No thread was falling on them. Shyn'ar took the moment to clear his head and to take a moment to check over Gwyllinth. He decided that they could go a bit longer, but soon, Gwyllinth would have to rest.

First roll - 3 loose 5HP but gain +2 Pain Resistance
Second roll -7 -saved a wingmate
Roll 3-18 -It hurts, but it's small tubers compared to what it could have been! +1 Pain Resilience]
Roll 4 -1- A larger clump of Thread falls down hard and fast. Thankfully, your dragon is on top of it, and manages to hit the target with a large belch of flame just as it passes. [+1 Target Accuracy]
Roll 5 -16=The wind is fierce and fighting you. Greens, and blues will struggle against it, trying valiantly to keep in formation! [+1 Stamina]

Roll 6-13-Ouch! Feeding your dragon some firestone has resulted in them biting their tongue!
Roll 7-16-The wind is fierce and fighting you. Greens, and blues will struggle against it, trying valiantly to keep in formation! [+1 Stamina]
Roll 8-You appear from Between and find the space you were hoping would be clear now has a large sheet of Thread being guested towards it. You've only a moment to decide where to go, and both you and your dragon pick a spot and hop Between in an attempt to avoid Thread. Roll a D4 and take whatever damage or XP you're given!

2: You appear close to the clump. Your dragons wings are grazed, but another quick hop and you're fully clear of the danger. [Minor Damage -1 HP.

Roll 9-The wind is rough, but you and your dragon are managing. You get a breather as your dragon flies into a small break of Threadfall. The upper altitudes must be doing a good job sweeping up!

Roll 1: Are you feeling lucky? Well you should! Free reply! Respond to this post with any action pertaining to Threadfall, and gain a little luck. [+1 Luck]
Roll: 2 As you're flying, the wind picks up again, trying to knock you out of formaiton! If less than 22 feet, you get blown out of formation, but are agile enough to avoid getting hit with Thread. Hurry now -- better make it back before your Wingleader scolds you! If 23' to 35', you're able to fight it, but wind up pulling a wing muscle. Whoops. Maybe you over-compensated. -4 HP If 36'-46', you're able to fight the wind with relative ease. Unfortunately, the nearby Threadfall gets blown into your side and haunches -- and you were too big to move out of the way. Ouch, does that not burn!? Moderate Damage -8 HP
Roll 3: The wind is fierce and fighting you. Greens, and blues will struggle against it, trying valiantly to keep in formation! [+1 Stamina] Browns and Bronzes can feel the strain, but it's nothing they can't seem to handle. [+3 Stamina]
Roll 4: You notice one of your wingriders is in need! Three clumps of thread are heading straight for them, while they are flaming down another impressive sheet. Ah, but your dragon is clever, and quick, and manages to flame all three down with short spits of fire. If a green, or blue rider, the thread turns to harmless ash, and both of you can continue on your way. [+3 Target Accuracy] If a brown, or bronze, you can't quite get over there in time. You call out to warn them, and manage to at least catch one clump while your wingmates blink Between. [+1 Target Accuracy]
Roll 5: This is bad. Very bad. One of your wingmates appears out of Between flaming, but instead of catching a nearby target, they catch you instead. Your dragon roars in pain, blinking hastily Between! Just how bad is the damage? Roll a D4!
-- 2. The burn is painful, but you think you'll be okay! Moderate Damage -7 HP. They also now suffer a Painful status for the next 2 turns. This will negate any gained XP, and cause double damage if the prompt includes damage (or has you roll for damage). -- negated!

Roll 1: The wind is getting pretty bad. You struggle through, but wind up having to be extra alert for the windblown Thread! This is not a good situation to be in! [Geens, and blues wind up easily avoiding the blown Thread, their smaller sizes a great advantage. [+3 Agility!] [Browns and bronzes aren't quite as lucky. They maneuver as they can, but still wind up scored. Minor Damage -2 HP

Mnereth jerked his head slightly when Siloth's brave words reached him, his eyes beginning to whirl faster. Yes. Yes! He would carry on! He would not disappoint his wing, or his rider! I will not fail! He trumpted back, swept up in the passion. K'lar twisted in his saddle, saluting his Wingleader with gratitude.

Scorch this wind, though! Mnereth continued to battle against the gusts--and K'lar stifled a sound of alarm as Thread swept dangerously close to them. I am not hit. Mnereth reassured him, as calm and loving as always. Bless that dragon.

