I'm mean to my characters in some parts, but I make things turn out okay. The idea being they worked through it, and I try to make varied challenges.

I do variety with everything.
SPOILER ALERT!
Suicide is often brought on in my stories for various reasons. Kyo needed help and after him and Ivan get tortured from their relationship he can't take it anymore. Kyo takes the easy way out breaking Ivan's heart.
In another story, my character Kyros over doses on pills because his four year older daughter Katrina dies from Leukemia. The mother ends up dying from AIDs D:
Lastly, it was only part of the dream where the guy's wife commits suicide to save everyone else because she's an all powerful elf.
As far as murder goes D: I had one of my favorite characters have all his friends killed off just so he could become emotionless up till one of the scenes when he finally gets a reality check...
Funny though that his mom ends up killing millions of people because she's brain washed. dramallama
And then there's cases like when Commander Sonja gets shot and right before she dies tells Ras that he's her son.
lol, then there's just out-right wrong deaths.
Karma, the character highly based off my ex, gets hit by a car and the people driving the car are Biff & Saikoro - singing Karma Chamelon~
And the guy getting killed with the bottle cap talk2hand
Or my Fruit Basket of Death xD
o.o One day I will write all character death.
