Lucian couldn’t decide if he wanted to run with the knife and put it in his cave full of goodies or give it back. He let a laugh escape him when the human realized what was happening. Lucian believed he could get it from him later if he wanted to, so he held out the knife for the human to take, all the while keeping a smile on his face. He laughed once more when he seen the humans expression. He must have been surprised to see him. Lucian thought the human knew about the other creatures because he was hanging around a mermaid. Apparently he was wrong, but it didn't matter. If the mermaids, who are secretive, trust him...then he will too.

Joshua smiled wryly as the dragon-man laughed at him. He could only imagine how odd he seemed to the creatures of the sea. When the knife was released, Joshua sheathed it just behind his right hip. He was still trying to come to terms with the fact that he hadn't had to coax this newcomer to come meet him. And even Katalina, who he was closest to in the sea, didn't touch him much. "I'm Joshua." The speakers of his wetsuit allowed him to talk, now that he'd found his voice. "And you are....?" He inquired politely.

Lucian smiled a little more. He grabbed the air mask and pulled it away from Joshua. He then placed both hands on either side of his face and pulled him towards him. Closing his eyes, he placed his lips on Joshua’s gently. After a few seconds he withdrew and placed the air mask back in place. Within Joshua’s mind, Lucian voice said, ‘My name is Lucian, I want your knife.’ He poked Joshua’s goggles once more.

Katalina watched the entire exchange with amusement. Leaning over so that she could whisper to Joshua, she murmured, "His kind like shiny things. If you have anything important that you wish to keep on you just now, try to make it dull." Flipping her tail, she bobbed her head - greeting Lucian. She hadn't seen him around these waters before, but that meant nothing, really. A horrid series of gargling shrieks began somewhere behind her. Katalina hardly shifted. Maybe Joshua hadn't seen the sharks, but she had. The most she did was wrinkle her nose in slight distaste.

Joshua's poor mind went back into shock at the kiss. He came to terms with the shock better this time around. Even managing to get over the fact that he could 'hear' Lucian, yet at the same time, wasn't really hearing at all. He shook his head to clear it. "That....was weird." He muttered. 'I wonder if he can hear my thoughts too....' Joshua was entertained by that idea for a moment before what Lucian had said filtered through. "Oh, my knife!" He glanced at Katalina when she explained. "I guess if you really want it." He unsheathed it and handed it to Lucian, hilt first. Joshua had a couple spares up on shore so he wasn't really worried about one blade.

Lucian looked at the mermaid then back at the human. He tapped Joshua’s head all the while laughing none stop. ‘I can hear you. That was the point of the lip on lip action.’ He winked at him then looked down at the knife. He stared at it blankly not knowing what to do. He never had someone give him anything before…he had to always take what he wanted. Take it or pay and it was hard to get him to pay for anything…unless it was food. Lucian tilted his head, studying the knife in Joshua’s hand, debating if he should still take it and run or just accept it. He tilted his head on the other side, getting a confused look on his face.

Katalina giggled. "You just confused the hell out of him," she whispered to Joshua, highly entertained. "He's not used to being given what he wants, I'd guess." Narrating the lifestyles of mercreatures was still sort of strange to her - she was used to everyone just knowing.
Turning to Lucian, she nodded encouragingly. She wasn't sure if he would understand her - she didn't speak much to other mercreatures - but the least she could do was try. In the burbling language that, hopefully, he would understand, she said "He means it, you know. You don't have to grab it and run. You can just take it."

Joshua smiled at the confused look on Lucian's face. He chuckled a little bit. 'First you want it, now you don't?' He questioned, a laugh in his mental voice. He hoped he was getting the mental thing right. When Katalina spoke, Joshua looked at her oddly. All it sounded like to him, was a bunch of bubbles, yet he had the feeling that she was saying something. The hand holding the knife didn't waver. 'I have a couple of knifes back on shore. I can afford to lose one.' He thought to Lucian and shrugged. 'Besides, all else fails, I go buy a new one.'

Lucian looked up at Joshua with wide eyes. He quickly grabbed the knife, without harming him, and swam 5 feet backwards. He didn’t want the human to change his mind and try to get it back. He then admired the shininess of the blade. After awhile he looked up and inspected Joshua to see if there was anything else shiny. Lucians hand skimmed all over Josh, looking in flaps and pockets all the way to unzipping things. Lucian always let his curiosity get the better of him since it was his weakness. After he satisfied his curiosity, he glanced at the mermaid. She had very pretty earrings. He started to swim closer to her when the sharks swam past him. Apparently he was so fascinated with these two that he forgot about the sharks. Lucian glanced over there shoulders to see nothing…just as he expected. Not even the fishermen remain there where vicious sharks came out of no where, I mean who would?

Katalina smiled faintly as Lucian inspected her earrings. These ones were old, but her mother had made them. Katalina attached a lot of importance to them, and she figured she might have to bribe him with something else shiny in order to convince him to leave her earrings alone. That was okay. She had plenty of shiny stuff, not the least of which was her glass. And her tail, she thought wryly as she glanced down at aforementioned object.
Bubbling at Lucian, she said "I think they ate the fishers. How could those humans have gotten out of the water fast enough to avoid them?" She used this language deliberately because she knew Joshua didn't understand it - and would be horrified if he knew what had taken place right behind them.

Watching Lucian amused him. He really was unlike any other seafolk he'd met so far. Joshua raised an eyebrow as he was searched pocket by pocket. He watched Lucian's eyes flick to Katalina, then over his shoulder. Turning to see what had caught his attention, Joshua heard Katalina speak in that odd bubbly language. Though he guessed what she was talking about when he saw no sign of the fishermen. He was partly right. 'Wonder why they left so suddenly....'

Katalina shifted a little as she saw confusion cross Joshua's face. Although she was a little ashamed of keeping him in the dark on what had just happened to the two fishermen, she knew it was kinder than telling him. She sank down slightly, hoping Joshua would not think to ask her what had happened to the fishers. It was, surely, better that he didn't know. Surely.

Joshua turned back to look at Katalina. Her eyes seemed to be pleading with him, to not ask. He raised an eyebrow at that. Still, he shrugged. If Katalina was looking at him like that, he probably really didn't want to know what had happened. What had really happened. Joshua shrugged and returned to watching Lucian. He really did amuse Joshua. A sudden thought crossed his mind. 'What is he, really? I don't think he's a merman.' Mentally Joshua went through a list of mythical sea creatures. The Only one he could think of that fit Lucian was a sea dragon. Some legends said they had more than one form.

Lucian smiled back at Josh as he inched closer to the mermaid. He wanted the earrings or at least look at him. As he remained eye contact with Josh, his hand reached over to Katalina and pets her on her head. He made a face when Joshua thought was merman. ‘Please stop, you were correct to begin with. I am a sea dragon.’ He laughed still petting Katalina’s head.