With the wind as wild as it was, Thread was strewn here and there violently. Thanks to Mnereth's speed as a blue, it was easy for him to weave in and out of the mess--and even rescue another one of his wingmates! K'lar's satisfaction was the greatest reward he could ask for--and as far as Mnereth was concerned, it was a simple product of their good training.

More thread! Now! Flame! K'lar cried, and Mnereth immediately snapped his wings to his side, belching out a gout of fire. Yes, both rider and dragon were extremely pleased with themselves.

Despite their valiant successes so far, K'lar could feel how tired Mnereth was getting. Oh, his solid blue knew how to conserve his stamina well, but he was no brown or bronze. With his sides heaving, Mnereth struggled to gain altitude--the sudden cry of one of his teammates had him folding his wings and dropping, just barely avoiding thread. A very close call... Thank you. He called out wearily, grateful.

Even as tired as he was, Mnereth was able to expertly twist, trying to use the wind to his advantage as Thread blew all around them. Fortunately, he managed to do as much with relative ease--and neither he or K'lar ended up scored.

A'ye didn't mind the hand holding, or the searching for comfort and reassurance that he assumed S'del was hoping for. It was nice to feel wanted and needed and if he could help ease any trouble, no matter how slight, he was full speed ahead. Plus, honestly, being with S'del was putting his mind at ease too. The Fall was chewing up riders left and right, and with he and Oyath going in second wave? There was a limit to how laid back and nonchalant A'ye could be.

"Thank you, Dr'stan." He knew of the dragonhealer long before he'd become a rider, and A'ye sort of made it a point to keep tabs on who rode green - more specifically, who rode green while being a man. It wasn't as though he didn't understand mileage may vary depending from person to person, but it was still worth knowing everyone. Plus, the green whom Oyath was eyeing like a feline was from the last clutch on High Reaches sands. He'd be a fool to forget. Speaking of that.... "Oyath, stop it."

The green snorted, though she kept her gaze on the other chromatic dragon. She'd been watching just how this Cynosuth had been interacting with Kindeth, and her eyes remained the same red as always. The stare remained strong and piercing for a few moments more, though in a blink-and-miss moment they swirled with the merriment of green and blue, and the younger green dragon would have bit hit with the affectionate wave of something akin to having one's hair tousled. You're fine.

Two sets of encouraging words, without really being prompted? A'ye would have thought the sky was falling but....it sort of literally was. To prevent himself from laughing at the irony he squeezed S'del's hand again and looked back and forth from the rider to his dragon. "You know, they say that ladies like scars." It...probably wasn't the most inspirational thing, but.

He needed to escape BUT S'DEL WAS HOLDING HIS HAND.

Burning Aces Wing
Ly’bur of Brown Hinburath
HP: 26/34
Status Effect: Fatigue Effect(2/3 rounds)
XP:
Target Accuracy: 7
Flame Length: 7 (+1)
General Stamina: 6
General Agility: 6
Between Accuracy: 7
Pain Resilience: 6
Instinct: 7 (+1)
Luck: 7
Training at HRW for past 2 Turns (+6 xp to all), +5 to distribute

Low Alt Wing

The pair didn't have long to wait before a weyrling replied. Hinburath rumbled his acknowledgement to Aurinkoth and informed his own rider to be ready to catch. Ly'bur was pleased with the weyrling's prompt reply. They shouldn't keep the fighting wings waiting for their firestone. Those kids were being trained up right, and he approved. A good bit of gossip he could spread.

Thank you Aurinoth. Ly'bur looked over as the young blue pulled up beside them. At his signal the rider tossed over his new sack as he tossed back the used one. They were gone before he'd even finished settling the new sack across his dragon's withers. A flawless throw. He'd be sure to mention it to the weyrlingmaster once this was over.

