Roll 1: Another gust wind blows, sending some silvery strands of Thread your way! Your dragon manages to twist their way through it with surprising and relative ease, and you're able to even flame down some of the fray! [+1 Agility // +1 Target Accuracy]
Roll 2: As you're looking for the rogue Thread, you notice one of your wingmates in danger. You and your dragon call out warning and are lucky to see the pair respond. Quote a Wingmate and have all damage removed from their most recent roll!
Roll 3: A whole lot of nothin'. The Queen's Wing can sure be quiet sometimes. You should be getting XP points for patience the way this is going. Part of you wonders how your fellow wingmates are doing... maybe your dragon can get you a status report.
4. A tangle of Thread manages to slip through! Though you try to get it, you're not fast enough, or aim was way off base. Though it doesn't hurt you and your dragon, you do watch as it makes it through the last line of defense, to fall upon the helpless world below. Crops, plants, animals, and even possibly people are now in danger... you can only hope the ground crews will find the burrow safely once Thread is through. If this is your fourth time rolling this status, you start feeling Guilt [Take 3 Turns of Guilt! Any Damage rolled takes an additional -4 HP. Any successful bonuses by other players don't affect your character. You just don't deserve it.] ((2/4))



No! Another clump of thread, just barely slipping by their flame! Elzebuth roared with frustration, and G'ran's teeth were clenched hard enough to hurt. Shards and shells! He couldn't help but think about the people, livestock, and crops down below--no. He couldn't dwell, not now. Faranth send that the ground crews would manage to find the burrow and destroy it, before it could do any real harm...

5. You suddenly see a clump of Thread. Your dragon wheels towards
it. With a flash of hot fire, you manage to catch the whole clump, and turn it into harmless ash. And they say the Queen's Wing doesn't do anything, pfft.
You'll prove them you're just as worthwhile as any of the fighting wings. Well done! +1 Flame Length



Determined to make up for his failure, Elzebuth spun sharply as another clump of Thread rained down from above. He flamed hard, engulfing the thing in a blaze of heat. Take that, Thread! Grrr! He would have bugled in triumph... but, well, considering one had slipped by only moments ago, it felt a little bittersweet.

Unfortunately another gust of wind repeated the scenario almost play-for-play. Thella struggled to stay in her saddle and Lireloth was steady, but it brought another clump of Thread in contact with them again. Once again they went Between and when they returned Lireloth was definitely not himself. Ichor dripped down his hind legs from the deep wounds and he snarled through the pain. Thread wasn't going to get the best of him today!

They reappeared with a burst of flame, Suuth not caring whether or not he hit anything important. H'win clung tightly to his straps, sending calming thoughts to his dragon, and eventually they leveled off, only to go Between once more as a small sheet of thread blew up from below.

4. You're so focused on flaming Thread that you miss a clump of thread blows up on the wind -- beneath you! If a green, or blue, you manage to jump Between ahead of it. Thankfully, your smaller size means you're able to avoid getting harmed! [+1 Between Accuracy]

Roll: 6 - The wind is getting pretty bad. You struggle through, but wind up having to be extra alert for the windblown Thread! This is not a good situation to be in! [Geens, and blues wind up easily avoiding the blown Thread, their smaller sizes a great advantage. [+3 Agility!]

Moving down to a lower altitude was a relief. But were they really only half through their shift? Mishaath desperately needed to work on her stamina...but small as she was, this might just be how threadfall would go for her every time. That was...a frankly daunting prospect. For the moment though the pair was just happy that there was slightly less thread to dodge down here.

Between the tongue bite and the clumps that were still raining down on them, the pair were struggling a little bit, but they still fought on. Stubborn was in their nature and there was no way that they would simply go down without fighting, they had wingmates to watch and a daughter that made them both worry.

It would be okay as long as they were together.

