Joshua stared at the girl. 'Oooh boy. I can see an issue here.' He thought to himself. He listened as Lucian told him what he and Katalina had done. 'Alright. I'll think of something.' Joshua thought to Lucian. To himself, he began planning how he could convince the girl she hadn't really seen anything. Glancing behind, Joshua tried to see if there was anything he could use as a cause of hallucination. There wasn't much help there. Still, he had to come up with something.

‘Oh I see mermaids have fangs…’ He laughed again. ‘While we are in this position, do you want me to give you a back massage? You know…to calm you down?’ He looked back at Joshua, ‘I’m sure you can do it…if you can, we can always just swim away really fast.’ He laughed again.

"No don't go! I mean no harm, I won't tell anyone!" Rosalina thought desperately watching the mermaid and sea dragon disappear. She gestured towards the surface, indicating she wanted to talk with the human man. "Damn I wish I could talk underwater!" she muttered in her mind.

Katalina twitched. Fact is, the reason I'm uncomfortable would be because we are in this position, she said flatly. Looking at Joshua, she frowned, nudged Lucian and told him, Tell him to mention the rabbit-fish. Or some fish. I'll call some. He can pretend that's what she saw - maybe she'll buy it. I don't think so, but anything's possible.

Lucian sighed, ‘women like you are the reason why I don’t…’ he trailed off realizing something. ‘You don’t have ways to communicate with him? Shocker…’ He shifted his positions carefully so that he was holding her hand instead of her waist. ‘Better?’ He connected with Joshua again, ‘The mermaid mentions something about the rabbit-fish or some other kind of fish…’

Katalina looked at him, amused. I do. I simply haven't told him about them yet, and I think I'll scare him if I randomly show up in his head, she replied. Continuing on, she added, Not particularly, but I suppose I'll live.

Joshua glanced behind him, to where they had disappeared. He nodded, showing that he understood. Looking back to the girl, he saw her gesturing. Kicking his feet, he headed upwards. At the same time, he moved closer to her. And away from Lucian and Katalina. The farther, the better for the moment.

He looked at her, ‘How delightful.’ He raised an eyebrow at her as he continued to study her appearance. She was very shinny, but had an attitude of a shark. He remembered food and smiled sheepishly to himself. ‘Oh how I wish I could eat some cupcakes right now…hmmmm.’ He almost drooled from the excitement of mentioning food.

As soon as they broke the surface Rosalina began to speak. "I know what they are, there is no way you can convince me otherwise. I was born and raised on the island, I know the myths. I know they are true, I've always known deep down inside. I won't tell anyone though. I......I j....just want to meet them. I mean no harm"she said, shyly at the last part.

Joshua organized his features into what he hoped was confusion as he pulled off his breathing mask and goggles. He wanted to believe her, but h still felt obligated to try and convince her otherwise. He shook hi head, spraying water around. "I have no idea what you're talking about. Really." 'I hope to all heaven that his works.' "I was playing with fish. You startled them!" Joshua tried to look accusing. "Rabbit-fish are extremely shy! It'll take me forever to convince them to come back!"

Katalina quirked a brow at him. Cup...cakes? It meant nothing to her. Glancing up, she realized the girl was at the surface with Joshua. They're gone, she announced. Can we go hide somewhere now? Honestly, she didn't think the girl would buy the fish thing, but it would buy her and Lucian a little extra time to hide.

Lucian heard ever word and translated it back to the mermaid. ‘I don’t think this is going to work,’ he told them both. He was a little amused as to how things were turning out. He let her go, so she can go swim off and hide, he on the other hand stayed where he was, keeping himself blended in.

Rosalina frowned. "I have swam in these waters since before I even learned to walk. I know what rabbit fish look like! Trust me, I won' tell anyone what I saw, about them."she said furiously gesturing downwards. "Nobody would believe me even if I did, they would just say I was letting the myths get to my head. And I wouldn't want to hurt your friends."she said the last sentence softly.

Katalina looked tired. I knew it wouldn't, she responded at last. We have to make a decision now. She didn't move to hide, because she wanted to get this over with. Do we trust her and reveal ourselves, do we hide and let her think she was hallucinating, or do we kill her before she can tell?

Lucian smiled, ‘You don’t want me to decide. I’m not very nice sometimes.’ He glanced up to the feet kicking. He reappeared and sighed, causing bubbles to float up. ‘The choice is yours, I don’t have to show myself…I just want food.’ He shook his head and body to get rid of the chills he had.
