do so, Shar was suddenly so far away from him and claws tore at him for what felt like forever before the green spiraled onto the next target.

Slowly he moved backwards, hoping that he could force the girls behind him to move backwards as well, right eye open as the other was too awash with blood to even open and check to see if it functioned currently. Not that it mattered, all that mattered was moving his friends back and away from that for the moment so they didn't get shredded along with him. Gritting his teeth he cursed quietly under his breath as blood ran down his face and from his chest, he couldn't get to where Shar was but he knew she was better at this than he was, had been scarred before. Rizdax kept his mind as calm as he could, he'd suffered worse pain before thanks to thread and this could be considered nothing in the face of it, it was just a baby dragon that hadn't impressed. She wasn't bad.

She was just angry and it was best to get away from that wave of anger for the time being.

"Back." Rizdax growled at the girls behind him, realizing that the claws must have caught his jaw as he spoke because it stabbed in pain just to move. "Move back a few paces until she calms down." It was only then he watched the bronze from the other clutch leap at his sister and he could only hope deep in his heart that the baby dragon would be okay in the face of that horror.

Midais

It was turning into a mess, a rather large and unfortunate mess as Midais gave a bit of a cringe at the lifeless body still pinned underneath the dark bronze dragonet. It was a shame and rather senseless killing to say the least but there wasn’t that could be done for him now. No, there were others who would need help and to fire stones if he wasn’t going to at least make a little bit of effort to give some sort of aid. While one of the other greens stopped the rampage the orange mop of a man leaned down tearing the bottom part of his gown off into to strips. Despite looking as if he was almost wearing some sort of a miniskirt Midais offered them off to a few of the candidates unfortunate enough to be in the green’s earlier war path.

What...? No!!

Colors of the Wind trumpeted in disbelief as her cousins—the same cousins she had felt so close to a moment before—sprang into bloody action. No!! This is not the way...!

But a boy was already dead. And more perhaps might follow. But...Amortentia had shown little sign of improving. The green hesitated, torn between two paths, two courses of action...

Siv

Well SHARDS.

Siv was immediately focused on the angry, snarling dragonets. Were all Hatchings this crazy? Because this was rteally unpleasant, now, and Siv yelped, falling to the sands a second time as she was a side casualty of Sectumsempra's rage-induced rampaghe, the Candidate laying on her back several moments before rising, hopping on one foot nursing her sore ankle as she muttered profanity, hissing to herself. They were babies with an upset sibling, obviously but shards and dragon refuse that hurt like a son of a b***h!

Sibv grimaced, watching for the return oif any of the angry babies immedi--

Oh.

Wait.

Pain or not the vicious little bronze was sitting on... Oh. [io]Oh s**t. Someone died. TYhis... This was decidedly not a terrific morning at all. Hopefully all these unhappy dragonets calm,ed soon, or there would be a lot more trouble.

Amila

...She..Did she hurt the baby?

Amila backed away slowly, expression slowly looking rather horrified at herself. She'd only meant to comfort and... She... She couldn't even..... She'd made it....

Amila felt her throught tighten, chest following suit as she backed away, and then moved a bit to a side, beginning to shake. Someone-- died somewhere and there were three hatchlings going absolutely into ragefits it seemed and... And...

Was that her fault too? Was thius why 'good' girls didn't become riders?

Another quake, another shudder -- she was supposed to stay happy, but being happy was hard when the girl couldn't even..... Breathe, right.

Actually, no, she couldn't -- she was hypetventilating, a mess of emotion from wanting to cry to her anxiety bursting into a full blown panic attack, the girl's eyes shutting as she felt her chest hurt. She wasn't dying-- she hadn't even been harmed by a dragonet -- no, she was having a full blown panic attack on the Sands, mentally withdrawing into herself. Stupid, stupid idiot -- of course she scared the baby. Amila should know better than to think she could ever help anybody, and... Why did people ever think someone would ever want wreck like that?

