The old headquarters building was a wreck of a place, consisting of a half dozen shabby office buildings in a complex surrounding an old overgrown courtyard. Dense forest surrounded on all sides. A gray haze hung low over the complex, casting eerie shadows on the mottled, vine-ridden walls.
In the lobby of one of the larger buildings, a loud crack could be heard, which echoed into the silence. A rip appeared out of thin air, rustling the old, forgotten papers of a dropped file on the lobby's dirty tiled floor.
Nerius jumped out of the other side of the rip and pulled his transceiver from his lapel, having retrieved it during his return trip from the stream. He smiled to himself and keyed the mic. "Nerius to HQ... They're coming, boss."
He pocketed the device and stepped out of the way for the others to come through. He smiled to himself, allowing one stray thought to penetrate his mental defenses. 'Nothing personal, Ash.'
Then he vaporized, leaving no trace behind, and flew through a hole in the roof of the run-down office building.

Roland came too shortly after he hit the ground, he could tell cause the dust hadn't even settled yet. He looked up to see Reyson standing over him, scowling. "As always, you have impecible timing," Roland growled and stood up.
"You have something of mine. I would like them back, if you don't mind. Let's keep an air of dignity about us, shall we?" Reyson said.
"Hey, back off pal. Just consider it the spoils of war. You no longer have the right to them, they're mine. It's not my fault that your choice of employer is bad, otherwise you wouldn't have had to fight me," Roland grinned evily.
Reyson got right in Roland's face and screamed "LOOK WHAT YOU DID TO MY FACE! You messed everything up. My reputation as a mercenary was crushed. No one want's a marked mercenary, it shows weakness. Well, it seems that you're not going to give them up willingly, so now..." Reyson brandished his sword. "We fight."
Roland growled "With pleasure. Prepare to be defeated by the item you covet so much." Roland formed a big energy ball between his hands and threw it into the air. when it came back down, he caught it and it formed into a sword of the same degree of Reyson's blade.
Reyson charged Roland, and swung the massive blade at Roland's head. Roland parried the attack, and used his other hand to plant an energy ball right into Reyson's chest. Reyson hit the ground, and Roland kicked his blade away. "Seriously, you thought I was going to play fair? When you said that scar shows a sign of weakness, I didn't think you meant MENTAL weakness. I guess I overestimated you."
Reyson got up and dusted himself off. "If what your looking for is for me to admit defeat, you will be waiting even in purgatory. It will never happen, I will die first. You did me dirty Roland, and you've made an enemy for life out of it. Hope those gloves are worth it." Reyson disapeared.
Roland shook his head. "Self-centered little s**t. Oh well, who needs him." Roland concentrated on the fort and used the time stop to warp back. It was a lot harder to pull off, but still possible. When he got back, Ashoc was the only one left there, sitting with a gun in her hand. "Hey, where's everyone else?"
Just as Roland finished his question, several men burst into the room.

