But I always wondered and this is a major part, how do you get the images of the avatars onto your computer?

I tend to use the Print Screen key + Paint or just use tektek and right-click + save.

OOPS! I fixed the last one. Although I'm having trouble with the animated ones not wanting to work on gaia right now. sweatdrop I always just use the Print Screen key + Paint and then transfer it over to photoshop later. I put them up for you to steal. That's point. Feel free to use them if you want to. ^_~
