Brieteth would never have been considered cocky, but he was, to those who knew how to recognize it, relaxing. Only a bit. Just the smallest bit. It made flaming come just a little bit easier.

But it also meant that went the huge gust of wind came blowing through, the blue was suddenly sent flying off in another direction with a distressed kreel! We're OK! E'mel reminded.

Neiveth was ever so attentive to her wingmates, but something didn't feel right about watching one of them chasing after a particularly nasty looking clump of...

Careful! she warned. Fortunately, the riderpair backed off at her warning - just as the winds blew it back towards them! Neiveth ducked in to assist in flaming, pleased to see such a phenomenal specimen both up close - and unharmed. This time.

Things were going just fine until this wind kicked up. Struggling to stay in formation, Lireloth stopped flaming just as a massive clump of Thread broke through the clouds and landed directly on his head. Thella cried out with her dragon, but their shouts were cut off as Lireloth jumped Between out of instinct. When they appeared again they were back at the Weyr, hovering over the Bowl.

"Down, Lireloth, get down!" Thella encouraged as the injured dragon slowly descended, landing heavily in the dust. Thella slid off his back and fell to the ground before running forward to check his face. There was ichor everywhere and the one eye that wasn't shut was swirling between red, yellow, and grey.

"All right, all right...no need to panic," she murmured to Lireloth before flagging down a healer. They'd get this sorted out and be back in no time.

Despite how thickly Thread seemed to be falling, Ly'bur was surprised when Hinburath's flame came up short. The Thread continued to flutter downward, much to the dragon's chagrin. I am sorry mine. I couldn't hold it. That's alright. You're still tired. Hopefully our wingleader didn't see that. If he did, then he did. With luck, he was busy dealing with his own Thread to notice that slight mistake.

1. 5- The air is thick with Thread. It's at its heaviest up here, and you are literally surrounded by silver tendrils. You roar defiance before spitting forth a great flame, scorching the deadly threads before you with ease. Flame Length +1 (NOT GAINED DUE TO FATIGUE)
2. 12- You try to flame down some Thread, but your flame comes up short. Whoops! Hopefully your Wingleader didn't see that. Nothing to be done about it now except eat some more firestone, and try to catch the next clump!

W'dre scarcely had to warn the bronze as he twisted to move out of the way of the clump of thread, Betweening on a mark as it brushed over the tip of his tail. The two reemerged moments later, mostly unharmed for their efforts.

Still, the dark bronze rumbled angrily.

Oh! There was a faint warble of concern in Aurinkoth's mental voice as Ichta turned to try and see what he was seeing - and didn't have to look hard. Both were in agreement as the blue suddenly hopped between to try and intercept.

Only they'd meant to intercept with fire, instead they'd successfully landed practically right on top of it, girl and blue both twisting in the air before Aurinkoth was off and away again.

He popped back out with a small huff, not exactly looking the best for their attempt.

It was time to rise up. M'aze wasn't sure if now was the best time for his distracted bronze, but they weren't going to let their Wing or Pern down just because of a little bitten tongue! The pep talk lifted their spirits and despite the pain in his mouth, Zeath did feel a bit better. He rose with the Wing and managed to do so without much difficulty. The pair gazed at the Thread that they faced, the smaller dragons already flaming and dipping and diving between the clumps that fell.

"Well," M'aze said as he glanced back at his partner. "Could be worse, I suppose. Could be raining."

While Zeath was trying to put the pain of his tongue behind him M'aze kept an eye out for thread, gently guiding his dragon behind others that were having more success flaming. A sudden gust of wind caught them and Zeath strained to stay in formation, but something pulled in his wing. M'aze grimaced and reached out to rub Zeath's neck. They'd have to get that looked at when they went back, but for now they'd be fine. If it pulled again it would definitely be a return trip for a short spell.