Round 1: Day 2 Rolls
1. 16- You appear from Between only to find yourself in the perfect spot to catch a sliver of Thread. You successfully flame it down easily. [+1 Target Accuracy]
2. 1- Ouch! Feeding your dragon some firestone has resulted in them biting their tongue! This is going to distract your dragon for the next three rolls. Their flaming aim will go down, and they might be slower to dodge out of Thread's way. [Tongue Bitten Effect! Your dragon is distracted by pain. No XP will be earned for the next 3 rolls. Any successes will be nullified. Should you roll a prompt with the possibility of damage, take the max damage allotted for your size/color automatically but it will also end the Tongue Bitten Effect immediately.]
3. 14- Your dragon is starting to feel tired. This particular fight is wearing them down. A strong gust of winds tries to throw them out of their position. Roll a D4 to see what happens!
4. Whoops! Your dragon is blown completely out of formation, and is too tired to stop it. Fellow wingriders notice, and trumpet warning, though it's unclear if your Wingleader has noticed or not. Either way, your dragon is just spent. Fatigue Effect For the next 3 rolled turns your dragon will suffer from Fatigue Effect. Any XP earned during those turns is negated. On the plus side, any negative status effect (i.e. additional Fatigue Effect or Bitten Tongue) is also negated, since your dragon is too tired to care. The only exception is if you get a status that cures Fatigue or your Wingleader/Wingsecond rolls a status cancelling roll.)
4. 7- Oh no, look out! A small clump of thread broke through the ranks, and has managed to hit your and your dragon. It is an ugly tangle, and though you blink between, it's going to hurt! [Moderate Damage -5 HP. You are now flying with a Painful status effect. This will negate your next immediate rolls XP and double damage if the roll includes set damage (or has you roll for damage).
5. 4- You're low on firestone! If you've already replenished recently (within the last 5 posts) you may choose to skip this roll and just do a general post for no XP. OR you can keep it and blame it on a faulty bag, or some other excuse for being without stone. Call for one of the weyrlings to send you another sack of stone! [Flag down a weyrling! Post this code in your next post and see if a weyrling can get to you!
A weyrling can quote you and roll from the Weyrling Table to see what happens! If there are no PC weyrlings, feel free to play a semi-retired rider helping out and play out the scene or ping staff for an NPC assist!

As they were flying through, a form appeared back in formation. Any greeting suddenly turned into warning as the blue dragon saw the extreme danger his wingmate was in. IRATH! Look out! He bugled a warning, diving down close so he might help blast some of the offending Thread away. Just enough to give the dragon a bit of time to get away. A little bit of smoke and ash was better than Thread, wasn't it? . . . even if it wasn't exactly by-the-book.

Shaddaling

Falling from all the way up in the High Altitude wing had nearly taken Aly's breath away, she was barely conscious and just feeling the pain of her own burrows made her want to succumb to every ounce of pain and terror that was ripping her heart out. Tarmath was her leveling force in the air, the one being that could keep her calm when she was so terrified of flying herself for this very reason, but the green was unconscious and the even keel to her mind could no longer help to alleviate her rider's fears as they tumbled down through the sky towards their inevitable fate. There was still a slight bit of hope, still a glimmer that a queen might catch them and that they would be safe.

But it was slowly dimming as pain turned the edges of her vision black, even the green skin of her dragon's patched neck was starting to disappear when a heavy thump jarred her entire body. Of course she'd heard the words spoken by the golden queen as they'd fallen, but she hadn't registered them in her pain, in her panic. Fianth, she recognized the gold at least, from what little she could see of her past the edging darkness, she'd caught them on her back, they were saved?

Maybe, but not possibly yet. Tarmath's impact had woken the dragon a bit, the edges of understanding pulling at her pain shredded mind. Rider... please save.. my.. it was all she could manage to send to the queen as a creeling hiss of pain escaped her and they were Between. Aly clung on as tight as she could, never taken Between by anyone but her plucky green before, she hadn't a clue how non-riders would have felt taking this trip when they had no clear image in their head. Still there was trust in the queen, trust that she would get them where they needed to go, for there were no greater golden queens on all of Pern than those at High Reaches, that much Alythrae knew. When they popped back above the Bowl she was barely paying attention to the descent, her left hand ripping at the straps holding her to Tarmath as her right arm had gone limp for some reason.

Thread was still alive on both of them, the trip between hadn't nearly been enough with the damage that both of them had taken and the pain was all but unbearable. So it was that she was eternally grateful to the younger goldrider, who's hands both worked to help her out of the straps as quickly as she could, but for all that the woman was asking her questions and speaking to her Aly couldn't respond. Only one thing rang in her mind, only one thing mattered in this moment, she had to get Tarmath into the water, even if she lost her arm, even if she wound up scarred beyond recognition, Tarmath could NOT die. She wouldn't let her!! They'd fought Thread for two full turns, been together for over thirty, there was no way that her dragon was going to die on this day without her doing everything that she could to prevent it.

Unable to put any weight on her right leg from the damage it had taken while still in the air, Aly leaned everything that she had onto her left side and fell from her straps across the gold's back. Pain flashed through her and she snarled in frustration at her own weakness as she pulled herself back towards her dragon to shove her down towards the water.

