Of course, Kaistern hoped they didn't have to resort to such tactics and wanted to first employ the good ol' diplomacy. It'd be a bonus too if he could start discussing alliances while he was going around the different settlements. "Whoever's in charge would certainly be the best start, so I'll let you lead the way."

Ophelia nodded, going on towards the town hall without hesitation. She looked a little intimidating with the expression she held, the small armada of guards around her and Kaistern, as well as the guns she kept on her hip and the sniper rifle on her back. This was a serious issue. Ophelia could not allow the nuclear weaponry to be used.

"Stay here." Kaistern told their guards once they got to the town hall. "We're hear to make peace, not threaten them. I'll allow one or two to come with us, since everyone else in the castle is paranoid, but that's it." he said before going inside. Of the initial group of five, two of the guards indeed followed inside.

"Unless you are willing to give an unreasonable bribe or otherwise dangerously disadvantage yourself, threats might be necessary." Ophelia warned as they walked along. "We will try things your way first, of course, but do not think for a moment that this man is above breaking his end of a bargain once he's gotten what he wants from you."

"Only a mortal fool would break a deal with a demon." Kaistern pointed out. "If he's smart, he'll comply. After all, I want to help your people just as much as he does."

"He is very much a mortal fool." Ophelia stated calmly, falling silent as they approached the mayor's office. She held the door open for Kaistern and their guards, a calm and neutral expression taking hold of her features. She would let Kaistern do as he would. If his methods were fruitless, though, that was when she planned on stepping in.

"I apologize for barging in so suddenly like this, Mr. Mayor." Kaistern said as he stepped up to the mayor's desk and bowed politely, alloting himself some extra space for his horns, lest he stab the mayor or his desk by mistake. "My name is Kaistern Bardulia Schwarzvogel," Ah, high class and their love of long, fancy names. "King of the Demon Realm, and I've heard from Ophelia here that you've been having problems amongst you and your people's other settlements, as well as the possibility of someone taking very drastic measures. I have come as a gesture of good will, hoping to aide you in sorting out your people's disputes without such excessive action, as well as seeing about the possibility of a treaty of sorts between the humans and demons, as well as hopefully other races in the future."

{That post is awesome, but I don't want to write out the part of the mayor. Especially since I'd have no clue whatsoever how to reply to that. Should we dice-roll to decide the outcome? Or can I bullshit my way out of it by making the NPC say it without writing out the text?}

The man seemed amicable and polite enough, perhaps even likeable as far as humans would go. That was, until you went past the friendly face and tone of voice in order to pay attention to the way he worded his replies to Kaistern. Barely hidden dismissals, insults, and of course blatant lies. He sometimes even made subtle allusions to Ophelia's purity, or lack thereof. Quite easilly one of the one-night stands she regretted most before meeting Kaistern. (After, too.) When the woman spoke up, her words were just as friendly and polite sounding - though with twise the venom hidden beneath them. It was like having two princesses in the same room for longer than a minute, except one of them was an old dude and they both banged each other once.

The guards sweatdropped watching the display, though Kaistern kept his cool. Apparently the only one in the room to do so. "Once again, it was merely an offer. If you don't want our help, then so be it. Although I will of course have to pass the threat of such weapons on to the other races..." he said putting a finger to his chin in mock thought. "...and I doubt the orcs will care for such a threat the way they pride themselves in might and violence. And of course the elves would have a bone to pick with your people about the radiation your little nukes could cause...But I can see how you'd want to work things out yourselves. You went far on your own as a race once before, and you can certainly do it again. I shan't bother you again." he humbly bowed to the mayor once more before ducking for the door. "Oh, and do feel free to send a message along if you ever change your mind." he said with a bright smile before leaving. It seemed Ophelia was right, and diplomacy failed. But Kaistern could drop subtle hints too and hopefully they'd get through the mayor's thick skull.

Once they were out of earshot, Ophelia said, "Expect a missive from him within the week." The man was a fool, a snake, and piss poor in bed. Still, she doubted he was so stupid as to call the bluff when it was his life on the line. Otherwise, she would have to make sure that her sisters weren't near the village when she pressured Kaistern to follow through with his words.

"Yes, hopefully I won't have to follow through on all that. I'd rather avoid telling the other races about this issue, because they really will act as I said." Kaistern said with a faint sigh before putting an arm around her shoulders. "We've taken care of business here, and he did let slip a few of the locations of the other settlements rumored to have nukes at least. So if there's anything you wanted to do while in town, now's your chance....Perhaps even making a stop by that little bakery from last time..." Okay, so maybe the little kid hadn't completely grown up. That was a tasty tart he had last time.

Ophelia could not help but giggle at Kaistern's obvious hint for bakery sweets. A warm smile washed away the cold seriousness she had before as she said, "If you so insist, we can pay it a visit once more." Otherwise, she had no need to linger here. She'd moved on in the world. Well, that, and her sisters were still in the city.

With a smile, Kaistern shooed the guards away to wait by the griffins, as the serious work was done. And with such a nice treat in store for them, it'd be far less awkward than having five armed guards follow them about on their mini date.