Nerius flew towards the Agency of Order's main headquarters building. His brain was empty and focused - focused on returning as quickly as possible to be debriefed by his boss and to start the end of it all. "I'm comin' home, boys..." he said happily as he put on more speed.
After several minutes of flying at top speed he found himself soaring low over a barren patch of desert. In the distance, a great plateau thrust upward out of the ground like a giant, red-sand behemoth. That was his destination.
He reached the dusty surface of the plateau and materialized in its direct center. He knelt to the ground and knocked on it. A tiny metal twang could be heard and he smiled again. Then he began brushing away at the dirt and loose rock. After a short time, he had uncovered a small, circular metal hatch. On its surface was a small box with a cover. He lifted the lid, causing the bolts to creak in protest. This revealed a small green digital keypad. The keypad stood out awkwardly from the red of the stone around him. He wracked his brain for a minute and found the memory he needed. Quickly he punched in the numbers "4-8-1-5-1-6-3-6-4-2." Then he tapped the enter key, seized the handle, and, after hearing an automated click, hefted the hatch open.
Several minutes later he stood before his boss's office door. He cleared his mind for perhaps the hundredth time since leaving the office complex. This was proving harder on his mind than anything else. He took a breath and raised his hand to knock. The door swung open automatically in admittance.
"Come in, come in, please, Nerius." His boss's voice was as low and thunderous as ever. "I trust your search has proved fruitful?" He didn't face Nerius. Just sat there staring out the window. How long had it been since he'd seen the boss's mutilated face..? Nerius proceeded to give the man a quick rundown of what had happened, including as detailed of a description of each being in Ashoc's party as possible. After a long moment following the explanation, the man rose to his feet. He turned around, revealing a face shrouded in a white hood. "Well, Nerius, you've brought us all we need to know." He keyed the mic on his polished desk. "Redford, mount up. Meet me in the lobby with Squad 13." Then he looked back at Nerius. "Show me."
Nerius led the way back to the lobby where a group of five men stood in simple white suits matching his own. The only difference that could be seen between each of them was their eyes, ranging between red, green, white, black, and blue - they specialized in fire, earth, wind, darkness, and even a budding water specialist, though nothing to match Nerius' skill. Wordlessly they lined up. The boss stepped in front of them and looked at Nerius, his eyes shining with delight. "Do the honors, Agent Nerius."
Nerius smiled at the title and nodded. "Will do, Mr. Dexys." And at that he turned, pulled another tempo-rip from his pocket, having snagged it on the way down, and threw it to the ground. A rip appeared with the crack, and the group filed through with Nerius in the lead.
They came out just outside the office building Nerius had left less than an hour before. His boss came out smiling, twirling his cane in his hand. "Ohhhh, she's here alright," he boomed. "I can TASTE HER!" His suit shone brightly, even in the dim overcast light. A mist rose from his body as he put a hand on Nerius' shoulder, for his power was that of Nerius himself. "You've done well, brother. Very well. Now we shall have our revenge together!" And at that he kicked in the door of the building as his cane erupted into a long, icy staff.

Ashoc felt new minds around, and put her gun away hastily. It wouldn't help her now. "I sent them away, Rol," she told him, standing up to face the newcomers. "It's too late for me to send you away now, too. Leave if you can." She then focused her attention on the man in front of her, who she assumed to be the leader. "Hello there. What's this revenge you speak of? I'm rather confused. And I'd rather you not taste me, that's kind of violating. We haven't even been on a first date, you know," she told him sarcastically. Her eyes narrowed at Nerius, but she said nothing to him.

((Epic, by the way, Kusa. Completely and utterly epic))
The remaining agents rushed for Roland and Daedalus as they entered the building, paying no attention to Ashoc. They had their orders. Suppress the others, protect Dexys. That was all. They spread out in formation, with Fire and Earth advancing on Daedalus as Water and Darkness advanced on Roland. They held negative-mass-generators in their hands, devices that would encase a target in frozen suspension of anti-matter until otherwise directed. They were brutal weapons, but effective.
Nerius walked slowly towards Ashoc, his eyes emotionless, his mind empty for her sake. 'Don't let her see you sweat...' He eyed Dexys out of the corner of his eyes as he advanced. Dexys spoke first.
"You should have yielded when you had the chance, Ashoc! Perhaps we could have reached an understanding! But all this mindless chaos... it's too much for you. Too much for the world even. And it must stop." He slammed his staff down on the ground, enveloping the entire room in a furious blizzard instantly. "I ALWAYS get what I'm after, Ashoc! ALWAYS!" Nerius simply stared, not focusing, not speaking, not thinking. The world was furious around him, yet he stayed perfectly still.

"Well, then you're a spoiled rotten overgrown child, Dexys," she told him, lifting his name from the minds of his agents, her voice heavy with mock sorrow. "It explains a lot about your character, though. Was it mommy who gave you everything you wanted? Or maybe daddy? Did they want a girl, and spoiled you because they felt guilty, and sorry for you?" Ashoc brushed a little bit of snow from her hair with lazy carelessness.
"Now I've said it once, I'll say it again. The Agents of chaos exist to counterbalance the agents of order and keep balance in the universe. The only reason that we've had to become extreme is to counterbalance your extremes. Did you murder my friends personally? Or did you just get them slaughtered and didn't even care, just treated them as words on a bloody page? What do you hope to accomplish? No one has ever succeeded in taking over the world, you know, and there's a reason for that." All the while that she was speaking, her voice became a little more musical than usual, and she hoped they'd interpret it as overwrought emotion. She kept her mind almost as blank as Nerius', instead thinking of the faces of her fallen comrades, and the fun they'd had in their life.