The speech from their Weyrleader earned a bugle from Mnereth, and both the blue and his rider quickly followed the rest of their wing to a lower altitude. Though he'd been tired before, Mnereth felt a little rejuvenated now! Unfortunately, as he flamed a small bit of thread, the wind sent the hot ash right back at them. Mnereth hissed angrily, and K'lar let out a wordless shout of pain as it burned his face in turn. Thankfully, he'd managed to shut his eyes in time!

Trying to make up for his earlier mistake, Mnereth belched flame--much earlier than K'lar would like. To his surprise though, the blue managed to sustain the flame for longer than usual--and easily charred the clump. His surprise immediately turned to pride, and he sent wordless praise to his blue.

Shaking his head once more, still in a bit of pain though it was beginning to lessen as they continued to fight. Thread was still falling and it seemed that it was only falling faster and faster, there were still so many hours to go. They would push through it, they had to. Lifting his head to look around, Zetigeth saw one of his wingmates flaming a sheet of thread while three clumps headed straight towards them. With a flourish the big brown shot a flame out and shouted for them, hoping that it might get them to avoid it if they heard his voice call out. Luckily they hopped between, as he was only able to get one of the clumps thanks to the throbbing of his tongue.

Hopefully this pain went away soon!

A stray gust of wind is enough to nearly bobble the pair out of position--but by doing so, they just narrowly manage to avoid a stray clump of thread. Neither had expected that--but who were they to look a stray gift dragon in the mouth?

High Alt Wing

The first hour was up. On cue Ly'bur shifted with his wing into the high altitude position. Instantly he found himself surrounded by Thread. Hinburath was up to the challenge though. He roared and let forth a long tongue of flame that scorched a large swath of Thread. He was still tired, but there was no place to rest up here. They would just have to battle through it! It was near constant work to flame any thread that was before them.


Round 2: Day 1 Rolls
1. 5- The air is thick with Thread. It's at its heaviest up here, and you are literally surrounded by silver tendrils. You roar defiance before spitting forth a great flame, scorching the deadly threads before you with ease. Flame Length +1 (NOT GAINED DUE TO FATIGUE)

[+1 Stamina] If your dragon isn't suffering, you are allowed to quote a fellow wingmate (must be in your same wing) who is suffering the effect! Your dragon trumpets at them encouragingly, making them feel better, and giving them a renewed burst of energy and effort. Remove Fatigue Effect from one wingmate!

Roll 5. Your dragon is effortlessly flaming Thread. Honestly, they almost seem to make it look easy. Both you and your dragon start to feel more confident, and even start to get a bit cocky. Low Altitude Wing was always the easiest wing to fly. Unfortunately for you.... Roll a D4!
--1. A guest of wind sends you out of formation, and you know your Wingleader (or their Seconds) just saw.


Things were going quite well for the pair, and for the first time, K'lar felt himself relaxing. Mnereth picked up on his feelings--and when the gust of wind hit him hard enough to send him reeling out of formation. Shame suffused through both dragon and rider, and the blue hastily beat his wings to try and take his position again. That wasn't supposed to happen! Serves them right for dropping their guard...

Roll: 18 - Your dragon spots a few clumps of thread being blown about in front of them. If brown or bronze, they don't need as much speed, and instead belch a long flame, catching all three with ease. [+1 Target Accuracy, +2 Flame Length!]

It was a tense moment as the wings rotated formations, but V'mel held steady. Thankfully his crew kept...mostly the same patterns for the whole of threadfall. He lingered in the Lower Altitude section as the wings shifted, ready and waiting to catch any thread that slipped past in the process. A perfect shot, when several strands and clumps entered view, was not to be wasted, and though V'mel urged Aviroth closer, instead the brown simply flamed, one perfect, straight lance of fire to catch each bit in one move.

Hopefully at least one weyrling had seen that, and would be inspired to do the same.

[2/5]

Both girl and dragon popped back from Between - something both terrifying when there were dragons all about and who knew who one would land on top of and also refreshing, in a way. However, it seemed their landing place was home of a clump of thread!

Aurinkoth, however, didn't even fret as he twisted in the air, flaming it before darting away. Well! At least one of them was nice and dexterous!