Rahmi | He/Him | HRW

It had happened all so fast. One moment he was trying to soothe Tizenia’s worries, let her know that it’d all be okay, then Sectumsempra was set off! The lunge has snatched Tizenia from his arms, causing him to stagger back, nearly falling before catching himself. The green tore into his friend right in front of him before turning her wrath to others. His breath caught in his throat as he fell to his knees next to her. There was so much blood, but she was still breathing! She was in such rough shape! “Tizzy,” he uttered with shaking voice. “Hang in there! Please!” His vision swam as tears welled up. Shaking his head, he tore at the hem of his robes to get strips, anything to help soak up the bleeding. He pressed his hands onto the worst of her injuries, trying to set his jaw to stop his trembling chin. He huffed and attempted an encouraging or brave face, with mixed results as tears streamed down his face. “You gotta talk to me, okay? We’ve got plans. We’ve still got so much to do.”

Looking up to Ionan, his voice broke when he tried speaking. “Help - help me until someone can get out here who knows what to do...” He was just a pollinator but he didn’t want to see one of his new friends die! He was so shaken that the carnage around him was only just barely registering.

Kahbrohm

He’d been so ready for that bronze to come at him. He’d wanted it to push against him and to let it’s strength challenge his and….it had just downed a man more grown than he was.

Kahbrohm should have been terrified. In fact, hewas. But mixed in with that fear, that awe of casual death was….everything. Unlimited power, want - want to prove his own strength against that still, even though he was certain in that moment even though a veil of confidence that he would be killed for his ego. It would snap him under his paws and -

And chaos poured out from everywhere - Sectum Sempra suddenly lunged out, lashing her pain at everybody and another egg hatched and Crucio joined in the fray - ready to hurt, ready to raze them all to the ground. It didn’t please any sadism in his heart - there was none there to appeal to in the first place, after all, but this was one of those moments he and Dehka had fought over: One’s worth was decided in these moments - he could either fear his demise and run from it or -

Pain rippled across the man’s chest and shoulder as someone - which green was it? - came tearing through the candidates, immediately staining the front of his robes with a deep red and leaving a nice spray of blood across the sand. It wasn’t deep enough to down him, persay, at least not until more pain followed and then - it was off after somebody else. It sizzled through his senses, that stinging agony, but if he didn’t grab this moment while it was here - a chance to show his strength, his resilience, it would be gone forever.

Then there would be only limits. He would not allow it.

----

Fahn

And as quickly as the desire to move had left her, it returned, sending Fahn shoving herself into the group of girls she’d been standing near to herd them. “Stay out of reach, protect vitals if they get too close - “ but the emotional agony of Crucio hit her square in the face and it made her insides want to twist.

It hurt in a way she didn’t like, and no guide or direction on how to defend against it, only a question: Why? I want to love her...I want to love you....and you love her. This angry, defensive, love..

But it hurt.

And then her body hurt too.

----

Juhvek

He’d been spoiled with a tame hatching out on that beach. Now, there was pain - blood, scratches, and sand and teeth and his mind was on fire. Nobody had warned them about the mental attacks - were they normal, were they -

At the very least, he’d defend those points they’d been told to, not fight back, but he had to find an anchor to focus on - and Alosha’s nosy way of poking into everything came to mind. A sister to survive a sister - at least, he was hoping to not die.

At the feeding table, removed from the chaos of the sands, K'ell was utterly unaware that anything at all was going on. After all, every Hatching was dramatic in its own way. He wasn't aware that his beloved Shinnikan lay dead upon the sands, a bronze dragonet even now looming over his broken body. He wasn't aware that he hadn't said goodbye to Shinnikan. ... Or anything at all, in fact. He wasn't aware that he'd simply walked away from his man the very last time he'd ever see him in life without a backward glance. He wasn't aware that he would spend perhaps the rest of his own life sleeping alone.

He wasn't aware of anything... but Eskharath. Eskharath, who quite preferred it that way. What is that little thing you do? Oh yes, the card tricks. How very... clever. The dragon punctuated his words with another yawn, and K'ell quirked a brow. "Did. That thing that I did, past tense. Shinnikan isn't a big fan, and it's not too much to ask to stop it," he remarked, offering his dragonet another choice bit of meat. I'm sure he's very proud that you're not playing with your little bits of paper anymore, Eskharath drawled, and K'ell smothered a grin.