Not that she had to. To her immediate relief, the queen slid Tarmath off of her back slowly using her wing and somehow, despite Aly not realizing that they were so close to it, straight into the water. The still living thread hissed as the green entered into it and she lapsed back into full unconsciousness once more, her large body, so large for a green yet so small next to Fianth, went limp again. Tears still streaming down her face, Aly leaned as heavily against the gold's wing as she could to keep herself upright and turned to face the rider, no fear at all in showing any weakness or pain to the woman she knew had saved her.

"Thank you, we'd be.." splattered, they'd be splattered if it hadn't been for Olliah and Fianth. Tears streamed down her face, not just from pain but also from gratitude as a healer grabbed her with both hands to drag her to her own dunking from the feel of it, "Thank you so much. I can never repay you enough!"

Physically drug away from the woman and dragon that had saved her, pulled from her dragon that she felt needed her, Aly tried to put up a fight but her arm and leg were still useless from pain and threadburrows that were eating away at them. The healer took no time at all in dunking her, having stripped her of the wherhide jacket that was hiding the worst of the burrows in her arm and back. Sizzling filled her ears as Aly's mind finally went empty, at least safe for a moment with the healers, even if she couldn't reach her dragon's mind.

Uta
I just had Fianth slide her off into the water, since time would be of the essence. XD Hope that's okay.

The Second Hour: Round 2 Begins!

First Wave can now fight!

Second Wave can continue socializing and preparing.

Candidates will have been assigned duties and tasks in the Weyrbowl, as well as in the Lower Caverns and the Infirmary. It's imperative they stay out from being underfoot of the weyrhealers and riders!

Rainstorm Wing aka The Tea Clutch. You're too little and too young to be assigned tasks and duties. Chances are, you're in the Barracks learning how to keep your dragon calm during high stress times of emotion. Your babies are still sensitive and likely easily distressed, so I can't imagine they are going to want them underfoot in the Weyrbowl. It's possible their morning or afternoon chores are going to be helping in the kitchens and areas that keep them away from the worst of the trauma and chaos.

- - - -

Current Hour: 1200

Current Location: A bit South-East of HIgh Reaches Hold. They will be fighting near the Hold but not directly over it. There are many families, caravans, travelers. While they should all be inside the Hold, you never know who might be caught out. Similarly, there's some greenery growing. Some local forests and trees -- anything that gets through here will have a direct effect on neighboring High Reaches Weyr.

High Altitude: Burning Aces, Tornado Wing, Ophiuchus
Mid Altitude: Trespassers, Hurricane Wing, Aquila
Low Altitude: Harbingers, Tsunami, Wing, Scorpius

How're we doing, Thistreth?

The bronze dragon blast through another clump of Thread. Fair enough, given the conditions. There are injuries reported in almost all the Wings, and a few have been severe. But it could have been worse, Mind. Our riders are looking out for one another. Thistreth added, pride in his voice.

Good.

Wings of High Reaches, you are fighting well and honorably. Though the winds try to buffet you, you are stronger! Though the scores and ash might burn, the pain is temporary! Though Thread has come this very day, and nature seems against us, we were will persevere!

Be strong and fight on, High Reaches! You will conquer, and we WILL prevail!

Everyone Actively Fighting Thread or Joining the Fray Gain +10 HP. If you are already maxed, simply enjoy the speech from your Weyrleader.

Queen's Wing
G'ran of brown Elzebuth
HP: 22/22 HP !!
Status Effect: N/A
XP: (Base Stat - +1 to everything)(+5 to distribute)
Target Accuracy: +2 (+3)
Flame Length: +1
General Stamina: +3 (+1)
General Agility: +1 (+1)
Between Accuracy: +1
Pain Resilience: +2 (1)
Instinct: +2
Luck: +1

Roll 1: Another gust wind blows, sending some silvery strands of Thread your way! Your dragon manages to twist their way through it with surprising and relative ease, and you're able to even flame down some of the fray! [+1 Agility // +1 Target Accuracy]

G'ran and Elzebuth had never met the Weyrleader, or even seen much of him.... but both of them listened as Thistreth spoke. Both of them felt swelling pride, and renewed determination to fight. There was still a long, hard battle ahead of them, but they would succeed. They had to. Failure wasn't an option. Thread streaked towards them, and Elzebuth spun through the patch as though he'd been doing this for Turns. He belched forth flame, easily blasting through some of the clump.
